HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. DENIS The tree climbing Zacchaeus went out of his way to see Jesus. How surprised he must have been, when after seeing him, Jesus invited Himself to visit his home. We can easily form a picture of the event, the first scene at the tree, the second dining at Zacchaeus home as we overhear the conversation, the murmuring and humble confession. We too, seek Jesus, and sometimes don t know where He is in our life. Look up, look around, look for Him in our church tabernacles. Don t you see? Jesus is always seeking us, is present to us, asking us to bring to Him what we have and who we are. We are His brothers and sisters, and sit at table with Him both in our homes as well as at worship at mass. He knows us as we are, and yet wants to sit with us, calling, healing and making us holy. All youth of the parish from 2 nd grade through high school are welcome to join! Don t worry- you do not need to know how to read music! All music and materials will be provided. Looking forward to singing with you! For the past several years, we have had the October Count an indicator of weekly Mass attendance. We get the numbers by counting how many people attend each of the 5 weekend Masses over two weekends in October. This year, we used the 8 th -9 th and 15 th -16 th. This week I share with you the results. First, I give the breakdown for each Mass time. Then I give the total average weekend attendance as compared to the last few years. 2016 Saturday 4:30 p.m. 425 people, Sunday 8:00 a.m. 207 people, 9:30 a.m. 265 people, 10:00 a.m.- 272 people, 11:00 a.m.- 335 people. This gives the grand total of 1504 people. Average Weekend Attendance 2016 1,504 (2,969 Registered Families) 2015 1,454 (2,915 Registered Families) 2014 1,543 (2,893 Registered Families) 2013 1,653 2012 1,620 Certainly this number has a natural fluctuation as people move into and out of our parish, and what is happening at any given weekend. We actually did not count the weekend of October 22-23 because everyone kept saying the Giants game in London was going to throw everything off, and it was true! Regardless, please keep inviting people to pray here with us. We ask God to bless our parish with Faith, Hope and Love. I pray that we will all respond to God s grace and give him Glory though our worship together as the Body of Christ. Your support means so much and can help this organization continue to DO so much in our state which is among the most lenient in terms of access to abortion, and whose State Assembly just passed the Doctor Assisted Suicide Bill last week. We pray that this bill does not get passed through our State Senate and becomes law. Many thanks to all of the volunteers from our Elizabeth Ministry and Mary s Child Pro-Life Ministry who helped sell the raffles. The drawing will be on November 18, 2016.
