WELCOME TO THE 42ND ANNUAL SESSION OF THE CONGRESS OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

My Tribute to Sis. Elizabeth Weaver Rosier Serving this present age, her calling she fulfilled. Using all of her Godgiven earthly Power, she did her Master s Will. The preceding song lyrics, a paraphrase from the well-known Dr. Watts hymn, A Charge To Keep. I Have, epitomizes who our Elizabeth Weaver Rosier was and what she did with her life while among us. Although present with the Lord; her swift transition left us a little unsettled. We really weren t ready for her to go. But her transition left us comforted because of what she left. We are the beneficiaries of the firm foundation she laid for our family. Her legacy of love and giving (especially to the children of our state and nation) lives on through us and you also. You, the many members of our extended community family: churches, schools, associations and conventions who have sustained us with your support during these tumultuous seasons of sickness and bereavement. To say that we are eternally grateful, to all of you for all that you have done, is the absolute truth. Your outpouring of love yet lingers in our spirit. A special thanks to the following named individuals and organizations (the unnamed as well so many did so much) whose kindnesses helped to roll the burden of our hearts away : The National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc., Rev. Samuel L. Tolbert, President; Dr. Joel Taylor, National Congress Director; Dr. Terrance D. Grant-Malone, National Children s and Youth Director, Progressive M & E Baptist State Convention of Florida, Inc., Rev. SENIOR WOMEN S MINISTRY 4 Getting To Know Our Newly Elected Leader Sister Dorothy P. Davis President Greetings to each of you in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! During our March, 2016 Session in Jacksonville, Florida, we excitedly embarked upon new leadership in our Ministry as a result of the decision of our newest President Emeritus and our beloved National Baptist Convention of America, Incorporated Senior Women Missionary Union President, Dr. Barbara F. Wright. Recognizing that Dr. Wright faithfully and committedly served our Ministry for over 10 years, we found joy in knowing that the Lord would smile upon us in providing us a Ministry Leader that would support and continue to move our ministry forward in the Name of Jesus Christ. As a result of our prayers and unified efforts, God has smiled on us once again! We take this opportunity to share our blessing with you! Our newly elected President is a profound woman of God that exhibits her love of God, commitment of service to others, mission and education, evangelism and a strong desire to stay in the will of God in all that she has done and will continue to do in the advancement of this Ministry. A Favorite Scripture: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path. (Proverbs 3:5-6) A Favorite Song: How Great Thou Art. Sister Davis, a resident of Bonifay, FL is the daughter of the Late Mr. Earnest and Mrs. Idella Moultrie Ponds. She was born into a family of 9 brothers and 4 sisters. Living siblings include, Reverend Wadis Ponds(Clearwater, FL), Johnny Ponds and wife, Bobbye (Pensacola, FL) and Martha Blount ( St. Petersburg, FL). Along with her siblings, the love of her life includes her husband, Reverend Andrew L. Davis(53 years); 2 children, her daughter, Adrienne L. Davis(Atlanta, Ga.) and son, Andrew L. Davis, Jr. (Berlington, Massachusetts) as well as three grandchildren; Morgan, Trey and Benjamin. She is a retired Science Instructor. Sister Davis is a graduate of Roulhac High School as Valedictorian (Chipley, Florida); Florida A and M University(Tallahassee) with further study at Troy University(Dothan and Fort Rucker, AL). Being a wonderfully supportive wife, parent and grandparent, it is her devotion and loyalty that stands out in her service as a Christian and Missionary Woman of God, locally, statewide and nationally. Just to name a few Continued on page 4

DEACONESS MINISTRY 6 So then just as your received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Col. 2:6-7) Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, We are again grateful to our Lord and Savior for allowing us to gather in Orlando for the 43nd Annual Session of the Congress of Christian Education for the Progressive Missionary & Educational Baptist State Convention of Florida. We give blessings, honor and praises to His Holy Name! As always, our Teacher, Sister Ruth Johnson is excited about sharing God s Word with the Deaconesses in attendance. Special invitation is extended to Deaconesses in the Central Florida and surrounding area to please do not miss this opportunity to again hear great teaching from this woman of God. The State Deaconess Council thank God for the service and leadership of Sister Judy Fagins of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Lakeland, Florida. Sister Fagins served outstandingly for the past 4 years as 1st Vice-President of the Deaconess Council. Prior to that, she served as 3rd Vice-President and Secretary to the Council President. Sister Fagins loves ministry work and for the past several years she has spearheaded her church s Annual Women s Conference with great success. In Loving Memory The Life and Legacy of Sis. Elizabeth Weaver Rosier 7 Servant, Well Done Sister Elizabeth Rosier was a career educator and an advocate for teaching and leading the youth in her local church, the community, as well as on the state and national level. Her work will forever resonate in our hearts because of the level of excellence she rendered to promote and support young people. For many years Sister Rosier served both First South Florida Association and Mount Pilgrim Association, as Youth Directress. Her level of service and leadership in that capacity would later excel her to Directress of Youth and Children of the Progressive Missionary & Educational Baptist State Convention of Florida, Inc. She would lead in this area until our Lord transitioned her to her eternal reward. Sister Rosier left a remarkable legacy of service that future successors will be able to look upon and continue to lead the young people. Her love for the youth and her complete commitment to their spiritual nurturing was always evident in any leadership role she was appointed or elected to. She fulfilled to the highest degree the words of her favorite hymn, A Charge to Keep I Have, A God to Glorify, and yes, she used all of her power to do her Master s will. Sister Rosier impacted the lives of so many through her mentorship and influence. She was instrumental in helping many young men and women achieve their goals to learn more, do more and to be more in their churches, communities, and everyday lives. Sister Elizabeth Weaver Rosier has been called from labor to reward, but her leadership will live through our youth as we continue to watch them grow and develop in the Master s will.

WOMEN S INTERMEDIATE AUXILIARY G reetings In The Name of Our Savior. To God Be The Glory. We are looking forward to an inspiring time of study and learning as we meet here at the Congress of Christian Education in Orlando, FL. We are thankful to you for your support of this ministry. We continue to be blessed with exciting sessions and awesome encounters. 2015 WIA Conference, Nashville, TN I would like to thank everyone that travelled to Jacksonville for our Annual session in March. It was a grand session and I truly enjoyed our time together. In April, we travelled to the National WIA 17th Annual Conference in Nashville, TN. We had a wonderful fellowship with our national sisters. God blessed in a mighty way. We thank God for Jr. Woman, Sonja Camel who made the trip with us. In May, we completed our annual Mother s Day souvenir journal, which supports our annual queen contestant and I thank each of you for your support. Next, we will be hosting our Annual State Mission Encounter and we will be sharing more details soon. Let s continue to support Gogie Allison of New Central Association in representing Florida as our queen contestant during our National session in September in Cincinnati, OH. Florida has the reigning queen in the person of Cheryl King and we would like to retain the crown. Please send your support and participate in the various fund raisers. This contest supports our mission and education fund raising goals for National Women s Intermediate Auxiliary. Let s continue to pray for each other, this ministry, and our state convention. Be Blessed, Kathy Jackson
