Ebenezer Lutheran Church Port Hudson The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod 9100 Highway YY Leslie, Missouri Parsonage 573-459-6432 Church 573-459-6431 Rev. William F. Zastrow, Pastor Mary Sprick, Secretary ebenezerlutheran@hotmail.com ebenezerlutheranchurch.wordpress.com AS WE GATHER: Happy Father s Day! We give thanks for the earthly fathers who have been a blessing in our lives. We give even greater thanks today for our heavenly Father, who has called us all His sons and daughters. In the Word, we are reminded of our beginning in Baptism, when He called us by name and adopted and welcomed us into His family, where we receive lasting blessings that cannot be found in any other place. As His children and heirs, we are favored, forgiven, and free, that we may live in His grace and respond in our lives to His glory and honor. Happy Father s Day today! Happy God the Father Day today and every day living as His children united in His Son! PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP: Gracious Lord, You have come to us and called us by name, and we are Yours. As we live in the adoption as sons and daughters through the water and the Word, and made heirs of Your blessings, we give You thanks that we are favored, forgiven, and free. Enable us to love Your Law, treasure Your grace in the Gospel, and proclaim our adoption into Your family with all its gifts in confident faith, trust, and joy; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. 2

Please mark your calendars with a reminder that our Vacation Bible School will be held here July 25-29!! Please go to our Website for registration. Grace s Place Food Drive Ebenezer Lutheran Church will have a food drive for Graces Place in Washington, Mo in June. Grace s Place is looking for Kid Friendly Food. Kid Friendly foods might include Goldfish crackers, cereal, Hamburger Helper, pudding cups, spaghettios and those types of foods. The house parents do cook but they try to keep it simple, i.e. chicken nuggets, pizza, helper meals, etc. The kids are infants to 12 years old. Parents usually supply baby food but it might be something to include on the list as well. Their intake this year has increased by 49% and has caused a drain on food supplies. Please bring food items to the back of Church where we have the card table for the food bank. All food will go to Graces Place on June 27 th. The last Sunday for collection will be Sunday, June 26 th. Synodical Offering You are able to give to a special offering for our Synod celebrating our National Convention in July. Please see the June Newsletter for more information. We have moved the final day for giving back to the first Sunday of July. Please make checks out to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Place the envelopes in the offering plate. Tom Anderson, our delegate will be taking the offering to the Milwaukee Convention. We have received a request from Concordia Gospel Outreach regarding the people killed in Orlando, Florida. Fifty people killed. More injured. A community is in shock and mourning. The Orlando community in need of comfort. Concordia Gospel Outreach is working with local congregations to send the Gospel to the Orlando community. 5

With your support, we can cover this hurting community with the peace and comfort that can only be found in the Gospel. You can help bring hope to Orlando. Thank you for your prayers and support. - Elizabeth Pittman Concordia Gospel Outreach. Please send your donation to Concordia Gospel Outreach 3558 South Jefferson Ave. St. Louis, MO 63118 or you may place your donation in our collection plate and we will send it on to Concordia Gospel Outreach. It was announced on Wednesday, June 15, the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, having received 56.96 percent of the votes cast, is the president-elect of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for a third term of office, 2016-2019. Stewardship Thought: Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. It is very easy to get caught up in the present and lose track of our ultimate destiny in the Kingdom of God. St. Paul encourages us to keep eternity in mind. This certainly has an application to our support for the Gospel if we keep our focus on the glory to be revealed we will see our tithes and offerings in a new light. Wednesday Morning and Evening Bible Study: It s not too late to come to this Bible Study. This week we study the Sixth Commandment. Please come, even if you missed the first sessions. Mary and Pastor will see that you will get all the lessons to date. The lessons can be done on your own as well. We have 16 enrolled. 6
