THE STEEPLE TEEPLE! The bimonthly newsletter of PRESBYTERIAN NEWELL CHURCH MAR / APR SUNDAY SCHOOL 9:45 WORSHIP 11:00 March 2, The Lord s Supper MATT 26:26-30 March 9, Garden of Gethsemane MATT 26:36-46 March 16, Condemned MATT 26:57-75 March 23, Jesus and Barabbas MATT 27:15-26 March 30, Rev. Amy Busiek, preaching WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES Think about some of the most significant days in your life: Perhaps, the day graduated from school, got married, started a new job, or first heard the sound of your child s new born cry. Other days, may be less joyful, but equally significant, like: getting diagnosed with cancer, going through a traffic accident, or the day a divorce if finalized. There are many days in our own lives, which we can look back upon, and realize how that one day changed everything. Jesus lived about 30 years on this earth. That is roughly 10,950 days. The Bible tells lots of stories about some of those days. But, there is one day in particular that was so important that the gospels spent 1/3 of their writings talking about. And, that day is from the evening of Maundy Thursday when Jesus shared the Last Supper with his disciples to the midnight trial and tortures to the midday crucifixion and death. All of those events encompassed a single 24 hour period. For the next six weeks, we will unpack some of those events in Jesus life on that particular day. We will take our time reflecting on the significance of these events, rather, than rushing through it all during Holy Week. So, I invite you to journey with me in our Lenten Sermon Series What a Difference a Day Makes. PS - On April 27, we will start a new series on the Apostles Creed.
