Emma's Autumn Yoga Newsletter 2017 Hello Yogis and fellow adventurers! Well, another season has passed and I for one don t know what happened to the British Summer time but as our energies begin to gradually draw in we can embrace this time for shifting perspectives and self-reflection. It has been another Summer of both joyfulness and challenges, Yin and Yang, exactly how the universe is designed. Everything comes into a state of balance eventually and we are so lucky to have this ancient tradition at the tips of our fingers as both a refuge and source of solace. Whatever your plans are for the Autumn, I hope you continue to practise, be kind to yourself and honour the light which is around you Here is the news
August Bank Holiday weekend- Blackpool! Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside! The Revolution-was probably one roller-coaster too many! Great to have mum there xx People can be sniffy about this not so classy resort but we had the best time ever! I quickly initiated Zuzana into the traditions of the place which I have been familiar with from many child hood holidays there with my family and my grandparents before me: Kiss- me-quick hat- check Pleasure Beach and sweets-check The Tower Ballroom- swoon, thinking about my grandparents dancing here every year- check
The Jacksons and Will Smith as well as the dance- fest that was The Jacksons on Friday night and seeing my hero Will Smith on Sunday night. Good times were had as you can see Keeping it real Yoga- in-the-meadow Events 1 st July and 2 nd September 2017 The 1 st July was such a lovely morning- having my students meet my mum and enjoy a morning of Yoga in Dawn s beautiful grounds was very special indeed. It felt like it was meant to be with the sun shining and the collective energy and good vibes of the group. We also raised some much needed fundage for Yorkshire Cancer Support and I received this lovely certificate from the charity to thank you.
How nice! Everybody s best angle Shadow warriors As some have pointed out since, I look like a real diva strutting about with my sun gigs on but those who were there
know that the sad reality was I was covered in flies because of my unfortunate choice of a lime yellow vest- the glamour! Indian Summer Yoga Lovely Yogis- love this picture The 2 nd September dawned just as glorious and we had a lovely time in the sunshine on the grass this time. We saluted the sun as it rose through the mist and by the time we had reached the Shadow Warrior flow we were stripping off layers and seeking out the shade! Look out for more Yoga- in-the-meadow events in 2018
Dr Z Zuzana is always on photo-taking duties so here is a picture of her in Astavakrasana making it look easy Seriously thoughhuge thanks to my wing-woman for her support of my Yoga obsession both below and above decks. As Phoebe says in Friends - she is my lobster! Aloha! Master Ashtangi David Williams July 2017
What a dude! It was a real privilege to be able to experience a series of workshops with David Williams who brought Patabhi Jois to America in the 1970 s and is one of the few Yogis in the world to learn the entire Ashtanga Yoga series directly from Patabhi Jois in its original form. The weekend was called How to Practise Ashtanga Yoga for the rest of your life! We learned the original Primary series flow as taught to Patabhi Jois by the God-father of Yoga, Krishnamachariya as well as the little taught Ashtanga Pranayama. He was charismatic, humorous and very passionate about people staying safe and practising Ahimsa- the first teaching of Yoga- non-violence. There is no reason why you would ever get injured practising any style of Yoga if you honour this teaching and respect the tradition and messages of your own breath and body. Youtube classes continue Well, we are building up quite a library of classes for you based on your requests. Zuzana continues to edit and impove the classes as we go along. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback about the classes and for your donations which have gone towards batteries and chargers. It has been great to be able to offer these classes and know that you are able to keep up your practice whether I am home or away! We do have to continually update equipment and are currently saving for a new camera so we can store more classes at a time. We would welcome any donation you can make into my donation pot which I have in my classes and workshops if you have been using the classes and enjoying them.
