Romans 8:26-28 pg 800 MESSAGE PARAPHRASE Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don t know how or what to pray, it doesn t matter.
Romans 8:26-28 pg 800 He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God.
Romans 8:26-28 pg 800 That s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
Matthew 14:22-36 pg 692 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,
Matthew 14:22-36 pg 692 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. 25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
Matthew 14:22-36 pg 692 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. It s a ghost, they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: Take courage! It is I. Don t be afraid. 28 Lord, if it s you, Peter replied, tell me to come to you on the water.
Matthew 14:22-36 pg 692 29 Come, he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, Lord, save me!
Matthew 14:22-36 pg 692 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. You of little faith, he said, why did you doubt? 32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, Truly you are the Son of God.
Matthew 14:22-36 pg 692 34 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36 and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

The obedience of Christ is directly mentioned but 3 times in the New Testament:
Romans 5:19 pg 799 Through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous
Philippians 2:8 pg 831 He humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross
Hebrews 5:8 pg 848 Though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered
Romans 6:16-18 pg 799 Don t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
Romans 6:16-18 pg 799 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.
Romans 6:16-18 pg 799 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

2 Corinthians 12:9 pg 822 But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ s power may rest on me. [NIV]
2 Corinthians 12:9 pg 822 New Living Translation Each time he said, My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 pg 807 And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 pg 807 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God s power.

John McArthur: That s what it s all about in life, like when James says that the testing of your faith is ultimately producing perfection. The Lord runs us out as far as our faith will go, and then when our faith ends and we start to sink, He lets us begin to sink.
Then we say, Lord, save me! and when He does, that extends our faith that much further. That is what the Christian life is all about: learning more and more to trust God, believing Him more and more so that we can step out on faith and attempt those things which we believe ourselves to be inadequate to accomplish.
