And so I invite you today to look to Christ. Pope St. John Paul II Dear Parishioners! Peace be with you! We are now I the midst of Advent season preparing ourselves to commemorate Christmas-the birthday of our Lord Jesus Christ-the Light and the Savior of the world! Usually, it is during the season of Advent that we hear the great invitation: Prepare the way of the Lord! Make straight his path! As Christmas is approaching we have to embrace this invitation to prepare. Christmas is about the coming of Jesus-the Emmanuel -which means God is with us! He came to be with us in this world personally and spiritually! It is in this spirit that we ought to prepare ourselves to celebrate his birthday. Indeed, this celebration is something personal and spiritual. Primarily, to prepare the way of the Lord means to prepare ourselves, our minds, our hearts, and our souls. Thus, in consonance with the gospel we are being asked by this season to keep praying, making sacrifices, do penance, extend helping hands to those in need, and give more space spiritually to accommodate God all the more in our lives. In our church we have the opportunities to do these things with our brothers and sisters. Always come and participate in our sacramental and liturgical celebrations and collaborate in the outreach programs of our parish. Yes! Practically, this time we are busy with physical and material import preparations but let us prioritize the essential ones. May Good Lord bless us all! In Christ, Fr. Roy Merry Christmas Father Roy, on behalf of the whole parish & school staff, would like to wish each and everyone of you a very Blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year. Our RCIA meetings are on Thursdays from 7-9 PM in the Parish Center. Please call the Parish Office, 253-833-5130. Young Adult Connection All young adults, including those who have received the sacrament of Confirmation, are invited to come and join to continue to grow in your faith. For more information, please contact Anthony Corpuz (253) 737-8973 or Jocelyn Arida at the Youth Office (253) 833-5130 x205. Holy Family School s advent wreath grew full of prayers for joy, love, hope and faith! The deep filled hopes and prayers should make every teacher and parent proud of the children! The Christmas program is such a true gift of telling the story of Jesus birth through the stories and songs of the children. The final manger scene always bring tears to my eyes, especially when the eighth graders sign Alleluia, and Mary did you know? To see all the students in the school gathered around the altar signing reminds be this is the gift of a Catholic School, to be able to live and share our faith. We pray that that everyone has a blessed and safe Christmas break. May the joys of this Season be with you and your family each and every day, Michele Corey Principal Pastoral Care Ministry Do you feel called to Pastoral Care Ministry? We are in need of a few people to visit with parishioners who are homebound, or are in an adult residence. It has been a wonderful year in the Parish School of Religion so far and we are so blessed to be able to serve so many of our parish children by providing them with education on the Catholic faith, tradition as well as fellowship with other children in our church community. We wish your family a season of joy and prayer together with your children and will see everyone back in January (January 7 th for Sunday PK and January 10 th for Wednesday classes)! Please remember that the First Reconciliation workshop will be held on January 20 th from 9am-11am and a parent must attend with the child. Sacrament Prep classes for 4 th -6 th graders: January 7 th, 14 th, 21 st, 28 th starting at 9:30am; NO Classes 12/ 24 or 12/31 The Holy Family consisted of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, not just Jesus alone. For the family to be complete, it was necessary to have Joseph the carpenter alongside the greatness of Jesus and the spotlessness of Mary. So too, in our churches, several people may be very capable but they do not make up the community. We need others to complete the team. -from Thirsting for God Pg. 3 YOUTHLIFE NEWS Youthlife Meetings May the Christmas season and the New Year bring you and your families a spirit of Hope, plenty of Love and a feeling of Peace all around you! Thanks to all the Youth who actively attend our Youthlife meetings, and to their supportive parents. Thank you for your love and prayers. Most of all, thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ who is the real essence and core of our YOUTHLIFE. You Lord are the one that binds us all. Wishing you all a bright and meaningful New Year for everyone! The Lord remembers his covenant for ever

Advent Advent has two parts: the days before December 17th and the final week of Advent from December 18th to Christmas Eve. It is the time of solstice and the days are shortest throughout the final week of Advent. This week was once called the Halcyon Days a time of peace and perfection. The church holds its breath in anticipation in these last moments before Christmas dawn. During the week, the prayers at daily Mass are full of urgency and promise: Stand firm, the Lord is coming, The desired of all nations is coming. On Sunday we hear the beloved story of the angel Gabriel who was sent to the young Mary with the news that, if she agreed, the Lord would bless her with a precious child. We admire Mary s faith as she says Yes to the Lord s messenger and we sing songs of praise for the baby that she carries. We pray that we too may carry the Lord in our hearts and we treasure this final week as we look forward to the wonder of Christmas Day. St. Vincent de Paul Society As we prepare to celebrate this special time of the year with our family and friends, let us not forget those for whom this season represents only their struggle to stay warm and nourished. Your gifts of food and clothing to St Vincent de Paul represent your caring for their body and soul. ***************************************************************** The New Year is upon us...a time for clearing our closets of unused items...boxing them up and dropping them off at St Vincent de Paul. What better way is there to share your bounty with others.
