TO SOME PEOPLE, Jesus Christ was a righteous man. To others, He was a great teacher and to many, He was just another religious leader. But to Christians, Jesus Christ was more than a man, teacher and leader. The verses that follow are quoted from the Bi le which give an accurate account of who Jesus was and His life on earth. His Birth Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a pu lick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou 2

shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:18-21). His Relationship with God Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Matthew 3:13-17). His Mission And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the go el of the kingdom, and healing all manner of 3

sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matthew 4:23). And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:31, 32). For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (John 3:17). His Teaching Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great 4

is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you (Matthew 5:3-12). Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire (Matthew 5:21, 22). Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart (Matthew 5:27, 28). Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also (Matthew 5:38, 39). Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, less them 5

that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you (Matthew 5:43, 44). His Warning Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3). I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish (Luke 13:3). And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this go el of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:11-14). Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35). His Miracles and Acts of Healing When Christ was on earth, He proved to the world that He was no ordinary person. He performed many miracles and acts of healing, 6

examples of which are as follows: i) ii) iii) iv) v) vi) Healing the man with a withered hand. (Mark 3:1-5) Feeding the five thousand. (John 6:1-l4) Healing one sick of the palsy. (Mark 2:1-12) Turning water into wine. (John 2:1-10) Lazarus raised from the dead. (John 11:1-45) The catching of a great multitude of fishes. (Luke 5:1-7) His Claims And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst (John 6:35). Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12). Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25, 26). 7

For this is my lood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins (Matthew 26:28). His Death Jesus Christ had twelve disciples. One of them, Judas Iscariot, betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver and with a kiss. He collaborated with the chief priests who were ever ready to get rid of Jesus Christ because they were envious of His works and claims. Judas made it possi le for the high priests, scribes and elders to lay hands on his master. Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; but found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, and said, This fellow said, I am a le to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which 8

these witness against thee? But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken lasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his lasphemy. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death (Matthew 26:59-66). The chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death. After they had bound Him, they led Him away, and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor who later yielded to the demand of chief priests and elders to crucify Him even though he found no fault in Jesus. His Resurrection In the end of the sa bath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord 9

descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word (Matthew 28:1-8). His Second Coming Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall 10

from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other (Matthew 24:29-31).... Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven (Acts 1:11). Dear Reader, the writer of this tract accepted Jesus Christ to be his personal Saviour some 45 years ago, and since, then, there has not a day passed when he regretted making that decision. If you are born once, you will die twice, but if you are born twice, you will die once. Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). 11

Wait no longer. Accept Christ as your personal Saviour today. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
