Atlantis Beach Baptist College Staff Employment College Overview Application Process Application Forms

Atlantis Beach Baptist College Overview Our College The Atlantis Beach Baptist College was founded by members of the Baptist Communities Ltd. and proposes to open on 18 th July 2016. Atlantis Beach Baptist Community is an exciting vision for a Baptist Church, Baptist College, Baptist Early Learning Centre and Baptist Aged Care Centre to be established on Breakwater Drive Two Rocks, Western Australia. This exciting opportunity has no historical precedent in Western Australia. With the blessing and support of the Baptist Churches of Western Australia and the network affiliated Baptist Colleges, a group of Christian, likeminded, equipped and inspired people came together with a vision for Baptist Communities under the banner of the Baptist Churches of WA. The vision was that God had directed them to impact and serve the growing Perth Northern Coastal communities. We believe the Atlantis Beach Baptist community will bring glory to God and build a legacy for generations to come. The College is a Christian organisation with an open enrolment policy and will be constitutionally known as The Atlantis Beach Baptist College Ltd. The College and Church will be separate organisations that are supportive of each other s purposes. Our College Board will provide Godly and reliable governance. From the time of the initial planting in 2016 of the College in Two Rocks Western Australia, we estimate that our school will flourish to become a Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 College of quality in the northern corridor of Perth, providing for the educational needs of 1500 students. Our College is governed by the College Board and is led in Management by the College Principal and the senior leaders of the College Management Team. The staff leadership of the College includes the College Management Team, consisting of the College Principal, the Coordinator of Primary and the Coordinator of Secondary. The Management portfolios will provide for the effective running of school operations. The College Management Team and the College Board work to honour, empower and support the good work of the staff and the learning opportunities for the students. We strive to progress the quality and development of the campus and we are committed to sound financial planning. Our Mission The Mission of Atlantis Beach Baptist College is to empower all students to achieve and celebrate their personal best within a culture of high expectations and to articulate, demonstrate and value knowledge and skills that will support them, as life-long learners, to establish a lifestyle that honours God and serves others. As an outstanding educational setting, we will exemplify excellence and high expectations in all aspects of our learning community. We will ensure that the diverse needs, achievements and strengths of every individual are recognised, nurtured and celebrated. We will foster a supportive environment, building on the strengths within our unique community. Our key focus will be the development of independent, reflective, responsible and inquiring young people. Our students will be multi-skilled and will joyfully embody a genuine passion for lifelong learning. The Aim of Atlantis Beach Baptist College is to provide all students with the skills, knowledge and wisdom to be successful learners, confident individuals and informed citizens with hearts for service, social responsibility and an awareness of God. The provision of a creative, innovative and inspiring curriculum will enable Atlantis Beach Baptist College to inclusively support great diversity.

College Values Strength, Faith, Honour Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way. Deuteronomy 8:2 Faith in God to provide all our needs according to His purpose. Strength in building a sense of determination and optimism when faced with challenges in learning and life. Honour to respect the uniqueness of others and value teamwork and foster honesty and integrity. Curiosity in instilling a love of learning and a sense of wonder within all members of the learning community. Respect in developing an understanding that all individuals are unique and can make valuable contributions to the community. Self-Discipline in learning, behaviour and life. Perseverance in building a sense of determination and optimism when faced with challenges in learning and life. Compassion and Empathy in fostering respectful and supportive partnerships between leadership, management, staff, teachers, students, parents, families and the wider community. Inclusiveness to promote a sense of belonging through collaboration and mutual respect based on the principles of integrity, honesty and trust. Excellence in empowering all students to achieve and celebrate their personal best within a culture of high expectations. College Community The College will be a Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 learning community that embodies a genuine sense of tolerance and the celebration of diversity. The College will be an educational setting which promotes collaboration, acceptance, respect and individuality. It will be fundamentally linked to the local, wider and global community and actively prepare the students to contribute to each as informed, empowered and empathetic citizens with hearts for God. College Students The students will be recognised for their individual, active and authentic student voice and will be encouraged to become involved in all aspects of the school community. The students will have an awareness of God, value and demonstrate respect for one another and an enjoyable learning environment; encouraged to be positive selfdisciplined learners, have an acceptance and tolerance of diversity; the safety and well-being of all school members; and the opportunity for all to learn. College Staff The College staff will be committed Christians, supportive of the College Vision and Mission. They will provide an outstanding teaching and learning culture. The staff will value the importance of nurturing and respectful relationships with students, within teaching teams and throughout the learning community. They will be highly professional in all aspects of their role; enthusiastic about providing students with a meaningful and inspiring education, willingly embrace a culture of high expectations, achievement and lifelong learning and be passionate about the ministry of the Baptist Colleges to advance God s Kingdom.

College Families The College is open enrolment. The College Families are drawn from the northern corridor of Perth and beyond, who are respectful of the College s Christian ethos and encouraged to be supportive, active partners in their children s education. College Statement of Faith We believe the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God, a divine, supernatural, infallible revelation. We believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of the original writings of the Scriptures and that they are wholly without error as they were given by God. We believe in the Triune God, externally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of God the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. We believe that man, created in the image of God, fell into sin through the sin of the first Adam and in that sense is lost and separated from God. We believe that lost mankind must be born again, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and that salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is empowered to live a godly and victorious life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. For those that are saved, heaven is a place of eternal blessedness. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. College Charter of Goodwill All students and staff have the right to: 1. Learn or teach, free from disruption. 2. Be treated courteously. 3. Be free from any form of unlawful discrimination. 4. Work in a clean, safe and healthy environment. 5. Have their property respected and cared for. Love your neighbour as yourself. Mark 12:31

College Community Care Plan Vision At Atlantis Beach Baptist College we believe the school environment plays a significant role in the social and emotional competence and wellbeing of children and young adults and should be among the safest environments in the community for children and young people. It is essential that all schools promote and provide a supportive learning community where all students feel and are safe. Students have a fundamental right to learn in a safe, supportive environment and to be treated with respect. School staff, parents and the local community also have the right to teach, work and participate in an environment that is safe and supportive. Similarly, parents and other local community members have a right to feel safe, supported and respected in the school context. The Australian community rightly expects all education systems and leaders to take every available measure to ensure the safety of students, and the broader school community, and to protect and support them. In doing this schools will establish clear, transparent and explicit policies and programs to fulfill this important responsibility. The Strategic Plan Framework 1. TEACHING AND LEARNING - To promote academic excellence for all individuals, within a Christian environment. 2. EMPOWERING SCHOOL LEADERSHIP - To empower all individuals to wisely and justly share the responsibility for leadership and development of a positive school climate. 3. MEETING STUDENT AND COMMUNITY NEEDS - To provide a safe, respectful and caring environment, with a love for God and each other. 4. TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY - To purposefully honour the College and Community and to wisely, openly and justly enhance the College future. These Key Areas reflect the federal government s education reform to increase National Standards of Quality in Australian Schools and will be reflected in our School Improvement Plan. Conditions of employment for teaching staff The Education Services (Teachers) Award 2010 is the applicable Award, supplemented by the National Employment Standards. Salaries and working conditions will be competitive with comparative schools. All teaching staff members who are employed on a FTE of 0.8 or greater are provided with a fully maintained laptop. All Teaching staff will contribute to co-curricular duties each academic year. Staff The Staff of the College will be dedicated, committed, energetic and collegial. All staff will be required to support the Christian faith and a strong work ethic, and model high standards of professionalism, personal demeanour and appearance.
