Preparing for Holy Week and Easter In Lent we are encouraged to enhance our discipleship by exploring new possibilities for worship, reflection, discussion, fellowship and charitable giving. We invite all regular worshippers and visitors to consider the range of opportunities on offer at the Cathedral this Lent and to incorporate them into a Lenten discipline or rule. The discipline of Morning and Evening Prayer is central to the life of Blackburn Cathedral and especially during Lent it is important for the worshipping community to pray together on a daily basis. This is enhanced by the provision of music. For reflection and fellowship Confession and spiritual counselling Please contact one of the clergy should you wish to make your confession or to seek spiritual advice during Lent. Bible Studies in Lent On Wednesdays in Lent, exploring Matthew s Gospel and the Stories of Abraham, with both morning and evening sessions. The meetings will be at 1 Cathedral Close on 8, 15, 22, 29 March and 5 April. Matthew s Gospel: A Compendium for Teachers and Learners? From Wednesday 8 March 11.30am-12.30pm, with coffee and cookies served from 11am. We will look informally at Matthew s five blocks of Jesus teaching, beginning with the Sermon on the Mount. Abraham and Sarah: Models of Faith? From Wednesday 8 March 7.30pm-9pm, including coffee and cookies We will explore the Genesis narrative about Abraham, a significant figure for Jewish, Christian and Muslim understanding. We will consider Sarah s role too. How can we connect today with these ancient stories set at the time of the dawn of Israel s history?
