Church Directory 2017-2018 4 Ambassador Baptist Church* Baptist 3720 Lexington Ave N Shoreview, MN 55126 Phone: 651.483.8158 Senior Pastor s info@ambassadorbaptist.org www.ambassadorbaptist.org Bruce Henry pastorbrucehenry@gmail.com Tyler Terlouw College Pastor/Leader s tyler.terlouw@gmail.com College Small Groups: Sundays at 10:30am Sundays at 9:15am CLC Circle at 10:00am Our Sunday morning bible study includes a free hot breakfast! We also offer an activity on Sunday evenings at 7:30. We use this time as a chance to get together and have fun doing things like volleyball, bonfires, etc. Spiritual formation is accomplished in many different ways. We seek to develop disciples through the hearing, studying, and doing of God s Word alongside other believers. Participating in times of fellowship, Sunday services, bible studies, and growth groups will be helpful, but it is not our own works and deeds that will make us grow, rather it is God who transforms us! (Philippians 2:13) 2 Corinthians 5:14, tells us that the love of Christ should compel us to live for God and not ourselves. So while we don t require participation, giving, or service we do believe a heart that is following after God will be compelled to do those things. We encourage our students to get involved in any ministries that would suit them well. Worship is a term that relates to the mindset we should have as we approach every aspect of life. Romans 12 tells us that it is our reasonable worship to give all of ourselves, our lives, to God as a holy sacrifice. Therefore, it is also foundational in the life and ministries of our church. It is always our goal to give God the glory in all that we do (1 Cor. 10:31). College is a time in life where many individuals develop, solidify, or even change their worldview. This is a process that will impact the rest of your life. We offer bible studies, growth groups, and times to connect with other believers going through similar life situations. The goal of our college ministry is to help and encourage you in your pursuit of God and a biblical worldview. diversity do you need to learn and grow? Galatians 3:28 celebrates the unity that is available in Christ. At ambassador we seek to embellish that truth by welcoming all people to experience the love of Christ and a relationship with Him and His church.

Church Directory 2017-2018 5 Bethany Baptist Church Converge Worldwide 2025 Skillman Ave W. Roseville, MN 55113 Phone: (651) 631-0211 bethanyrosevilleoffice@gmail.com www.bethanyroseville.org Kevin Walton Zach Evans Sundays at 10:30am Discipleship is our journey to follow Jesus and become like him through the work of God's Spirit within us. We develop disciples primarily in small groups where we are mutually challenged to live out our faith in community together. Opportunities to serve and engage with people of diverse cultural backgrounds in our church and community is also a significant part of how we grow as disciples. We invite those who regularly participate at Bethany to continue to grow through regular times of worship, small group gatherings, and sharing in service and ministry together. There are no expectations or minimum requirements. Students can join in any and all aspects of our church life as they feel able and led to do so. Worship is central to the life of our church. When we gather together, we are a diverse family of many ages and cultures. But through times of worship God's Spirit unites us and gives us a sense of being one body united in praise. It is the passion we gain by celebrating God's greatness and goodness that inspires us to carry out the various ministries that serve others in our church and community. You have many opportunities on campus to engage with other Christian students. You may not have much opportunity though to be part of a multi-generational family and a diverse community. Come to Bethany because we are a small church that feels like a big family. The young adults group is a vital part woven into the life of the church. They regularly contribute to our music and worship experience. diversity do you need to learn and grow? We are intentionally growing as a multi-ethnic, intercultural community and celebrate this through diverse forms of worship. Many members including our pastor have also lived and served as missionaries in other countries. In addition to our own diversity, we also enjoy times of worship and prayer with a Filipino and a Haitian congregation. We need to grow more by empowering diverse leadership.

Church Directory 2017-2018 6 Bethel Baptist Church WBC Southern Baptist 2100 Delaware Ave Sunfish Lake, MN 55118 Phone: 651.450.9575 bethelbc@msn.com www.bethelmn.org Don Delich not available Sundays at 10:30am Sundays at 9:30am Not available Discipleship to us is a process of growing in our commitment and service for the Lord as we mature in our walk with Jesus. It includes cultivating grace and knowledge (2 Peter 3:18), the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23), and building up one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11 and Hebrews 10:22-25). Our main focus is on the Word of God in Sunday services, all-church Bible studies, and small groups. Obedience must come from the heart, not form pressure or guilt. We teach that genuine discipleship results in stewardship of our time, talents, and treasures. Our hope is that all who regularly participate would be willing to serve the Lord with their spiritual gifts in suitable ministries. We teach that every day of our lives us to be lived in honor and worship of our Lord. Corporate worship draws us together to honor the Lord as the body of Christ and to renew our praise and gratitude for the privilege and responsibility of our ministries. College students face many challenges in leaving home, coming into a new environment, and finding their independence. We want to be like a welcoming family to offer support for these challenges as a church fellowship. College students are invited to participate in the family life of our church. At the moment we have a small number of students in our church fellowship but we have many opportunities for growth and leadership within this ministry. diversity do you need to learn and grow? Ethnic diversity is a major blessing for our church. We have many members from India, Africa, and African-Americans. A Telegu Christian Fellowship meets regularly within our church and many of that fellowship are members of our church. Our blessing of diversity extends to all ministries of our church such as Deacons, Worship Team, Leadership, Vacation Bible School, etc.

Church Directory 2017-2018 7 Bethel Lutheran Church (Mpls) ELCA 4120 17 th Avenue South Minneapolis, MN 55407 Phone: 612.724.3693 bethel@bethel-mpls.org http://www.bethel-mpls.org Brenda Froisland Brenda Froisland College Pastor/Leader #: 651.270.4960 Sundays at 10:30am. Sundays at 9:15am Contact the church to arrange transportation In gratitude, Bethel Lutheran amplifies God's grace, nourishes all creation, reaches out, and builds community. In our faith formation ministry we bridge generations to model, equip, and encourage a foundation of trust in God's story. We develop disciples by BEING the church: building relationships with God & others, reaching out, meeting the needs of our neighbors, and loving all people! As the priesthood of all believers, we expect participants to "live a life worthy of their calling, to which they have been called." (Eph 4:1) To listen to the Holy Spirit in their life and in the life of the church, and engage in the work of loving God and loving our neighbor. We trust one another to share our time, talent, money and stuff as we are able. Worship includes all the ministries of our congregation and all our ministries include worship. That is, we worship God in all we do. Worship does not happen one hour a week on Sunday mornings. Worship happens 27/7. College students need a sense of belonging, trusting relationships, a place to be themselves, and ways and places to live out their passions. We at Bethel are actively trying to initiate such a ministry with college students from throughout the Twin Cities. Join us in sharing our resources and shining our light! Tell us about your church s experience in the area of diversity. What has gone well? In what areas of diversity do you need to learn and grow? Bethel Lutheran believes in radical welcome! All are welcome in our community, without exception. Here is some of our statement of welcome: single married divorced partnered voter apolitical lazy lovable sarcastic happy pierced tattooed bored tall GLBT doubtful criminal straight geeky......... We are currently investigating intentional ministry with people who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Church Directory 2017-2018 8 Bethel Lutheran Church (St. Paul) Lutheran (LCMS) 670 W Wheelock Pkwy Saint Paul, MN 55117 Phone: (651) 488-6681 blc@bethelstpaul.com www.bethelstpaul.com David Seabaugh Anna Zimmerman Sundays at 9:30 am and at 11:00am. We are not Jesus-consumers. We are Jesus-followers. We don t share Jesus with people so that they can just be enlightened. We share the message of Jesus with people so that they can be saved and share that same message with others. Jesus was not all about himself. He was all about us. With Jesus for us, we can be for others. We make disciples who make disciples. When you step into our church, you are stepping into a community. We expect nothing of our guests but to be ready to be loved. Our members are active in service, tithing, etc. Worship is a time for our body as a whole to come together. Our congregation has smaller groups that dive deeper over food and the word. College students face stress: they face the stress of classes, but also the social stress of belonging. At Bethel, we offer a community to belong to and do life with. We address real issues that face Christians today, and teach the truth in love. Equipping students often looks like coffee and one-on-one conversations. diversity do you need to learn and grow? We area very diverse body. We area body of all ages and different cultures. Our church houses both Liberian refugees and Myanmar refugees as well. We are currently learning how to integrate worship so that we don't reflect personal preference for styles, but come together as a body to embrace our loving Father.

Church Directory 2017-2018 9 Bethlehem Baptist Church* Converge Worldwide/Baptist General Conference 5151 Program Ave Mounds View, MN 55112 Phone: 612.455.0800 Senior Pastor s lucas.cecka@campusoutreach.org http://bethlehem.church Jason Meyer Jason.meyer@bethlehem.church Paul Poteat College Pastor/Leader s Paul.poteat@campusoutreach.org Sundays at 11:00am Sundays at 10:00am CLC Circle at 9:45am Our Church really values discipleship. We have a specific ministry for college discipleship called Campus Outreach. Campus Outreach's mission statement is 'Glorifying God by building laborers on the college campus for the lost world'. So our aim is to make disciples on the college campus who want to make disciples. If someone is regularly attending our church we would highly encourage them to become a member and join a small group so that they could do Upreach, Inreach and Outreach. Upreach refers to the act of worshiping God. Inreach refers to the act of reaching into the community of worshipers with the aim of maturing in Christ. Outreach refers to reaching out to those who do not trust in Christ. We believe worship is treasuring God above all things. This is our aim in every ministry at our church. Now the act of worshipping God by singing is something we value and include in every Sunday service before the message. During most of our college events and meetings we put on, we also worship together in prayer and praise. We think the best thing we can offer college students is the gospel. We don't assume the gospel, therefore we prioritize sharing the gospel to the lost. Another need we see for college students is the need for real Christian community. Therefore we have college ministry called Campus Outreach. We have full-time staff at Bethel's campus to make disciples. Tell us about your church s experience in the area of diversity. What has gone well? In what areas of diversity do you need to learn and grow? One of our fourteen priorities at Bethlehem is Ethnic harmony. Our aim is to pursue ethnic diversity by praying for it, preparing for it, probing for it and preferring it by intentionally taking ethnicity into account when making choices about who we will call to the pastoral staff and eldership. We need to grow in this area as a whole and our prayer is to see Bethlehem more diverse.

Church Directory 2017-2018 10 Calvary Church* Converge 2120 Lexington Av. N. Roseville, Minnesota 55113 Phone: (651) 487-2855 Senior Pastor's info@calvarychurch.us www.calvarychurch.us Shawn Winters shawn.winters@calvarychurch.us Larry Largent College Pastor/Leader s tucker.anderson@calvarychurch.us Sundays at11:00am CLC Circle at 10:30am Calvary Church s mission statement is Building relationships, seeing Jesus transform lives. This is the heartbeat of everything that we do and frames our understanding of discipleship. We understand that discipleship is relational, it is Jesus-focused, and it is whole-life transformational. We intentionally seek to incorporate these components into every aspect of life. There are six values that we hope instill in the lives of our church community. We encourage one another to be: devoted followers of Jesus, authentic servants, intentional bridge-builders, courageous risk-takers, compassionate advocates for justice, and generous investors. Calvary recognizes that worship is not confined to a single media source or a single day of the week. Worship is truly an everyday choice, integrated into everything we do. In the church setting, there is a corporate time of worship that joins together a diverse body of Christ followers who want to refocus their hearts and thoughts on that which truly gives life, restores, and deserves praise. A challenge facing college students is finding a church family in which to connect and invest. Calvary Church provides an opportunity for college students to connect with one another off campus and with others in the local community. By connecting at Calvary, students have the opportunity to serve in many different capacities both locally and abroad. diversity do you need to learn and grow? We are a multi-generational and economically diverse congregation. We have worked to reach out to our neighbors in a changing neighborhood. This includes a significant ministry to those reentering society from prison. We also host an Anuak congregation in our building, and yet are not very ethnically diverse. We desire to be a place that appreciates differences and celebrates our unity in Christ.

Church Directory 2017-2018 11 Catalyst Covenant Church* Covenant 1490 Fulham St St Paul MN 55108 Phone: (651)-300-9247 Senior Pastor s info@catalystcovenant.org www.catalystcovenant.org Jeff Olson jeff@catalystcovenant.org Sundays at 10:00 am CLC Circle at 9:30am Catalyst develops disciples by helping people get engrafted into a community where we can study, serve & celebrate together the beauty and truth of Christ. All of us are on a life time journey to know Christ more and be more like him. Some of our more intentional pathways include our home groups (one that meets right off campus) and different ways we can serve in and through our church community. Serving is a regular part of spiritual growth and discipleship. We ask people who call Catalyst home to serve at regular intervals. This not only develops our God given gifts and bring us life to serve but deeply blesses others as well. We believe we are all on mission together and all have ways we can contribute to building up the kingdom of God. (What relationship does worship have to the other ministries of the church?) Worship is a lifestyle, meaning in any act/moment if I am connected to God & responded to him, I can worship. If by worship we mean specifically singing, that too plays a deep role in our church. We believe corporate times of singing help us thank God for all he has done & remind us of Gods presence/attributes when we need those reminders & reminds us of Christ's prayer for his church to be one. College is such an exciting time of life, it is often when most of us are forming & testing the worldview we grew up with. We believe a life focused on following & knowing Christ best prepares us for life ahead of us and that Christ shows us that we can bring our doubts & worries to him. Christianity uniquely provides a framework that makes sense of life and gives it deep meaning & purpose. Tell us about your church s experience in the area of diversity. What has gone well? In what areas do you need to learn and grow? We are a young & growing church & we hope to be always learning & growing in our practice of making the great commission a reality in our context. We are diverse in age, from infants to folks into their 70s. Given the neighborhood (near the U of M) & the growing college student population and our efforts in embodying Gods heart for all nations we have a fairly ethnically diverse community as well.

We see this as our primary goal of discipleship. We develop disciples through worship, teaching, community, small groups, and a real, personal encounter with Jesus Christ. We are a community of around 220 on a Sunday. Because of this, there are many opportunities to be a part of the worship service and the mission of the church. We welcome everyone, but do feel being a true disciple is to engage in the mission of the church and to point towards Christ. There are opportunities to be involved in worship, in working with youth, in engaging the neighborhood. We have worship as the center of our church on Sunday mornings. We mix a variety of styles and welcome involvement from all people of the church. We believe that worship will center us and naturally flow through to all ministries. The challenges we see with college students is trying to balance a new stage of life with commitment to Christ, while being a part of a new community. The congregation that is very welcoming to students and have the opportunity for mentorship and learning from retired missionaries and pastors, as well as other young adults. We have a Sunday school class and opportunities for small group ministry. Tell us about your church s experience in the area of diversity. What has gone well? In what areas of diversity do you need to learn and grow? Central is an urban church that engages with our neighborhood. Our Sundays are becoming more diverse, but it is our programming during the week that has the most diversity - including our Wednesday night youth activities and our tutoring. This has been part of the ethos of Central for years, but we are continuing to work to have our church better reflect the neighborhood.

Church Directory 2017-2018 16 Church of the Redeemer* Anglican 3245 New Brighton Road Arden Hills MN 55112 Phone: 651.237.2040 Senior Pastor s info@oftheredeemer.org www.oftheredeemer.org Paul Calvin paul@oftheredeemer.org Roger Christensen College Pastor/Leader s info@oftheredeemer.org Sundays at 4:30 pm CLC Circle at 4:15pm Discipleship is the path of being transformed into the image Jesus Christ, by the power of his Holy Spirit. Discipleship occurs "through corporate and private worship, prayer, and Bible reading; fellowship with God's people; pursuit of holiness; witness toward those who do not know Christ; and acts of love toward all." Faith in Christ is demonstrated through participation in worship, giving freely of one's time and financial resources, and being Christ's witness in the world. Church of the Redeemer's mission is to join in Christ's ministry of reconciliation through worship, testimony, and faithful presence. Worship is central to the life of our church. In worship, we sit at God's feet, learn from his word, and eat from his table. We are then sent out as witnesses of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer and worship are at the foundation of all other ministries of the church. College is an important time of discovery, both about yourself and how you desire to interact with the world around you. We invite students to explore these questions within the fellowship of the church through community groups, mentoring relationships, and retreats. Our church is a community where people care for each other and can freely share their joys, sorrows, and questions. Tell us about your church s experience in the area of diversity. What has gone well? In what areas of diversity do you need to learn and grow? We desire to be a diverse community, where people of all nations and ages worship with one another. We are thankful for the fellowship that we share with other Anglican Christians around through Word and Sacrament. Just as the Church is diverse yet one, we pray that our local congregation may reflect both diversity and unity.

These groups are designed to build relationship as members dig into God's Word (weekly Sunday sermons) together and encourage one another in the faith. We expect each member of the church to tithe and participate in church activities as they are available. Non-members are not held to these standards. Our worship services prepare us to tackle the remainder of the week, specifically Wednesday evenings when we reach out to the community. Worship ushers us into the presence of God through the Holy Spirit. Many college students face the challenge of prioritizing. School, ministry, and life need a healthy balance. We strongly encourage students to attend weekly church services and get involved in a life-on-life group to ensure they are held accountable. Right now our young adult ministry meets weekly. diversity do you need to learn and grow? Our church staff is diverse (Caucasian, Native American, Ugandan). Our church body is also diverse as over 30% of the congregation is ethnic. Due to our focus on discipleship we have developed very strong relationships which has enabled us to reach a broad spectrum of people groups. We need to continue to ensure all people feel welcome and valued in order to move forward.

Discipleship creates opportunities for people to be transformed through relationship with Jesus. During our services we engage in dialogue in small groups. This starts the process of building relationships and allows processing. We have connection groups, designed to build relationships and allow discipleship to take place. We strive to move from consumer to contributor of our time, talents, and treasures. We strive to do life as God designed it: in community. A part of a body is not whole apart from the sum of all the parts. (What relationship does worship have to the other ministries of the church?) Worship should be a part of our daily lives. As such, our services provide opportunity to model worship through music. College students must navigate what the world, their background, and the Bible says. They must decide what they believe. Society and social media place unrealistic expectations on them, which they must weed through. Students must figure out what their passions are and how to live those out. Rather than a separate college program, we believe all ages can learn from and encourage each other. Tell us about your church s experience in the area of diversity. What has gone well? In what areas do you need to learn and grow? We believe relationship goes beyond skin tone, age, occupation, political beliefs, etc. However, we recognize that what makes us unique also affects our understanding of each other. We strive to be a safe place for all.

We thus provide numerous opportunities to serve others and work for justice in our world. College means a wide range of new choices and adventures. Our community hopes to be a "Home away from Home" for young adults who wish to stay grounded in their faith and to connect with caring Christians who will help accompany them on their faith journey. We offer hospitality after each Mass to encourage community building. We also have a young adult group that meets weekly. diversity do you need to learn and grow? We also train and equip when people serve in various ministries. We believe that worship, community and serving are key ingredients to spiritual formation. We expect spiritual growth. This looks different for every person because people are at different places. However, we do expect those who become members to regularly attend, serve, join a Community Group, and be generous in their giving. Worship is our central focus at Edinbrook. Our ultimate aim is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, ultimately leading to worship in spirit and truth. Thus, we put lots of time and energy into our worship service and are always looking for gifted vocalists and musicians who can help lead the church in God-glorifying worship. One challenge college students face is simply a need for Christ-centered community. We have two groups that are made up of authentic young adults. Also, Bethel students are learning a biblical worldview, but they need a place to put their learning into practice. Edinbrook is looking for college students who'd like to get involved and serve and learn how to become better leaders. diversity do you need to learn and grow? Edinbrook Church is still learning how to be more diverse. We are looking for more ways to show that diversity matters to us and that all people groups are being reconciled through Jesus Christ. One thing we recently did because of the racial tension in the US is invite members on stage from different ethnic backgrounds to pray peace, forgiveness, and blessings over our culture.

We have church wide leadership pipeline, Starting Point, along with department specific discipleship strategies to help equip and empower our leaders. We expect for each individual to respond as God leads them. Prayer, worship, giving, and serving are all big heart pieces for us and so there are points in our services that we will teach and unpack these various values. As previously stated, worship is a big heart piece for our church. Worship is used both on Sunday and mid-week activities. From a YOUTH service on Wednesday nights to a kid's service on Sunday morning, there will be an element of worship in everything that we do. There are various challenges that college students face from relationships, personal habits, to spiritual disciplines; we understand that is a journey and a part of our shepherd hearted leader model we believe in helping train up leaders to be on the journey with people. We have a Young Adults ministry called "Collective" that meets for quarterly community events and monthly /bi-weekly connect groups (small groups). diversity do you need to learn and grow? We have had very positive experience in diversity but we are still growing. We see over 30 different nationalities in our weekend services and continue to see God adding to that number. We are continuing to grow in having different nationalities represented on the platform for weekend services.

As we pursue our mission of equipping Christfollowers, the new model will emphasize: Belong - being a part of a faith community (understand self in community) Grow - in personal faith as a part of that community (God's calling) Serve - as a response to God's calling on our lives (and building a deeper sense of belonging) We'd expect that regular participants join in to the discipleship cycle (prayer, tithing, service, etc.). During our Sunday services, musical worship serves as a time of preparation for and response to how God might be speaking through other aspects of the service. We also have occasional worship gatherings outside of Sunday mornings. These are more intimate times of joining together as a community to celebrate what God is doing in our lives. One challenge for college students is connecting with people outside the university environment. We are a smaller congregation (100-150 on a Sunday), but we have many people who love investing in others. While we don't have any programs specifically for college students, there are many opportunities for growth alongside others with more life experience. diversity do you need to learn and grow? We are unfortunately not an ethnically diverse congregation. We are however a multi-generational church. Our partnerships with other ministries and organizations that reach an ethnically and economically diverse population have gone well, but we recognize there is room to grow in specific outreach to a more diverse population.
