The Orthodox worship service is an ancient and timeless expression of how people have loved, served and worshipped God for many centuries, but it may be a bit of a different experience for you. Please feel free to use a service book or not and simply allow the words of the service to wash over you. The central act of our worship culminates in people receiving communion. This is a very special time for us all and we have some specific beliefs about our communion together. This is why we never impose this service on those who are not prepared or are not baptized Orthodox. This service may raise questions in your mind. Please feel free to ask Fr. Barnabas or Fr. GOSPEL READING The Reading is from Luke 13:10-17 At that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. NICHOLAS TODAY, December 8th - Immediately following the Divine Liturgy, we will have a visit from St. Nicholas. He will be bringing a small gift for every child. The story of St. Nicholas will be told and pictures with the children and St. Nicholas will be taken. Please let Ginny (officeadmin@stsrni.org) know if you will attend and how many children you will bring. CHRISTMAS PRESENTATION BY CHURCH SCHOOL CHILDREN Sunday, December 22nd - The Sts. RNI Sunday School will present a Nativity Carol immediately following the Divine Liturgy. All of the Sunday School classes will meet in the Youth Room during Sunday School to practice and rehearse. Each child is being sent home with a copy of the carols he/she will be singing on the 22nd. We ask that you help by practicing the carols with your child during the week. RNI parishioners, will be collecting non-perishable food items and toys to deliver to St. John the Wonderworker in Atlanta and The Place right here in Forsyth County.
