The December 22, 2013 Volume 26 Issue 18 V I S I ON Terry Parker Baptist Church Love God, Love People, Share the Good News Lessons and Carols Sunday, December 22, 10:30 AM A traditional service of scripture readings and Christmas carols sung by the congregation Christmas Eve Worship Tuesday, December 24, 6:00 PM Christmas carols, Scripture readings, a Christmas message, Lighting candles, and taking the light of Christ into the World

From the Senior Pastor As we celebrate the season of God s gift of a Savior I also want to celebrate the kindness and generosity of our congregation. In November we challenged our folks to give food to be shared with our neighbors through Arlington Community Services and our members responded wonderfully, giving more than a thousand pounds of food. Thank you for giving so much for the glory of our God! In December we are focusing on giving special gifts for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. Our Church Goal is $10,000 and through December 8 we have given $4,211! Thank you for these gifts. Now let s all give as the Lord leads us so that the peoples of the world may hear the good news of God s love. We are preparing two very special worship experiences to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Lessons and Carols of Christmas will be the theme of our Worship Celebration on Sunday, December 22. Join us for this special service of scripture readings and Christmas carols sung by the congregation. Christmas Eve Worship is a special gathering of our members and friends to celebrate the Father s love on the night of the birth of the Son. We will sing carols, read scriptures, hear a Christmas message There s a Song in the Air light candles and take the Light of Christmas into the world. Invite everyone to join us on December 24 at 6:00 PM for this special hour of worship. May the blessings of joy and peace be yours as we celebrate the birth of the Savior and contemplate the great love of God that allows us to be His children through faith in the Christ Child! Shalom, Howard Goodwin Christian Discipleship and [Jesus] said, Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3 ESV Christ shows that one s age and maturity, or even lack thereof, put no obstacle in the way of his blessings, but rather that children were an acceptable standard by which one s fitness for his kingdom could be reasonably tested. but Jesus said, Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:14 ESV They who would enter Christ's kingdom must be pure, simple, and obedient, as little children. That is why he says, "to such," not merely "to these," suggesting that it is not just the matter of age, but that it is a matter of disposition and character, to which he refers! Much of what is best about Christmas is also experienced in the spirit of child-like innocence and wonder before the sense of entitlement and the burdens of obligation encumber the joy of the holiday. Among our congregation there are many who nurture Christian growth and model spiritual formation for children and teenagers. I am personally grateful for their faithfulness in ministry, so, Thank You to: Gospel Project Leaders for Preschoolers, Children & Students Our Hispanic Children s Bible Study leaders Kids In Discipleship aka TeamKID Leaders As well as the Tuesday night Los Sin Vergüenzas Student Ministry & Our Wednesday Night Student Ministry Flyte Crew And finally, the Summer Bible School/Camp leaders and support teams.
