Page 3 2.0 SALUTATIONS And We delivered him and the inmates of Ark, and We made it a sign unto the people of the worlds. Qur an: Sura al-ankabut, Verse 15. The likeness of my Household (Ahl ul-bayt) is that of the Ark of Noah, whosoever entered it would be saved, and whosoever turned away from it, would be drowned and perished. Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (saww), Peace be with him and his Pure Progeny With the commencement of Ayyam-e-Gham Imam Hussain (as), we offer our salutations to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww), Janab-e-Fatima Zehra(sa) and Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib (as). Salutations to the Holy and Pure Progeny of the Great Prophet. May the Almighty hasten the return of Imam-e-Zamaan (as). 3.0 MESSAGE FROM HUJJATUL ISLAM SAIYED MEHBOOB MEHDI ABIDI al-najafi In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, All praise be to Allah (SWT) and blessings and benedictions be upon the Holy Prophet (saww) and his Ahl ul-bayt (as), the pure and virtuous. The month of Muharram 1431 has come. The month in which victory was for the oppressed against the tyrants and despots. The month in which truth triumphed over falsehood. The month in which Imam Hussain (as), son of Ali and Fatima, and grandson of the Holy Prophet (saww) presented the Great Sacrifice for the sake of Islam and humanity at Karbala, Iraq. The message of Karbala is actually the message of Justice and Equity, Sacrifice and Valor, Courage and Steadfastness, Ethics and Character, Belief and faith against impossible odds. The cry of "Ya Hussain" even today can be the good news for the suffering of mankind which is immersed in difficulties and problems. From the nucleus of a family extending to the nation and the world, the lessons of Karbala could be a beacon light for the suffering masses. Unfortunately, most of our present world is not aware of Imam Hussain (as) and Karbala and the true import of the lessons of life it represents. It is our duty to spread this message of Hussain (as), by understanding it ourselves and setting forth a shining example for others to understand and follow. Allah (SWT) has once again given us this opportunity this Muharram. The Majalis of Imam Hussain (as) have started. The commemoration of the tragedy of Karbala has begun. This great University - the Mimber -will convey to us during the Azadari the principles of Islam and Enlightenment. We should attend these sermons. We should take our children with us and devote time to explain what they do not understand. We should make our centers strong with a renewed sense of unity and selflessness and learn the lessons of life and death from Imam Hussain (as) and his companions. May Allah (SWT) grant you all the reward of attending the Majalis Imam Hussain (as) and enhance your knowledge and understanding of Islam. May Allah imbibe in you the true spirit of Islam through sincere actions and steadfastness in faith and grant you success and prosperity in the world and in the Hereafter. Please ask the VT for assistance if you are unsure where/how to park. 12.1 Parking Tips The dedicated and brave Volunteer Team organizes and manages parking at IEC. Even in inclement weather while enduring bitter cold, the VT makes a great sacrifice to manage multiple parking areas, including shuttle service to overflow parking lots. All Azadars are requested to follow their direction and exercise patience. IEC is expecting unprecedented traffic during the Ayyam-e-Aza. Please take note of the parking tips listed below. The VT will be present to help and assist to the best of their abilities. Parking Tips: 1. Follow all directions given by the Volunteer Team. Please pull completely into your parking spot. 2. Please carpool whenever possible. Please prepare for a large number of arriving and/or departing Mu mineen and Mu minaat constantly during programs. Please be patient and follow the instructions of the VT when loading and unloading passengers. 3. Safety first. Drive slow. Please be patient. Entry and exit will be slow. Safety is first priority. 4. Azadar drop-off and pick-up will be only be at the VT designated areas and not any place else. 5. Larger vehicles (i.e. Van, SUV, Truck) are requested NOT to be parked in the center parking aisles. The length of these vehicles often hinders and/or obstructs proper traffic flow. Larger vehicles parked in the center parking aisles have an increased susceptibility to scratches, dents and damage. Please park larger vehicles on the outer aisles of the parking lot and gravel park located in the back of the property. IEC is not responsible for damage to vehicles. Please exercise caution while parking. continued...

IEC would like to make a few recommendations to you with the intent that these will prove helpful in your daily visit. IEC hopes to provide its Mu mineen and Mu minaat with the best experience at every program. Jazakum Allah Khair. Recommendations: 1. Boys and Girls must be in the company and under the supervision of their parents at all times at IEC. Sons MUST sit with their Fathers in the main hall during majlis. Daughters MUST do the same with their Mothers. Boys five (5) years of age or older are not allowed in any part of the lower level ladies hall and/or rooms. Unsupervised boys who sneak into the lower level often misbehave, disturb Mu minaat and make noise. IEC is not liable for any harm or injury to a child due to lack of parental supervision. Please be advised that the VT will be monitoring both halls, common hallways, rooms and stairwells for unaccompanied children and enforcing their return to their father or mother. Please speak with your child before attending majlis and remind them of IEC s disciplinary expectations. 2. Please keep IEC Husaini CLEAN! Please appropriately dispose of any waste including used plates, cups, napkins and utensils. Please put litter in its place. Please do not litter outside of IEC. 3. Please be vigilant of any person wandering in the parking lot or approaching Mu mineen and Mu minaat offering stories and/or requesting monetary assistance on IEC property. Please report suspicious behavior to IEC VT immediately, even if the person is Muslim or not. Please do not engage the person in conversation. 4. Please do NOT congregate in the men s coat room or on any neighborhood street. Smokers can use the portico sidewalk and front door sidewalk. 14.0 THANK YOU We certainly hope this Ayyam-e-Gham Imam Hussain (as) - Program Guide provided useful information.
