INSTRUCTIONS 1. Parents these cards are to assist you with what we are learning about in GraceKids for the next two months. 2. On February 26, 2016 we will have a section review and kids will earn a grand prize for what they remember from this block of instruction. 3. The front of each card is what the child learns and knows. The back has information for you to help you understand what we are learning. We do NOT cover all the information on the back on Sunday s 4. The goal of these two months is to give the children a working knowledge of the organization of the Bible. 5. The methodology is a series of questions and then learned answers to the questions. These answers should lead to more questions. These will be great opportunities for you to discuss the Bible and your faith with your child. 6. The pictures are designed to help with memory! They are also designed to be easy to draw, having your children draw them during the week will increase their retention of information. WHAT IS THE WORD OF GOD? MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN 1/9/2017 WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? The Good News of God s salvation for sinners January 29, 2017 WHAT ARE THE GOSPEL BOOKS? January 29, 2017 17
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? Good news (newspaper) God Salvation (a life saver) Sinners (a robber) God loves us. Because he loves us he tells us in the Bible how we can be in heaven with him. He gave us the Ten Commandments (the Law) to help us see how good or bad we are. Let s look at them again: Have you ever lied? Have you ever taken anything that didn t belong to you? Have you always obeyed your parents? If you have ever hated someone, the Bible says that s like committing murder in your heart. The Ten Commandments show us how bad we really are. They are the standard God will use to judge our lives. One day God will punish all people who have broken any of the Ten Commandments. They will be sent to hell. Even though that is a scary thought, there is GOOD NEWS! God loves us so much that He made a way for us to be forgiven so we don t have to be punished. Even though we have lied, stolen, disobeyed, even hated someone, God still made a way for us to be forgiven! God sent his son, Jesus Christ, Jesus lived a perfect life. Then he died on the cross to pay for our wrongdoing. He took the punishment you deserve. Then after three days Jesus rose from the grave defeating death! The Bible says you should repent of doing the things that displease God and should put your faith in what Jesus did for you on the cross. When you do, God will help you obey him. Then read the Bible and grow in a new life with Jesus. January 29, 2017 WHAT ARE THE GOSPEL BOOKS? Book MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN Themes Jesus is the Jewish Messiah and promised King. WHAT IS NEW TESTAMENT PROPHECY? Assurance (a check mark i.e. correct) The book of Acts was written by Luke who wrote the gospel of Luke. The Authors are the names of the books. Gospel Presentation here: (Way of the Master) God Win (A trophy for 1st place) February 19, 2017 WHAT ARE NEW TESTAMENT PROPHECY BOOKS? Revelation as Apocalyptic Literature The word revelation is a translation of the Greek word apokalupsis, from which we get the English words apocalypse and apocalyptic. An apocalypse is a special kind of prophecy. It features dramatic, symbolic predictions of the future communicated to a prophet in a vision. The Old Testament contains apocalyptic sections in Daniel, Ezekiel, and Zechariah. Much of the Book of Revelation is apocalyptic Because of its many symbols, apocalyptic prophecy is harder to interpret than any other kind of Scripture. It helps to remember that Revelations purpose is to comfort and challenge its readers. It affirms God s sovereign control over history and the certainty of His plan for the future. It reminds us that our present difficulties have a connection to the future, a future firmly in God s hands. Christ is coming back. He will be in judgment, rewarding those who have remained faithful to him. It inspires us to overcome all obstacles and steadfastly hold on to our faith. February 19, 2017 26
