The Greater Story Celebrating 70 years at CCWNY This has been such a wonderful theme as we have been celebrating this significant milestone. Many times this summer I told our staff and campers that they are a part of the greater Camp Cherith story. Just as each person is special and significant to God, so they are special to us at Camp Cherith. It s amazing to see each summer how God works through this ministry. Nothing brought this home for me better than seeing the all the friends that attended our CILT graduation and 70th reunion weekend. On Friday night former cilt grads lined the path to light the way for the campers and class of 2016. It was a delight to see 6 of our campers graduate from the program (see page 4). On Saturday and Sunday the 70th anniversary reunion continued with hiking, crafts, games, a cookout and other camp activities. Saturday evening there was a campfire by the lake complete with songfest and testimonies. Hearing from that multi-generational group gathered there (spanning back from the 1950 &60 s) was so meaningful to me. As the current director I was so blessed to hear testimonies about how God has worked in the lives of these folks and how coming back to CCWNY was like coming home. I am reminded of God s faithfulness in the past, present and future. Psalm 89:1 says; I will sing of the LORD s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I pray that Camp Cherith of Western New York will continue to do this for many years to come! Rufous This summer, my dream came true: I was able to bring my 9 year-old for her first week at the camp that meant so much to me growing up. Sharing the people and place that I love deeply was exciting. She was able to be in her own cabin group while I worked in the kitchen and taught outdoor skills. We got to have fun climbing the oak tree together: I need to work out so I can keep up with her next time! I pray that God will continue to use Camp Cherith to grow our family personally and spiritually. Indigo (Christine Martin) Are you doing Morning Watch at home? Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a great year so far. Keep living for Jesus every single day. It is not always easy, but true freedom comes when we surrender ourselves to Him. Love, Barny. Always remember the joy of gutter Sundaes and Jesus! Bob Remember it s always ok to be That Girl, you ve been called to be different than the rest of the world! Pteri Remember to spend time in God's word. It helps you get to know God and is filled with the hope of God's promises :) Love you all! -Jay "Remember that God s work doesn't end when camp does! The bug bites may end, you may not see some friends for a year, but God is still there right by your side. '...be content with what you have, for God has said never will I leave you, never will I forsake you' Heb 13:5. Enjoy life away from camp and enjoy how God s work never stops. Love, Kori" "Just like we try new things at camp, don't be afraid to try new things at home!" Swift "Remember that God will always love you and you have no need to fear anything. Nixx Remember to take some time to soak in God s creation during the school year! See you soon! Cedar "All of creation is praising God with its majesty, and it makes me want to talk about science (even in the trees) because it shows just how cool our Creator is. Song

Campers in Leadership Training Congratulations 2016 Graduates CILT grads left to right:: Grace Elliot, Gabby Arrow, Stephanie Willow, Rachel Hazel, Max Nixx, Tessa Harper As we celebrated our 70th Anniversary it was very special to have 6 graduates join our multigenerational former graduates. CILT is a program that prepares campers to be leaders, both in and outside of camp. Many staff surrounded these campers as they journeyed through CILT, guiding them and helping them develop their gifts and skills. At the Friday night campfire on July 22, campers, staff, family, and former CILT graduates gathered to help them celebrate their completion of the program. We look forward to seeing the awesome path God has in store for each of them! A Message from ROO... Once upon a time, at a beautiful place named Camp Cherith, many children had a wonderful summer. Games were played, songs were song, the Border Explorer was hiked, and most importantly, people learned about Jesus... This is how our story of summer 2016 would begin. I hope you had a great summer and time at camp. I know I did! As I reflect on our summer and our summer theme The Greater Story, I feel so blessed to have been able to be a part of God's greater story at CCWNY this year. I hope you all do too. Whether you joined us in outer space, the kingdom, enjoying the movies, hearing from superheroes, or looking for gold in the old west, we hope you made many memories. Mostly, we hope you know you have a large piece in God's greater story... The story of God's Kingdom! I pray that you can all be "confident in this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6). We love you and hope you have a great year! Roo
