Visual Identity Standards Manual

Introduction The Visual Identity Standards Guide provides a clear representation of what the Kids In Discipleship (K.I.D.) Ministry identity is. The K.I.D. identity reflects the mission and vision of the ministry. Adhering to the standards of this guide will help represent the ministry in a consistent and professional manner. Visual identity has become a powerful positioning tool for organizations to demonstrate their uniqueness and professionalism. Imagine stepping into an office where everything is cluttered and nothing seems put together, you would easily begin to question the credibility and quality of work of the professional owning the office. Having a clear identity that portrays unity and consistency provides a powerful message and shows the quality of work of an organization. This guide will help you know how to and how not to use the K.I.D. logo, provide the colors that are appropriate to use and typefaces/fonts for various documents. This guide will also provide design examples to help you easily develop materials needed for events. The goal of design is consistency, not standardization. As the movement continues to grow the visual identity of the ministry should remain consistent in all parts of the world making it recognizable to any individual that comes across it. For any questions or concerns, please contact the K.I.D. Ministry office at (423)893-3266 or e-mail us at kidcenter@kidsindiscipleship.org.

LOGO The logo is the most identifiable image of who and what K.I.D. is. It was created to specifically represent the ministry in all its communication. The logo cannot be modified or changed. Ways you can use the logo will be shown below. The proportions and positioning of logo elements are imperative in maintaining the integrity of the mark. Using any combination other than what is exampled is not permitted under no circumstances, in any media. The icon or logo mark is always stacked and a left-adjusted position with the wordmark or logotype. Positioning it to the center or right of the wordmark is not permitted. The logo is also available in black to be used on black & white documents. ICON WORD MARK Main Logo: CMYK or 3 spot colors (PMS 2955, PMS 2612, PMS 3145) Other variations of the logo:

Photography Photography is an integral part of the K.I.D. Ministry identity. All photos should represent the K.I.D. mission, display a clean, fresh look, be modern, have ethnic diversity, portray children of ages 7-13 (as best as possible), and families from diverse backgrounds (grandparents, single parents, etc). Photos should not require much Adobe Photoshop technique, but be appealing and dynamic without the effects. The K.I.D. Ministry office has a collection of stock photos that may be available for local marketing materials. For pictures, please contact the office at kidcenter@kidsindisicpleship.org. For printing in the best quality, photos should be saved in TIFF format. For on-screen, photos can be used as JPEG. Examples:

Design Examples Stringent layout design has not been determined, but below are some samples of the general look of design for different types of publications and documents. Examples: DISCIPLESHIP Mentoring kids to be empowered disciples of Jesus now! What is Kids In Discipleship? Kids in Discipleship (K.I.D.) is a ministry that equips congregations, parents, and mentors to implement the model of discipleship described in Deuteronomy. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:4-7 NIV Through this intentional discipleship focus, parents/mentors and children grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another. Families are then empowered to use their gifts in worship, ministry, and mission. Why disciple children? Current research shows that there is a clear window of time in which to secure our children s hearts to Jesus. According to barnaresearch.org, people are most open to accepting Jesus between the ages of 5-13. After that time it becomes more difficult to make this life-changing decision. How are children discipled? Footprints for Kids is a 24 lesson intergenerational Bible study course, where parents and mentors work alongside their children and participate in a highly interactive small group. Footprints for Kids lessons assist adults as they mentor their children in three areas: 1) Build Your Relationship with Jesus 2) Know the Truth of Jesus 3) Share Jesus with Others. Each lesson also includes a take-home resource that reinforces the points of the Bible study. How are Parents/Mentors equipped to disciple their own children? Before participating in Footprints for Kids, parents and mentors go through Footprints for Parents & Mentors, a set of 12 small group Bible studies drawn from the lives of Bible characters that equips adults to become the primary spiritual nurturers of their own children. Parents and mentors learn to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and learn how to be intentional as they disciple their children to Jesus. The K.I.D. Designed for Families, Focused on Children! KID Brochure 2009:Layout 1 2/11/09 09:34 Page 1 K.I.D. supports existing local church ministries The whole church is blessed when children and their parents/mentors grow as disciples of Jesus. There is a personal revival of spiritual growth. Adults and children become passionate about using their gifts in local church ministries, including: Family Ministries Church School Mission Projects Women s Ministries Community Outreach Children s Ministries Youth Ministries Sabbath School Evangelism Pathfinder Club Adventurer Club Holiday Bible Club what is K.I.D.? Kids In Discipleship (K.I.D.) is a mentoring ministry that is conducted in local churches. K.I.D. is designed for families and focuses on the spiritual needs of the children in their journey with Jesus. During K.I.D. events: Parents grow as disciples of Jesus and learn how to disciple their own children. Children learn to spend time with Jesus every day and are mentored to use their gifts in worship, ministry and mission. Families grow closer to each other and to Jesus. Together they participate in weekly interactive small group Bible studies and enjoy take-home resources designed to encourage spiritual mentoring in the home. Congregations embrace children as a vital part of today s church. why disciple children? Studies reveal that: People are most open to accepting Jesus between the age of 5 and 13. After that it is a lot harder to make this life-changing decision. Therefore: Childhood is the prime time for making a commitment to Jesus. www.barnaresearch.org In Deuteronomy 6:4-9 we find a model for discipleship. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD IS ONE. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates. God calls parents to be the primary spiritual mentors of their children, yet many parents are unsure of what to do. Where can they turn for help? K.I.D. shows parents, children and church members how they can work together to disciple children for Jesus. K.I.D. sponsors Individuals and families who have a passion to disciple children for Jesus.
