Missions Thanksgiving and Advent/Christmas The Christmas Shoeboxes This is a project to give the children around the world a chance to experience the joy of receiving gifts for the Christmas season and an opportunity to explain why people care about them and want to share the Christmas spirit with them. There is information available in the upstairs hallway behind the sanctuary. This project ends November 11, 2015 Thanksgiving Food Boxes for Orange High School FBC has been part of the Hillsborough community to help families at Orange High- School that need help to have a healthy and filling Thanksgiving week-end. The part that FBC does is to provide fifty cans of the following for these meals such as: greens, stuffing, canned fruit, aluminum foil, canned sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, canned corn and other items that are needed. Right now, we are waiting for the list to come to us so we can ask our Sunday school classes to volunteer to collect these items to be taken to the school to add to other supplies that have been collected This project ends November 22, 2015 Prison Ministry for gift bags for prisoners Christmas present. The chaplain has asked that we provide 220 deodorant roll-ons. The request is that the items all be the same to prevent any feeling of inequality in the product. These are available at the Dollar Tree Store and if we order them online early enough it is easy to accomplish this project. THEREFORE, we need collect $1.00 or more from everyone so we can take care of this ministry. This project ends December 7, 2015 Prisoner Toy Drive FBC has been a part of this ministry for over 30 years. We bring our gifts for children of all ages: infants, toddlers, school age, and adolescents. There are about 15 Baptist churches that help to support this project. The chaplain then allows the fathers to select a toy for their children and the pleasure of wrapping the gifts to present to their children during the Christmas party. This project ends December 7, 2015 (continued on page 4)

Missions-Thanksgiving and Advent/Christmas (Continued from page 2) Christmas Angel Tree FBC decorates a Christmas tree that is placed in the hall behind the sanctuary. On the tree will be a Christmas tags with a high school students names that will not receive a Christmas gift without our help. Each student will have two tags. One tag will be for a gift that has a $35.00 -- $40.00 range, and the second tag will be for an item of clothing (sweat suit, shoes, shirt, underwear these are requested by the student or parent) This project ends December 13, 2015 Christmas Food Boxes for Orange High School Students This project is a continuation of the Thanksgiving project. All of the children are on free lunch, which means that there is little food in the home. The Christmas holiday presents a problem because: one the school is out for two weeks with no help in providing food and two: it is the end of the month and the food stamps are usually gone by this time in the month. Therefore, we help the school and community provide help for this situation in collecting food for this period of time that they are out of school. This project ends December 13, 2015
LIFT:gather More Tellers Needed Among the many opportunities available to serve at FBCH, the need has recently surfaced for additional tellers. Tellers serve in pairs once every six to eight weeks for about an hour at the conclusion of the second service to count and record the weekly tithes and offerings of the church. No experience is necessary; however the teller team is one of our Foundational Committees which requires church membership for service. If you would like to know more, please contact Sue Bulfin: 919-644-7372, wjbsrb@nc.rr.com Not sure? Sue can arrange for you to sit with teller any Sunday to better understand this important ministry of our church. Please Note: If you would like additional information about the many other ministry teams and opportunities available for service, just drop a note in the offering plate during worship or reach out to the church office. The Ministry Placement Committee wants to help everyone find a place to serve. Serving on one of the many ministry teams at FBCH is more than volunteering time it is responding to God s call to each of us to share in the ministry of His church.
