Missions Thanksgiving and Advent/Christmas The Christmas Shoeboxes This is a project to give the children around the world a chance to experience the joy of receiving gifts for the Christmas season and an opportunity to explain why people care about them and want to share the Christmas spirit with them. There is information available in the upstairs hallway behind the sanctuary. This project ends November 11, 2015 Thanksgiving Food Boxes for Orange High School FBC has been part of the Hillsborough community to help families at Orange High- School that need help to have a healthy and filling Thanksgiving week-end. The part that FBC does is to provide fifty cans of the following for these meals such as: greens, stuffing, canned fruit, aluminum foil, canned sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, canned corn and other items that are needed. Right now, we are waiting for the list to come to us so we can ask our Sunday school classes to volunteer to collect these items to be taken to the school to add to other supplies that have been collected This project ends November 22, 2015 Prison Ministry for gift bags for prisoners Christmas present. The chaplain has asked that we provide 220 deodorant roll-ons. The request is that the items all be the same to prevent any feeling of inequality in the product. These are available at the Dollar Tree Store and if we order them online early enough it is easy to accomplish this project. THEREFORE, we need collect $1.00 or more from everyone so we can take care of this ministry. This project ends December 7, 2015 Prisoner Toy Drive FBC has been a part of this ministry for over 30 years. We bring our gifts for children of all ages: infants, toddlers, school age, and adolescents. There are about 15 Baptist churches that help to support this project. The chaplain then allows the fathers to select a toy for their children and the pleasure of wrapping the gifts to present to their children during the Christmas party. This project ends December 7, 2015 (continued on page 4)

Steve and Millie have been married for 15 years. Steve has a background in Train Control; Millie is a Physical Therapist who spends her time as Mom and ministering with Good News Club at Central Elementary. Steve is also active with Good News Club, thanks to Lynn Roberts (she picks Matthew up from school and brings him to Central)! Matthew is a 7th Grader at Cresset Christian Academy; he loves sports, Minecraft, and Pokemon. Steve's Aunt Carol lives with us in Efland. We have a dog, Buddy and a hermit crab, Crawley. Madeleine (left) and Victoria Make an extra effort to introduce yourself to new members and to guests you see each Sunday. It makes a difference! Millie, Steve, and Matthew Victoria and Madeleine Hudson have resided in Hillsborough since 2011. Their former home is Rockingham, NC. Victoria moved here for an employment opportunity with the Orange County Health Department in the Environmental Health Section. She has two grown sons, living in Durham and Greenville NC. Prior to moving, Victoria worked in the same field and was an active member of Roberdel Baptist Church, serving on the Finance Committee (also teller); as Librarian; was a participant in F.A.I.T.H. evangelism training, a prayer team and WMU. Most importantly she was blessed with seven full years as a Youth leader and led young people to Jesus, rededication, and on mission (Charleston, Ontario, Phoenix, Norfolk, Greenville SC). In Victoria s spare time, Victoria enjoys learning, herding cats, wearing hats, and food and beverage. Madeleine professed her faith and was baptized in 2012. She is a 9th grader at Cedar Ridge. Madeleine loves a good story, singing to herself, and playing field hockey and Men s lax. Both are glad to have church home at FBC Hillsborough.

Youth Ministry Save the Date! On July 10-15, 2016, the youth will be going to Passport Choices Summer Camp in Greensboro, NC. Be on the look out for a sign up sheet. We strongly encourage you to mark your calendars and send your youth to attend this week at Passport Choices. They will have a blast! More details to come regarding cost, theme, and schedule. Upcoming Youth Events Friday, November 13th Late Night Bowling at Buffaloe Lanes in Mebane. 10:30pm to 1am. Sunday, November 29th Annual Turkey Bowl Flag Football Game Saturday, December 19 Christmas Party, 5-9pm, location TBD. Missions-Thanksgiving and Advent/Christmas (Continued from page 2) Christmas Angel Tree FBC decorates a Christmas tree that is placed in the hall behind the sanctuary. On the tree will be a Christmas tags with a high school students names that will not receive a Christmas gift without our help. Each student will have two tags. One tag will be for a gift that has a $35.00 -- $40.00 range, and the second tag will be for an item of clothing (sweat suit, shoes, shirt, underwear these are requested by the student or parent) This project ends December 13, 2015 Christmas Food Boxes for Orange High School Students This project is a continuation of the Thanksgiving project. All of the children are on free lunch, which means that there is little food in the home. The Christmas holiday presents a problem because: one the school is out for two weeks with no help in providing food and two: it is the end of the month and the food stamps are usually gone by this time in the month. Therefore, we help the school and community provide help for this situation in collecting food for this period of time that they are out of school. This project ends December 13, 2015

LIFT:gather More Tellers Needed Among the many opportunities available to serve at FBCH, the need has recently surfaced for additional tellers. Tellers serve in pairs once every six to eight weeks for about an hour at the conclusion of the second service to count and record the weekly tithes and offerings of the church. No experience is necessary; however the teller team is one of our Foundational Committees which requires church membership for service. If you would like to know more, please contact Sue Bulfin: 919-644-7372, wjbsrb@nc.rr.com Not sure? Sue can arrange for you to sit with teller any Sunday to better understand this important ministry of our church. Please Note: If you would like additional information about the many other ministry teams and opportunities available for service, just drop a note in the offering plate during worship or reach out to the church office. The Ministry Placement Committee wants to help everyone find a place to serve. Serving on one of the many ministry teams at FBCH is more than volunteering time it is responding to God s call to each of us to share in the ministry of His church.

2016 Budget News At the October 2015 Church Conference, the Finance Committee presented a first draft of the Proposed 2016 Budget. The next steps include the following: > Present the proposed budget again at the November 2015 Church Conference with all available updated information added. > Provide two listening sessions on Sundays 11/22 and 11/29, 2:00-3:00 pm in Room 101. These sessions will allow for all who have questions and comments to present them to Finance Committee. > Vote on the Proposed 2016 Budget on Sunday 12/13 at the end of each worship service. Deacons Ready to Serve in 2016 The four newly elected deacons that will begin their four-year term in 2016 are Geralene Champion, Robert Compton, Ricky Walker, and Chris Yerby. Thank you to all on the ballot and your willingness to serve. Pray for these four as they begin a new season of ministry. Trunk or Treat 2015 Thanks to all that served and came!
