Amos Part 18 A Man s Uncle Shall Bear Him Key Verses: Amos 6:8 6:14 Here are the concluding verses to chapter 6 on the theme which has had the theme of the people of God taking it easy and not doing the work of the Lord while we are abiding in Zion which is the Body of Christ. Because of this we are told of the consequences. Amo 6:8 The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore, will I deliver up the city with all that is therein. Amo 6:9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die. Amo 6:10 And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD. Amo 6:11 For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts. Amo 6:12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock: Amo 6:13 Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength? Amo 6:14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness. The Lord abhors a puffed up haughty spirit that robs God and steals His glory. This of course is a spirit of SELF that is living as the hidden pride of man who seeks to builds a name for himself. This is all of us who have been at ease in Zion, feasting in His Temple and not doing the work of God. Judgment is needed to turn our early feasting into the more diligent eating habits required to grow up and become a mature man of God eating strong meat (Heb 5:13) and bearing our trials as we stand in faith. We learn to eat right by judgment (woe). Ecc 10:16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Ecc 10:17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness! The defining difference between the immature and the mature is that the besetting sins we bring with us have not yet manifested to humble proud hearts and turn us back to the Lord. The worst of our besetting sins and self-righteousness is manifest to bring us back to the Lord. Eze 7:24 Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled. The Lord finding ten men in one house and stating they shall die represents the completion of our flesh and its death that has been ordained. Flesh and blood was not intended to inherit the kingdom of God (1Co 15:50) and must die for new life to come forth (Joh 12:24). This life we 1

are losing (in Aorist continuous tense) as we die daily and are finding a new life in Christ (Mat 10:39) little by little. Losing this life and gaining a new only comes in a down payment form as the Lord s elect are judged and await the fullness of the promise that comes in the resurrection. Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Thanks be to God that our futile efforts to save and justify ourselves is falling miserably short. We will not overcome on our own strength and the Lord is exposing our total inpetitude and showing us our sins as the fire of judgment is poured in full fury. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. This completion of our flesh and the failure of it to be perfected happens in the house of the Lord where judgment is now abiding (1Pe 4:17). We need help and a spiritual physician will appear to us via our (uncles) and bring the fire that kills the flesh. It is the beloved or said another way, our spiritual family and uncles that bring salvation to us and speak the words of fire that burn up our carnally minded dead bodies. Mat 12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! Mat 12:5o For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. An uncle is the brother of our father and spiritually speaking this is referring to the brethren as we all our brothers of Jesus Christ. H1730 - Total KJV Occurrences: 57 beloved, 31 uncle, 10 love, 7 beloved s, 2 father s, 2 brother, 1 2

brothers, 1 loves, 1 uncle s, 1 wellbeloved, 1 The body of Christ are the brothers that are raising up spiritual seed for the Lord (our brother) as we fill up in the afflictions of Christ for the church s sake (Col 1:24). We redeem our brothers and sisters from spiritual prisons and bondage as the beloved. Lev 25:47 And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger s family: Lev 25:48 After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him: Lev 25:49 Either his uncle, or his uncle s son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself. Our redemption is via the process of judgment that comes from the Word and revealing of Jesus Christ. That is delivered by the same beloved and our brethren who are our spiritual uncles. Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. The word for burneth in Amo 6:10 is only found 1 time in the bible and has no root. According to Strong s it means to cremate by being near kin. H5635, sa raph, saw-raf' A primitive root; to cremate, that is, to be (near) of kin (such being privileged to kindle the pyre): - burn. Spiritually speaking that is how our flesh is purged, by the fire of the spoken word. Jer 5:14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. 1Co 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. The cremating process of burning bodies is leaving nothing alive of the flesh hence there is nobody left within us and only the new man is left to enter into the Christ keeping mind and it is only an earnest deposit in this age and the Scriptures speak of things that are not as if they were (Rom 4:17). It is those in Zion, who minister and receive ministry that trades our burnt bodies and ashes for the covering of Christ by judgment that turns us into trees of righteousness. 3

Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. The heathens within and without, will suffer our spiritually dead bodies to lie in the streets of spiritual Sodom/Babylon (Rev 11:9). Faithful watchman of the flock does not allow their brethren, the new man, to remain behind in this dying process. The bones of Jesus Christ, His true doctrines that cannot be broken, the Word that saves us are brought forth as we exit the old way of life. Gen 50:25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. Jud 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. We are the voice of Jesus Christ who speak the Words that call the appointed up into the clouds in heaven which speaks of our entry into Christ and His revealing within us. Rev 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. As our understanding is opened in heaven, we see Christ in the Spirit and know He has come in the flesh of His chosen few that are our uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters and collectively the beloved. Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Oba 1:21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S. There are no other survivors when the Lord reveals the wages of sin that is spiritual death. Only the remnant is being saved and brought through the fire of judgment. The mouths of the heathen nations within us will be stopped and quieted as the Lord is bringing judgment as Christ is exalted. Zec 2:13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. Amo 8:3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence. Our wedding garment is not proper and is defiled and will be called out when the Words of Christ shine on our self-righteousness. Mat 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Hab 2:20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. 4

Amo 6:11 For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts. The body of Christ, the House of God, are the Lord s two witnesses. As His Temple and the people in which the Lord dwells (Eze 37:27, 2Co 6:16), both the house of Israel and the house of Judah are both within us. Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Here in Amos, the Lord is in process of performing the good thing that has been promised unto both the house of Israel and the house of Judah. Executing judgment is performing His word. Jer 33:14 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. The body of Christ, as The Christ, is given the double portion that was given to Joseph, a type of Christ and the elect who would come at Pentecost (Deut 33:13-17). These two houses signify the double witness and the double blessing we receive from the Lord of heaven (Judah) and the earth (Israel). Said another way, Judah is our doctrine and having the mind of Christ and Israel is our overcoming and actually walking out the truth. Two resurrections are necessary for the good work to be completed and for us to walk congruent and be ONE with the Lord. Jer 3:1 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north (with judgment) to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. Rev 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. Isa 61:7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs. The two sticks, that represent the divided kingdom within us are being made one. We are being made whole (healed) and are being delivered of our sins and idols by keeping the judgments we are studying in these Prophets. Eze 37:15 (NKJV) Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Eze 37:16 "As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: 'For Judah and for the children of Israel, his companions.' Then take another stick and write on it, 'For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, his companions.' Eze 37:17 Then join them one to another for yourself into one stick, and they will become one in your hand. Eze 37:18 "And when the children of your people speak to you, saying, 'Will you not show us what you mean by these?' Eze 37:19 say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will join 5

them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand." ' Eze 37:20 And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes. Eze 37:21 "Then say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; Eze 37:22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. Eze 37:23 They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. Eze 37:24 "David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. So both houses that make of God s One House are being transformed and molded together as one as they are being smitten with breaches and clefts. Jer 11:17 For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal. Isa 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer. Amo 9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: As the house of God we are bearing both the image of the earthy and the heavenly (1Co 15:49) and being both a vessel or honor and dishonor as we learn good and evil waiting for the fullness of the purchase of redemption (Rom 8:23, 2Co 5:2). 2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. The great house of flesh (ten tribes) will be stricken with breaches which are holes in our walls of defense. Breaches are gaps and large cracks in spiritual defenses that let the enemy and leaven come pouring into our walk. Interesting that a breach is also defined in modern language as the act of breaking a law or covenant, which is exactly what they spiritually represent. They represent our besetting sins, the manifestation of evil in the house that is used for good in the end. Isa 63:17 O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. Psa 34:19 Many are the afflictions (Evils ra ) of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. 6

2Sa 12:11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. So whether they are giants in our land or the small besetting sins that defile us, the Lord makes them manifests (causes the evil for good Isa 45:7, Rom 8:28). The beloved are called to lay these sins aside as they spoil the fruit of our labors. Son 2:15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes. Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Clefts speak of smaller holes and cracks, also known as fissures that break the consistency of the item having a cleft. Spiritually speaking, clefts are holes in our doctrine, holdovers from the 200M lies of the harlot. They are a little leaven, a little unbelief, which is still impeding our walk and obedience. The house of Judah, is the House of David and represents, the Word and the call for purity in cleansing the heavens. 1Co 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Our day of judgment is required to burn away with fire the unclean and all things that defile. 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Being stricken with spiritual breaches and clefts is all foolishness to the natural minded man (1Co 2:14), but to those being saved, this is how we learn righteousness (Isa 26:9) and the Lord makes known to us His power. He really is Lord of the heavens and the earth! Rom 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? Rom 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: Rom 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Amo 6:12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock: Amo 6:13 Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength? The power of the flesh has no place in the house of the Lord which is THE ROCK that provides the living waters of judgment. Horns represent power in the Scriptures and when we are puffed up with knowledge being drunk with wine and fat with rich meat we rejoice in our blindness totally unaware of the day of our visitation until it comes. 7

Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: The answer here to the Lord s question through Amos is an absolute no. No flesh is justified by the works of the law. Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Psa 33:16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength Psa 33:17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Hemlock as presented in Amo 6:13 is actually the word for wormwood which represents the lies and false doctrines we cling to in justifying ourselves as this Assyrian harlot (Eze 23:5-7) and wresting away the wonderful and necessary judgment of our man of sin. The Lord is the one sending delusion and feeding His prophets with wormwood in order to have the occasion to come again and to usher in salvation (Heb 9:28). Jer 23:15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land. The outcome of judgment will be the new mindset and the rest that remains elusive to the people of God who are still trusting in themselves for salvation. We will get to the point of having no confidence in our flesh or anyone else s. Hag 2:22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, everyone by the sword of his brother The reason the Lord bring deliverance, little by little is so we won t remain puffed up and proudly thinking we had anything to do with anything, HE IS THE LORD. Deu 8:17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. There is no boasting in Christ. We know these verses in heaven but have to be taught some lessons in righteousness to get them into our earth (walk). Rom 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 8

Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. The power is all the Lord s and to whom HE GIVES IT. Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. The Assyrian/Babylonian nation has been turned loose to bring evil into our house and our land and set the stage for the revealing of the plumb line of judgment in Chapter 7. Amo 6:14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness. This heathen nation and its king are the sword of the Lord (Psa 17:13) that is abiding on our house and manifesting the worst of our flesh and our besetting sins to turn us back to the Lord in all humility. Jer 27:6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. Our second resurrection in down payment form is preceded by the power of our flesh being given over to our beast. Rev 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. Rev 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. The manifestation of our sins makes us small and is what humbles us and prepares us to be resurrected with Christ. Next week Lord willing, we will see the land and kings of the land, rebel against the words of fire that Amos is speaking. Flesh will do everything it can to stay alive and ours is no different as the judgment of God increases upon us. We can only abide in this fire and the scourging grace if we have been given the measure of faith to endure. Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; Heb 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. 9
