Glory, Glory, Hallelujah! (458)
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never sound retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat; Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! Be jubilant, my feet; Our God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free; While God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! While God is marching on. Amen
I ll Fly Away (422)
Some glad morning, when this life is o er, I ll fly away; To a home on God s celestial shore, I ll fly away. I ll fly away, O glory, I ll fly away; When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I ll fly away!
When the shadows of this life have grown, I ll fly away; Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I ll fly away. I ll fly away, O glory, I ll fly away; When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I ll fly away!
Just a few more weary days and then, I ll fly away; To a land where joys shall never end, I ll fly away. I ll fly away, O glory, I ll fly away; When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I ll fly away!
I Will Call upon the Lord (103)
I will call upon the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised. So shall I be saved from my enemies. The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted! The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted!
O magnify the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. So shall I be saved from my enemies. The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted! The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted!
Let us praise the Lord of Lords, Praise him now and evermore. Praise the Father, Son and the Spirit. The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted! The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted!
I will call upon the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised. So shall I be saved from my enemies. The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted! The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted! I will call upon the Lord
What a Fellowship (385)
What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms; What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.
O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the everlasting arms; O how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.
What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessèd peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

A study of the Book of Acts The that changed the world! Acts 6-7: The Defining Moment
Acts 6:8-15
Acts 7:1 Stephen s Speech to the Sanhedrin Then the high priest asked Stephen, Are these charges true? Stephen s answer: the longest record of any event in the Book of Acts
Acts 7:2-53
Content of Stephen's response to the persecution by the Sanhedrin: 1. The presence of God was never confined to Jerusalem nor the temple. 2. The Jews had a long history of rejecting their leaders, which now had culminated in their rejection of the Messiah himself. a. He does a summary of the entire history of Judaism b. Theme: the Jewish leaders never obeyed God! c. What you have done your whole history you are now doing again! 3. In spite of all of the detours caused by man s sin, God was painstakingly moving history toward a promised goal of Jesus being preached in all nations.
Acts 7:51-53 51 You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! 52 Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him 53 you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it.

Stiff-necked: Stubborn, headstrong, obstinate, stubbornly refusing to change one's opinion or chosen course of action, despite attempts to persuade one to do so.

Uncircumcised in heart and ears: They prided themselves on their circumcision, they trusted in it as a sure ground of favor in the sight of God; but all the while they were on a level with the heathen whom they despised, and were to be reckoned among the uncircumcised whom they loathed. For they were without the true circumcision, that of the heart. (from the Pulpit Commentary)
2 Timothy 4:1-5 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
Are you ready and willing to stand up and defend your faith even if it means death?
Acts 7:54-60
Stephen was following in the footsteps Jesus! Stephen: Vs 60) Then he fell on his knees and cried out, Lord, do not hold this sin against them. When he had said this, he fell asleep. Jesus: Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
A conservative estimate places the total number of martyrs who died for Christ up to the liberation edict (Edict of Milan - agreement to treat Christians benevolently within the Roman Empire) of Constantine in 313 A.D. at around 100,000 martyrs.
Some estimate that 70 million people have been martyred for their faith in Jesus since He walked the earth!
How should we view Persecution?
John 15:18-23 The World Hates the Disciples 18 If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well.
Matthew 10:24-25 24 The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!
1 Peter 4:12-13 Suffering for Being a Christian 12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
Practicals: Preach the same message that Jesus and the apostles preached. Be willing to die for your faith in Jesus. If Jesus is Lord then do not worry about how people will treat us or what their response will be. Your boldness for standing up for truth can change this generation!
