OUR LADY S MESSAGE To the World Given 25th February 2016 to Marija Pavlovic D ear children! In this time of grace, I am calling all of you to conversion. Little children, you love little and pray even less. You are lost and do not know what your goal is. Take the cross, look at Jesus and follow Him. He gives Himself to you to the death on the cross, because He loves you. Little children, I am calling you: return to prayer with the heart so as to find hope and the meaning of your existence, in prayer. I am with you and am praying for you. Thank you for having responded to my call. Fr. Martin Morris s Reflection Spiritual Director of Medjugorje Centre NE Dear Brothers and Sisters of Medjugorje North East and beyond, For thirty-four years now we have been Blessed with Our Lady s coming in Medjugorje, and we have received so many graces in the School of Our Lady. Her school is a school of Prayer and Adoration, reflecting the Cenacle in Jerusalem with Mary at the centre, around her the Apostles. In Medjugorje Our Lady is first a Teacher, a teacher of prayer who encourages us to decide for Holiness each day. How many times have we heard her phrase This time is for you, and this months message begins by reminding us that to be in these times, to have Mary with us, to enter into her school is a gift. In this time of Grace Our Lady begins. Everything is sheer unmerited gift, because Mary loves us, sent from the Lord with the Gospel message of Conversion and Repentance. Grace is at work, Heavens powers are at work, the Faithful are being mobilised, the chain of Prayer is growing. Yes, this is a time of Grace and we should not become fainthearted. Let us say, Thank you Jesus, Thank you Lord for this time of Grace with your Mother. Let us also ask ourselves have we become accustomed to her words that we no longer react, and we say,

Another message, there ll be another one next month, so I ll respond later. Let us recognise that now is the moment of Conversion, now is the time of Grace. I am calling all of you to Conversion. Our Lord s first words in the Gospels are, Repent, The Kingdom is close at hand. (Mark: 1:14-15) Personal Conversion is the fundamental message of the Gospel, and this is what Mary repeats so many times. It means a departure from the world, from oneself, and a turning towards Jesus Christ the Light. It means a turning away from hatred and prejudice, towards love, a departure from greed and selfishness, and a turning towards mercy and generosity. During this Holy season of Lent let us confront the negative forces of sin within us and turn towards the love of Christ more wholeheartedly, and let us prepare for a worthy celebration of the Sacrament of Penance. Little children you love little and Pray even less. Each of us can only reflect on these words in the silence of our hearts, and there we will find the answer. Our capacity for love and prayer is great, and both love and prayer begin in the human heart. This is where we make the decision to pray and to love. The fruit of prayer is love and peace, change begins in Prayer, Prayer Resurrects Love. God is the fount of all life, and when we place ourselves within the field or radius of God s life then we become more loving because we are in contact with God. As Christians the goal is sacrificial loving, as described by St. Paul in his Letter to the Corinthians. (1Cor: 31-13:8) Love is always patient and kind, it is never jealous, boastful, or conceited. It does not take offence, but always delights in the Truth. It is always ready to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes, love does not come to an end. Let us open our hearts to this way of loving as the Saints do. You are lost and do not know what your goal is. Mary continues on from last month s message, when she told us, Jesus is your Way, Truth and Life. He is the way when we are lost, the Good Shepherd who calls out to us, the Prodigal Father who embraces us, the Good Samaritan who tends our wounds and carries us to safety. All that we do serves the same purposeeternal life. Let us implore the Holy Spirit to give us a deep desire for Heaven, and the things that are eternal. If the world is lost it is because we have allowed ourselves to be misled by material things. Jesus will place in our hearts a taste of Heavenly realities if we ask for this Grace. When we know that we live eternally, when we really know in the heart that death does not have the last word, that love is stronger than hatred, then each day has its goal. Let us begin each day by asking ourselves the question, What sort of a person do I wish to be today? A person who is following the way to my goal, or one who is lost in worldly things? Mary is calling us to prepare for Easter, but also for eternal Life-the eternal Easter. This is what every soul longs for. Take the Cross, look at Jesus and follow him. Our lives begin with the sign of the Cross at Baptism, we are sealed in our dying moments with the Cross in the Sacrament of the Sick.

On Ash Wednesday we are marked with the Cross. For the Christian the Cross has to become real, because it points us towards glory. Mary wants us to take the Cross, and to hold it. To receive the power of the Cross and not to be afraid. In his letter, Mother of the Redeemer Saint John Paul II, sees Mary kneeling at the foot of the Cross on Calvary, and he wonders if it went through her mind that she was duped, misled, when she had been told wondrous things by the angel at the Annunciation. No, because her heart was always saying Yes to God. (RM) So too for us, the Cross gives union and offering with our sufferings, from the Cross comes Grace to strengthen us, and help us in our Yes to God. Let us decide for Prayer, especially Prayer before the Cross. Praying with the heart means to Pray with Love and feeling. Heart speaks unto Heart, as Blessed John Henry Newman would say. God Bless, Fr. Martin Take the Cross, look at Jesus and follow him Our Lady s message to Mirjana 2nd February 2016 Dear children! I have called you and am calling you anew to come to know my Son, to come to know the truth. I am with you and am praying for you to succeed. My children, you must pray much in order to have all the more love and patience; to know how to endure sacrifice and to be poor in spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, my Son is always with you. His Church is born in every heart that comes to know Him. Pray that you can come to know my Son; pray that your soul may be one with Him. That is the prayer and the love which draws others and makes you my apostles. I am looking at you with love, with a motherly love. I know you; I know your pain and sorrows, because I also suffered in silence. My faith gave me love and hope. I repeat, the Resurrection of my Son and my Assumption into Heaven is hope and love for you. Therefore, my children, pray to come to know the truth; to have firm faith which will lead your heart and which will transform your pain and sufferings into love and hope. Thank you.

REPORT FROM SISTER EMMANUEL of The Community of The Beatitudes www.childrenofmedjugorje.com Medjugorje, February 17, 2016 Dear Children of Medjugorje, Praised be Jesus and Mary! 1. On February 2nd, Mirjana received her monthly apparition in her pansion near her home, surrounded with a small crowd of pilgrims. After the apparition, she shared her message with us: 2. The extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy! This initiative from Pope Francis really helps us to grasp the exceptional opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence! It is all about encountering God as a tender and merciful Father, who always forgives those who repent, and waits for us to return to Him! The plenary indulgence asked for oneself is a unique opportunity to recover the innocence of our Baptism. If we obtain it on behalf of a deceased soul, it means he or she can be released from Purgatory. So many souls could be freed from Purgatory in this Jubilee year! EXTRAORDINARY JUBILEE of MERCY DEC 8, 2015 NOV 20, 2016 IT WILL BE A HOLY YEAR OF MERCY POPE FRANCIS The plenary indulgence grants complete remission of all sins already confessed. It is not necessary to go to Rome, we need only to go through a "Holy Door" in one of the Jubilar Churches of within each diocese. Here are the normal conditions which need to be fulfilled to receive the plenary indulgence: - A recent confession with a firm decision to detach oneself from all sins, including venial sins. - Go through "the Holy Door" in a Jubilar Church of the diocese - Attend Holy Mass - Receive Holy Communion followed by a deep interior reflection on Mercy - Recite the Creed - Recite the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be for the intentions of the Pope - Do an act of charity: either material or spiritual. The Pope has compiled a list of what these acts of charity can be. This indulgence can be granted once a day until November 20, 2016. People who can't go out may receive it if they meet all the conditions mentioned above and attend Holy Mass on TV. For those in jail, all the prison doors become Holy Doors.

3. What Saved Luca's Life? A good way to start Lent is to hear how a formerly desperate man reveals his secret about fasting... "Having by pure chance listened to a CD on fasting, out of curiosity, my life changed in a single day, on a certain Wednesday. For many years, I was a slave to thoughts of suicide, haunted by the constant desire to end my life. I had parents who had separated, emotional insecurities, difficulties at work and financial problems... and on top of that, major spiritual deviance. I touched on many New Age disciplines, but thanks be to God, I never practiced them in any depth: tetha healing, rebirthing, channeling, sokka gakkai, reiki and many other practices, all based on the principles of spiritualism, occultism and magic. I had opened the door of my life to darkness, which kept inspiring me with the thought that I was not made to live, and that everything I did was doomed to fail. In my childhood, I had heard about Medjugorje and I knew that the Holy Virgin asked people to pray the Rosary and to fast in order to have peace of heart. Peace of heart? Was this possible for me too? "I searched the Internet to find out more, and I came across a website called Vocepiu (Italy) that offered a CD entitled "Healing and deliverance through fasting", by a nun. I immediately bought it. That was on a Tuesday. I listened to this CD with great interest, in a single session. Why not try fasting on bread and water for 24 hours? So I did it, sort of as a challenge and also to try to experience a day that would be different, because I had been plunged into an abyss of grief and anguish. The next day, a Wednesday (the Holy Virgin asks that we fast on Wednesdays and Fridays on bread and water), I bought a beautiful loaf of bread, and I decided to eat only that, and drink only water. "That day, something powerful came in me, and from morning to evening I felt I was coming alive, with a light and free heart! My obsession with suicide had disappeared and the morbid thoughts directed against life even seemed ridiculous and stupid. I had not prayed, I had only warned the Holy Virgin that if this did not work, I would find a way to kill myself. Shortly before the end of the day, I walked out of my home... the sky was incredibly beautiful, I had never seen it like that before. My life had completely changed in one day! It had been enough to just obey Our Lady! "Fasting has enormous spiritual power. Like a torch thrown into my inner darkness, it made me see all the traps that Satan had placed in my mind and in my heart. But God, through his Mother, had destroyed all these manipulations of the devil and they were replaced by the principles of a renewed life. I then realized that, for years, it was no longer I who was thinking, it was actually the evil one

who inspired me with all these deadly thoughts, against life, against love, against joy and especially against Jesus our Lord and Savior! "Fasting and praying the Rosary are the weapons of the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, first within us and then around us! In a single day, I was given back the joy of being a "Dear child" (this is how our Lady calls us). From being a failed suicide, I am now a forgiven child, having no merit, and am happily consecrated. If only we abandoned ourselves in obedience to our Mother, the only 'weight' that we would feel in life would be the ever so gentle weight of her maternal mantle! Hail, Mary, the ever Pure!" (Fratello Redento) It is true, he who prays is not afraid of the future, he who fasts is not afraid of evil (Gospa). Dearest Gospa, blessed are you to remind us of the essential goal of our lives on earth: that our souls be one with your Son Jesus! During this Lent, in prayer, please help us work on this divine union of souls! Sister Emmanuel + MEDJUGORJE Peace rosary 777 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Mary s & 7 Glory Be s The seven Our Fathers, Hail Mary s and Glory Be s are a traditional prayer from the history of this region of the Croatian people. When Our Lady first appeared, it was suggested to the children from family members to pray, what is known as the 7-7-7. Our Lady then confirmed this as Her wish and to add the Creed to the beginning it was the first prayers Our Lady requested of not only the visionaries, but the parish itself, to pray every day. Once these prayers were firmly established in their daily prayer life, Our Lady began to request the Rosary everyday as well; first one mystery, then two, three and eventually Our Lady asked for all four mysteries. The seven Our Fathers, Hail Mary s and Glory Be s were incorporated into the evening services as well, as they are prayed immediately following the Croatian Mass. These prayers are a reminder of the first requests Our Lady made in the first days of the apparitions. They are also always prayed for the intention of peace. For this reason, the 7-7-7 prayers have also become known as the Peace Rosary. Also known as The Peace chaplet is prayed as follows: Start with Sign of the Cross followed by the Creed. Then pray an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be 7 times. It is a wonderful prayer to teach young children as it is shorter than the rosary. Continue to recite The Lord s Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be seven times, but also add the Creed. Goodbye, my angels. Go in the peace of God. June 27, 1981

FOREGIVENESS Tuesday, February 16, 2016 (www.crownofstarsblog) Jesus said to his disciples: Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father will forgive you yours, but if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failings either. (Matthew 6:14-15 ) In the very early days of the apparitions at Medjugorje, a remarkable event happened in St James church where the people of the parish had gathered to pray. Earlier in the day, Our Lady had instructed the visionaries not to just recite the rosary but to think about it in their hearts, and to first of all forgive their neighbours. This message was brought to Fr Jozo who in turn conveyed Our Lady s words to the congregation. At that time, many families in the Medjugorje parish were in dispute and on bad terms with each other, and some of the disagreements stretched back to previous generations for all sorts of reasons. After Fr Jozo had repeated Our Lady s words he remained in silence and so did the congregation for quite some time. He refused to continue with the prayer programme and there was tension in the air as time went on and the silence continued. Then suddenly, a man stood up in tears and shouted, I forgive my neighbour As he said this he walked down the aisle and embraced the person. This grace of mercy then suddenly spread quickly throughout the gathering as others held out their hands and embraced with forgiveness in their hearts. Fr Jozo later stated: This was the moment of conversion for the entire parish. In a single day the entire parish had suddenly and completely returned to God. According to one eyewitness, during the day that followed, neighbours who were on bad terms and had not spoken for years, approached each other in the fields, shook hands, made peace and all five hamlets in the parish were united as never before. Medjugorje is a fountain of God s Divine Mercy, witnessed each day through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through God s Love we receive God s Mercy and God s Peace. Dear children, I have chosen this parish in a special way and I wish to lead it. I am guarding it with love and I want everyone to be mine... part message, March 1, 1984 Thank you for having responded to my call. Dear children, you in the parish, be converted. This is my other wish. That way, all those who shall come here shall be able to convert. March 8, 1984

The Divine Will - Luisa Piccarreta Corato, Italy ( Servant of God) 1865-1947 Luisa Piccarreta was a mystic with a startling message for our times. Her only nourishment during most of her long life was the Holy Eucharist, confined to her bed for almost 60 years she willingly suffered the pains of the stigmata of both the flesh and the soul. She kept a Diary of her spiritual experiences that grew to thirtysix volumes. The essence of her revelations concerns the fulfilment of this petition of the Lord's Prayer: "Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Her revelations and visions teach the way of personal sanctity and of life in the Divine Will, to prepare for a coming Era of Peace. In addition, she was a victim soul, who suffered for the salvation of others, for the reparation of sins, for souls in purgatory, and to mitigate God s chastisements of the world. Luisa had barely a first grade education, yet theologians are astounded by the sublimity of these writings, which Jesus calls the Manifestation of the Kingdom of the Divine Will. When she was nine years old, Luisa received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time and Holy Confirmation, She was convinced that all priests were holy, but one day the Lord told her: Not because they are all holy indeed, if they only were! but simply because they are the continuation of my priesthood in the world you must always submit to their priestly authority; never oppose them, whether they are good or bad (cf. Volume I) from that moment she learned to remain for hours praying before the Blessed Sacrament. When she was eleven she wanted to enroll in the Association of the Daughters of Mary flourishing at the time in the Church of San Giuseppe. At the age of eighteen, Luisa became a Dominican Tertiary taking the name of Sr. Maddalena. She was one of the first to enroll in the Third Order, which her parish priest promoted. Luisa s devotion to the Mother of God was to develop into a profound Marian spirituality, a prelude to what she would one day write about Our Lady. Jesus voice led Luisa to detachment from herself and from everyone. At about eighteen, from the balcony of her house in Via Nazario Sauro, she had a vision of Jesus suffering under the weight of the Cross, who raised his eyes to her saying: O soul, help me!. From that moment an insatiable longing to suffer for Jesus and for the salvation of souls was enkindled in Luisa. So began those physical sufferings which, in addition to her spiritual and moral sufferings, reached the point of heroism. She was convinced that all priests

were holy, but one day the Lord told her: Not because they are all holy indeed, if they only were! but simply because they are the continuation of my priesthood in the world you must always submit to their priestly authority; never oppose them, whether they are good or bad (cf. Volume I) More than forty priests, the chapter and the local clergy took part in her funeral procession; the sisters took turns to carry her on their shoulders, and an immense crowd of citizens surrounded her: the streets were incredibly full; even the balconies and rooftops of the houses were swarming with people, so that the procession wound slowly onwards with great difficulty. All the people of Corato followed the body. Her extraordinary Confessor was St. Annibale Di Francia, who bestowed the Nihil Obstat on the first nineteen volumes of her Diary, before his death. When St. Annibale read some of her revelations to Pope St. Pius X, the Pope interrupted him, saying he should be reading these words to him while on his knees, since it is Jesus who is speaking. Her contemporary, St. Padre Pio, is reported to have said that the world will be astonished at her greatness. The Church has initiated her Cause for beatification and canonization, permitting her to be titled Servant of God David Ritson The Passion No Greater Love Luisa Piccarreta Singer/guitarist David Ritson performs his moving meditation on the Passion of Christ. Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow OBE from Scotland is the founder of the humanitarian organisation Mary's Meals. 11 MAGNUS MACFARLANE-BARROW: It is very inspiring to come to Medjugorje and to see so many young people praying for hours on their knees before Jesus 25.01.2016. (Medjugorje.hr) It was in 1983, that he discovered Medjugorje and that was what changed his life as well as the lives of his parents. During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Magnus began to bring the humanitarian aid which eventually grew to the establishment of the humanitarian organisation Mary's Meals. This organisation reached in 2015, the number of 1.035 637 children who have every day meal in their school in the poorest countries of the world. Magnus received several international acknowledgements for his work. He said that this apostolate of Mary s Meals was not initiated with the purpose of becoming famous: I am not interested in the success in the eyes of the world. I believe we should all try to become successful in the terms of our own holiness. That has nothing to do with becoming world famous or with performing some obvious, dramatically good deeds. It is all about faithfulness, with our vicinity with God and our decision for Him to be at the first place in our lives, said Magnus who gave a testimony at the Youth Festival last year here in Medjugorje: I really like coming for the Youth Festival each year. There are many beautiful things every year, but also some new ones. The Youth Festival thrills me each time even though I know many people who converted here and whose lives we changed here in Medjugorje. There are so many fruits coming from this place. We all need messages of Medjugorje even though those aren't anything new, those messages are from the Gospel. Our Lady is inviting us to return to that message of Gospel. We need that call, it is return to Her Son, therefore I find it so inspiring to come here and to see so many young people praying on their knees before Jesus, as that is what the world needs now so much. 12 Medjugorje Centre NE RIP Beatrice Wrightson Sunderland April 2015 The Medjugojre North East Newsletter is posted and emailed throughout the world. We would like to share with our readers a recent email from one of our precious Mercy Sisters. We ask you to continue to prayer for our Religious Missionaries and the families they support. Sister Elizabeth Sister of Mercy Phillippines, Greetings and many thanks for sending the latest Newsletter, I read it with great interest and found it most inspiring, Father Martin's reflection was just lovely. I am going to print it to share with some of the people I minister to here in Cebu, Philippines. One of our ministries is to support squatter families who live in Lu do Cemetery, they are the poorest of the poor and have little hope. One of our activities for them is to have three prayer groups run by our young Sisters each Monday afternoon. I know they will be very interest when we share your newsletter with them. Let us be united in prayer. God bless Sister Elizabeth Medjugorje North East have recently been informed and sadly announce the death of friend and follower of Medjugorje - Beatrice Wrightson. Prayers and candles will burn brightly in her memory during the next Pilgrimage to Medjugorje and Holy Mass will be offered. We pray for her family and friends. We pray for all who grieve Loved ones, now in the embrace of Our Blessed Mother Queen of Peace and now live in the Eternal light of Our Lord and Saviour. Eternal Rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her, may she rest in peace. Amen Pope Francis Message for Lent The Season of Lent in this Jubilee Year is a Favourable time to overcome our existential alienation by listening to Gods Word and by practicing the works of Mercy, Let us not waste this season of Lent so favourable a time for Conversion.

Lent -Youth of Međugorje parish gathered in prayer date: 26.02.2016.( www.medjugorje.hr Young people from parish of St. James Medjugorje, every night during the Lent, except Fridays and Sundays, are climbing Apparition Hill at 8.30 p.m. to pray the Rosary. Radoslav Šego, one of the initiators of this prayer gathering, was our guest at radio station Mir Medjugorje and told us that they started this prayer more than 3 years ago: We decided to gather for Rosary on Apparition Hill, to pray for one family whose son had an accident during Lent, and we continued to climb Apparition Hill, until this day. In Lent and Advent we climb the Hill every night, while in the ordinary time we go once a week as a group. We are praying for peace as Gospa is inviting us to do. We also pray for priests, nuns, for Medjugorje. Of course, we also have our personal intentions. I think we as parishioners have obligation to pray for all pilgrims who are coming to Medjugorje. We are trying to answer Gospa s call and to put Her messages into our lives as much as possible. I hope this is one beginning of something better, said Radoslav who invited all who can, to come and join them in the evening hours on Apparition Hill.
