(Psalms 116:1-2 NIV) Saints Corner St. Monica (Aug 27) she was born in North Africa in 332 of Christian parents. Monica influenced both her husband and mother-in-law to convert to Christianity. she then devoted herself to the conversion of her son, Augustine. After 17 years of her persistent prayers, Augustine was converted to Christian faith. All we know about Monica comes from Augustine's Confession. In the tenth chapter of Book IX, he describes a spiritual experience they shared near the end of her life. She is a patron of mothers. August Devotion, The month of August is dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament, and increased adoration of the Eucharist is encouraged. August is also dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and on August 15 th, the church celebrates the Assumption of Mary into heaven. The endurance of darkness is the preparation for great light.
