9th of Av- Tisha B'Av- God's Calamity on Israel! 9f Israel is the only nation in the history of the world that developed from one family, namely Abraham, to become a dominating force in the world and then after losing their wealth, language and land, as well as being scattered throughout the world, was then restored by God's grace, to become the great nation again. Since 1948, the United Nations has recognized Israel as a powerful foe to be reckoned with in the world today. After the great flood of Noah's day, God chose Abraham, a man of faith" to build his plan of salvation, for all mankind. Through Abraham's son Isaac, his seed would eventually bring in Jesus Christ the son of God! The history of the 9th of Av is filled with great sorrow with painful memories each year, and is seen by the nations of the world as a controversial and troubling period of time. This Jewish day of infamy falls on the Roman calendar between July and August each year. The Jewish people are expected by the world, to mourn over their calamity with mental agony and physical sufferings. This they have done for the past 2500 years. God originally chose Abraham about 2000 years before Christ, to be the "light bearer to the nations" and He gave him and his descendants an eternal contract of blessings. God promised him and his heirs that "if they would be obedient to his laws, He would make abundant provisions for their families, with blessings of "health and wealth". God met Moses 500 years later, at the burning Bush as he was coming across the desert, and directed him to tell Pharaoh "to let his people go." Moses a family descendent was to lead the children of Israel out of bondage and slavery from Egypt to the promised land in Canaan. There were ten supernatural signs that God provided by Moses to convince Pharaoh to let them go and these signs were only the beginning of the supernatural protection of Israel,
by the unseen hand of God. 1. Israel gets cold feet! Refuses to go into the promised land! After 430 years of pain and misery in Egypt, God rescued 2 1/2 million Jewish people from Pharaoh's army and then drowned the army in the Red Sea. When the Jews initially were to cross over the Jordan River, near the city of Jericho to go into the land flowing with milk and honey, they got cold feet and wanted to turn back into the desert. The ten men of the 12 spies that were sent to look over the land, became afraid and began grumbling and arguing about the terrible Giants in the city of Jericho, and said we cannot do it". These complaining weary pilgrims discouraged the rest of Israel from going in and possessing the land. However, Joshua and Caleb, who were the only two men that were to survive the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, explained to Moses that God was still with his people and he would help them conquer and subdue the entrenched Giants living in Jericho. Moses told them, "the Lord your God has set the land before you, go in and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has said "Fear not neither be discouraged, notwithstanding they would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord their God and murmured and said, because the Lord hated us". Then Moses told them, "do not be afraid, the Lord your God will go before you, He will fight for you". Deut.1:1-30. However, the chosen children of God mourned all through the night! This same exact night just happened to be the 9th of Av, on August 1st, 1490 BC. Since that night on the 9th of Av until today, there has been many unusual calamities that have befallen the Jewish people on this specific day of each year. However, after several days of confusion between the two groups, in which they were almost ready to stone Moses to death, they returned back into the desert and wandered for an additional 38 years. What a terrible shame they brought on their own families for their lack of faith in the invisible hand of God! 2. Solomon's magnificent temple destroyed on the 9th of Av.
The Babylonian people who lived in Iraq in 601 BC, were ruled by a ruthless dictator that had become the czar of all the nations of Europe. These Babylonians had an intense hatred for the Jewish people, and so they came with their army in 589 BC, and labored for two years breaking down the walls of the city of Jerusalem. Then in 587 BC, after burning and destroying the temple and killing 100,000 Jews on the fateful day of the 9th of Av, they returned back to Babylon. They force marched thousands of Jewish slaves for weeks, including the prophet Daniel, back to the capital of the world. The prophet Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations 2:6-7 "the Lord was an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel He has violently taken away his tabernacle He has abhorred his sanctuary". Since the Jewish daily animal sacrifices were taken away, the people lost their fellowship with their God, and mourned continually. One of the customs, on this sad day is to fast "all day" and refrain from smiling and doing any kind of work. They were restricted from bathing, and being intimate with their spouse and were required to wear plain clothes and leather shoes for the entire day. Why do they go through these restrictions? The Jewish people strongly teach their children to have faith in God and the laws of Moses. They believe that by performing these works of restriction, God will have favor and mercy on them and will go easy on their peoples with his judgments in the future years. 3. Strange calamity! Jerusalem's Second Holy Temple - 9th of Av The Second holy Temple was constructed in 153 BC on the same spot as Solomon's temple in Jerusalem. However, it was more magnificent and lavishly ornate than the first one. Gold, silver and precious stones were embedded in different places on its structure. The Roman armies were very calloused against the Jewish people and the world saw the results of their terror and brutality in the crucifixion of the two thieves and Christ on the cross of Calvary. On the Passover day, on the ninth of Av, June 6, 70 A.D. under the Roman army general Titus, the temple was destroyed. The Roman general pleaded with the people and their leaders to surrender but their pleas to surrender were rejected. The entire city of Jerusalem with over 1 million people living inside its
borders for a whole year, were starved to death. People were eating their own shoe leather. Jesus had prophesied this in Luke 19:41-44, when he said, "for the days. shall, upon you that your enemies shall cast a trench about you and lay you even to the ground And they shall not leave you one stone upon another, because you did not know the day of your visitation". This prophecy was Jesus way of telling them they had rejected him their Messiah. It's amazing that God always keeps his word that he has written in the Scriptures! The fire raged so intensely that the gold that covered some parts of the building ran down into the stones. After the stones of the building cooled down many of the soldiers took crowbars and moved the stones around until they could get little pieces of gold out from under the stones with their hands. 4. Why the Roman army returned the second time on the 9th of Av. The Roman Armies came back again the second time on the 9th of Av in June in 71AD and destroyed any and all of the properties in the city of Jerusalem. The Army made a determined effort by plowing up the earth on the Temple Mount and by spreading salt over all the ground. This was to keep any vegetation from growing thereafter. This act was fulfilling the prophecy that is spoken of in Micah 3:12, in God's word, "therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field". God cannot lie, the Scriptures must be fulfilled! God was not finished with his judgments that he had decreed on the disobedience of the Jewish people. 5. A religious Jew makes a tragic blunder on the 9th of Av! The next prophetic tragedy that occurred on the 9th of Av was in 135 A.D. Some of the most famous rabbis in Israel's history believed that Simon Bar Kochba was the real Messiah and so they rejected Jesus as their Savior. Simon's intense determination and leadership brought a temporary victory with his disciples, and their following over the Roman legions. However, on the night of the 9th of Av in 135 A.D, a tragedy struck. Simon and all of his soldiers and disciples were slaughtered by the sword. The account was estimated to be 580,000 Jewish men were killed from the ensuing battle and famine that followed. 6. 1095 A.D, a day of infamy on the 9th of Av. In the First Crusade that was declared by Pope Urban the 2nd crusade to begin occurred on the 9th of Av in 1095 A.D, and 10,000 Jews were killed in the first month. The Catholic Christians were trying to get
control of Jerusalem's holy mount from the Moslem Arabs, where they had been struggling with them in warfare for about 200 years. The Crusades were bringing death and destruction to thousands of Jews who were living in the many communities of the Rhineland in Germany and in France. 7. A terrible tragedy becomes a strange blessing to American children of God. On the 9th of Av, on July 18, in 1290 A.D. King Edward the First, gave an order for the expulsion of thousands of Jews from the land of England, and the confiscation of their personal books and property. These Jewish families had been permanent residents in this land of England for hundreds of years. 8. "All things work together for good to those that love God" Romans 8:28 The Spanish Government expelled 800,000 Jews from Spain on August 1, the 9th of Av in 1492 AD. even though they had been living in the land for 1500 years. This order was given by Ferdinand and his wife Isabela. These families were forced to move out to another land, and start all over again. However, many families ended up in the new land called America. This particular day was the same providential day that Columbus sailed to the New World, which became known as the land of America. 9. The 1st World War begins! Britain and Russia declare war on Germany. The Leaders of Germany were determined to conquer the peoples of Poland which eventually resulted in the death of 100,000 Jews. This was a match that had been struck, which started World War I. This war was later considered to be the war that would end all wars. There are over 10 million men and women killed when the final tally had been made. This war was a step in a series that would set the stage to fulfill the prophecy about Israel being recognized as a state by the European Community. This happened in March of 1948 and fulfilled the prophecy that Israel was back in her land after being away for 2520 years. These eventful years of Israel's fate was according to God's plan that was spoken prophetically by Jeremiah in Leviticus chapter 26, as well as in Ezekiel chapter 4:4-6. 10. The banks go belly up in 1929. What happened? The stock market crashed on the 9th of Av in 1929 AD. and the living
conditions were so dreadful for the American people that they were seen jumping out of their high-rise windows in their distress. Millions of Americans, as well as peoples from around the whole world had to work for the government, cutting grass with a sickle with the WPA for a dollar a day. The US government gave the poor families, bags of rice, flour, and sugar until World War II was over in 1945. 11. Why did Hitler invaded Poland in 1939 on the 9th of Av? In 1939, on the 9th of Av, "a time of trouble" began, which brought to the whole world, the worst of all wars. This was called, World War II and by the end of the war, the number tallied up was over 50 million souls. Adolf Hitler ordered Hermann Goering, on July 31st on the ninth of Av to begin the "final solution for the Jewish question". "How can we kill all the Jews in the whole world"? This was accomplished in Germany by using poisonous gas and hot ovens. The women and men were made to work under torturous conditions in the mines. The Holocaust was tallied up from 6 to 9 million souls. 12. The 9 of Av in 1994 in Buenos Aries Argentina, on July 18, in the deadly bombing of the AMI, a Jewish community center, 86 people were killed and 300 others were wounded. 13. On Tishab'av or the 9th of Av, 2006 A.D, 8500 Jewish settlers in Israel were relocated under President Sharon's leadership. This included about 25 towns and villages on the 9th of Av, August 4, 2006 A.D. These Stories are only a few of the major tragedies that have occurred on the 9th of Av since 1491 BC, when the Jewish followers of Moses, refused to go into the promised land because they were afraid of the Giants. There are many other tragedies that have occurred on this fateful day to the Jewish people and to many to recall. Although the pain and suffering they have endured for these many years is not over, it has made them become a better, wiser and stronger people after all. In the field of mathematics, the truth or validity of a scientific experiment is determined by the law of probability or the chance that any event might occur. When the probability becomes astronomically high, we accept the probability number, not as a chance, but as the proof for the certainty of the experiment. As an example. If you should drop a dice on a table and desire a 3 to show up, your probability is said to be, one chance in six. 1:6. If you desire to get the number 3 to show up six times in a row
on the same dice, your probability would be the fraction of 1/6 multiplied by itself, six times. This large number is 279,936 to one. Since there are 365 days in one year, the chances of the 9th of Av coming up with a major tragedy to Jewish people in the world on this one day of the year the probability is the fraction of 1/365 or 1:365. Now since there are 13 listed events in this article, it would be necessary to multiply the fraction 1/365, by itself, 13 times. This probability number is extremely high or impossible! The number is 6.8 with 26 zeros after it. This is called the law of improbability which means in science, it cannot happen. It would be a miracle but evolutionary science doesn't believe in miracles! So the chance that tragedy can strike the Jewish people on the same day of the year, for 13 different years is impossible, unless God is doing it! There occurred in 2014-2015, a series of 4 blood moons on four special Jewish feast days and this event is not expected to occur again until after 3080 AD. These blood moons are known by Jewish sages to be foreboding warnings of terrible tragedy about to happen. Since modern-day Jewish sages are writing about the end times, many are concluding that the blood moons recently seen are an indication that the seven years of tribulation is about to start. Since our government has run up an impossible financial loan to other countries that cannot be paid, it's only a short time when they will be coming with an army of men to forcibly collect their debt. In recent months, Islamic terrorism has been escalating around the world in gigantic proportions, and the threat of Islam s' "ISIS" is on our television minds every day. We cannot ignore the clouds of war hanging over our heads any longer. The end times is at hand and the tribulation can no longer be avoided. Pray to be rapture ready!
