Tour Guide: Hanoch Young Tour Leader: Mikell Clayton Tour Facilitator: Dr. DeWayne Coxon October 22 November 3, 2017 TOUR GUIDE: Hanoch Young Hanoch Young is a licensed Israeli Tour Guide, an Orthodox Jew, who is known for building bridges between people through his personal outreach. His understanding of the historical relationship between the Jewish people and all who relate to Israel is part of what he shares in his speaking tours in the United States. This fact makes him a valued guide for all Bible believers who wish to learn more and connect with the Land and people of Israel. TOUR CO-HOST: Mikell Clayton Mikell Clayton is a veteran traveler to Israel and has made the journey 26 times since 1998. He is the President of Joined to HaShem, a Seminole, Oklahoma, based ministry. He teaches and explains the Biblical Christian faith as it developed from its Hebraic roots. His teachings are available on his website: www.joinedtohashem.org and he sponsors a weekly video Living Torah. TOUR FACILITATOR: Dr. DeWayne Coxon Dr. DeWayne Coxon will facilitate the logistics of the tour. He has planned and guided tours in Israel since the early 1980s and has travelled to Israel over 150 times since 1965. Dr. Coxon is the President of Blossoming Rose, a USA-based, non-profit organization and curator of an archaeology dig at Biblical Tamar Park in Israel. He is also responsible for the management and development of the Park. EXPERIENCE LIFE IN THE LAND: One of the unique experiences that tour participants will have will be visiting several Jewish communities located in Judea and Samaria. An added bonus will be staying at Biblical Tamar Park, an ancient Jewish city south of the Dead Sea. Staying at Tamar Park will provide an opportunity to see how people, from the times of Abraham, Moses, King David, and the Prophets, lived in the Desert and how they were able to farm the land.
Everyone who registers for this trip is invited to extend his or her tour experience and become a Volunteer at Tamar after the tour. This low cost experience is available for up to a maximum of 90 days. Long term volunteers pay only $20 a day for board and room and short term volunteers, who stay less than 30 days, pay $30 a day. Volunteers are needed in various areas such as, horticulture, cooking, housekeeping, mechanical, carpentry, and beautifying the Park. ITINERARY Day 1: (Sunday) USA to Israel We will begin our journey as we depart from our home city and fly to Israel. (Everyone should be at the airport three hours prior to the flight.) Meals will be served during our flight. Day 2: (Monday) Sharon Valley, Ariel, Eshel HaShomron hotel We will arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and board our bus which will depart at 6 pm and head north through the Sharon Valley to Ariel. We will stay the next two nights at the beautiful Eshel HaShomron Hotel. After our check-in and first meal in Israel we will tour the Biblical Gardens with Tuvia at the hotel. Then it will be time for a good night s sleep. Day 3: (Tuesday) Northern Samaria, Ped Uel, Elon Moreh, Mount of Blessing, Itamar Today we will visit Northern Samaria stopping at Ped Uel and Elon Moreh. We will eat lunch and have a wine tasting experience at the Mount of Blessing Visitor s Center and then go to the city of Itamar and meet with the former mayor, Moshe Goldsmith. Eshel HaShamron Hotel will serve us another good meal and it will be time for relaxing and sleeping. Day 4: (Wednesday) Shiloh, Psagot Winery, Beit El, Ma ale Levona, Jerusalem Our first stop today will be at Shiloh, where the Tabernacle stood for 369 years. We will be led through the Shiloh Children s home by its founder, David Ruvin and then we will walk through the uncovered ruins of Shiloh. There will be another wine tasting opportunity and a picnic at the Psagot Winery (compliments of Hanoch and Mike) after which we will go to Beit El and Ma ale Levona. It
will then be time to go Up to Jerusalem where we will be spending three nights and celebrating Shabbat at our hotel. Day 5: (Thursday) Kotel Tunnels, Davidson s Center, Old City We will begin this day with an amazing tour of the Kotel Tunnels and Davidson s Center, including a time for prayer at the Western Wall. After lunch we will visit the son of the first Jew to buy a home in the Old City after the 1967 war. Our good friends, Moshe and Dov Kempenski, at Shorashim in the Old City, will talk to us about life in Jerusalem. Before heading back to our hotel for dinner we will take some time for a bit of Retail Therapy, also known as shopping. After dinner we will take a short walk to Ben Yehuda Street for an Israeli cultural experience. A bit more retail therapy may be needed! Day 6: (Friday) Temple Institute, City of David This will be a short day as Jerusalem prepares for Shabbat. We will begin with a guided tour of the Temple Institute and then the City of David. We will return to the hotel a bit early as we prepare for a teaching on Shabbat and the blessings to usher in this special Sabbath time. The Shabbat dinner is always a special occasion as we fellowship together. Day 7: (Saturday) Jerusalem It s always nice to be able to sleep in on the Sabbath. After a leisurely breakfast we will gather for our Torah study. After that we will have options to walk around the City or rest in our fine hotel rooms. The early afternoon will be a special time with the group that you will not forget. Remember to bring tissues. Day 8: (Sunday) Galilee, Capernium, Genasar, Tiberias We will drive north today to the Galilee and have a breathtaking view of the Sea from the Arbel Cliff. From there we will visit the synagogue at Capernium and the Ancient Boat at Genasar. For those who desire, our day will end with a Mikvah (immersion) in the Jordan River. We will stay two nights in the Leonardo Hotel in Tiberias.
Day 9: (Monday) Golan Heights, Peace Vista, Masada, Katzrin, Mt. Bental We will now tie the past, present, and future together as we drive around the southern shore of the Galilee and up to the Golan Heights. We will have another breathtaking view from the Peace Vista as we see the complete Galilee before our eyes. We will go on to Gamla, where we will begin to anticipate our upcoming visit to Masada and gain prospective. As per tradition, we will go to Katzrin where we can eat some pizza, and of course, whatever else you may wish to eat. Our day will end at Mt. Bental and Tel Dan. Day 10: (Tuesday) Jordan Valley, Qumran, Ein Gedi, Tamar Today we will drive south through the Jordan Valley and tour Qumran, where we will also have lunch. After that, we will hike up the springs of Ein Gedi, where David hid from Saul. Good camera batteries are important as we will pass many waterfalls and watch the goats climbing the hillside cliffs. We will continue on to the archeological site at Tamar, which will be our home for the next two nights. Day 11: (Wednesday) Tamar, Masada, Dead Sea After breakfast we will take a tour of Tamar, and then board our bus to go to Masada where we will take the cable car ride up to the top. There may also be a visit to one of the (possible) locations of ancient Sodom. Finally, it will be time for a swim in the Dead Sea and another relaxing night at Tamar, where we will have dinner and then enjoy a time of sharing the experiences we ve had on this trip. Day 12: (Thursday) Jerusalem, Macheni Yehuda market, Latrun, Israel to USA For our last day we will head back to Jerusalem and to the Holocaust Memorial, Yad V shem. To balance out our day, we will go to the Macheni Yehuda market for some last minute shopping and lunch. Our last stop will be at the tank museum at Latrun. There will be time before we arrive at the airport for a farewell dinner. Shalom! Day 13: (Friday) Israel to Home We depart Israel and return to our home countries.
