READ: ZECHARIAH 1:1-3 1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, 2 The LORD has been very angry with your fathers. 3 Therefore say to them, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Return to Me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.

QUESTIONS: ZECHARIAH 1:1-3 1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, WHO WAS THIS DARIUS? READ: HAGGAI 1:1 1 In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, (NKJ) KING DARIUS 520BC? WHAT THREE MEN DID THE LORD SPEAK TO?

QUESTIONS: ZECHARIAH 1:1-3 2 The LORD has been very angry with your fathers. WHY WAS THE LORD ANGRY WITH THEIR FATHERS? READ: 2 CHRONICLES 36:15-18 15 The LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. 16 But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy. 17 Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, on the aged or the weak; He gave them all into his hand.

QUESTIONS: ZECHARIAH 1:1-3 3 Therefore say to them, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Return to Me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. WHAT DID THE LORD WANT THE PEOPLE TO DO? READ: MALACAI 3:7 7 From the days of your fathers you have gone away from My ordinances and have not kept them. Return to Me and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. BUT you said, In what way shall we return? READ: JEREMIAH 18:7-8 7 The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 IF that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil THEN I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it.

READ: ZECHARIAH 1:4-6 4 Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they did not hear nor heed Me, says the LORD. 5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? 6 Yet surely My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? So they returned and said: Just as the LORD of hosts determined to do to us, according to our ways and according to our deeds, so He has dealt with us.

QUESTIONS: ZECHARIAH 1:4-6 4 Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds. READ: JEREMIAH 18:11 11 Speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says the LORD: Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good. READ: EZEKIEL 33:11 11 Say to them: As I live, says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?

QUESTIONS: ZECHARIAH 1:4-6 WE READ: ISAIAH 45:22 JEREMIAH 18:11 EZEKIEL 33:11 IS THIS NOT THE SAME MESSAGE? 4 Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they did not hear nor heed Me, says the LORD. HOW DID THEY RESPOND? 5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? WHAT ABOUT THEIR FATHERS? THE PROPHETS?

QUESTIONS: ZECHARIAH 1:4-6 6 Yet surely My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? So they returned and said: Just as the LORD of hosts determined to do to us, according to our ways and according to our deeds, so He has dealt with us. WHAT ABOUT THE WORD OF THE LORD? READ: ISAIAH 40:8 8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. READ: ISAIAH 55:11 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
