Stewardship The Path To Holiness Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 2016 Ministry Directory

A Stewardship Prayer Loving Father, you alone are the source of every good gift. We praise you for all your gifts to us, and we thank you for your generosity. Everything we have, and all that we are, comes from you. Help us to be grateful and responsible. You have called us to follow your son, Jesus, without counting the cost. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us courage and wisdom to be faithful disciples. We commit ourselves to being good stewards. Help us to be grateful, accountable, generous, and willing to give back with increase. Help us to make stewardship a way of life. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. AMEN 2

J esus calls us, as his disciples, to a new way of life the Christian way of life of which stewardship is part. But Jesus does not call us as nameless people in a faceless crowd. He calls us individually, by name. Each one of us clergy, religious, lay person; married, single; adult, child has a personal vocation. God intends each one of us to play a unique role in carrying out the divine plan. The challenge, then, is to understand our role our vocation and to respond generously to this call from God. Christian vocation entails the practice of stewardship. In addition, Christ calls each of us to be stewards of our personal vocations, which we receive from God. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord. Time Stewards of God's gifts are not passive beneficiaries. We cooperate with God in our own redemption and in the redemption of others. We are also obliged to be stewards of the Church collaborators and cooperators in continuing the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, which is the Church's essential mission. This mission proclaiming and teaching, serving and sanctifying is our task. It is the personal responsibility of each one of us as stewards of the Church. All members of the Church have their own roles to play in carrying out its mission. Talent Treasure Excerpts from U.S. Bishops' Pastoral Letter on Stewardship "As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1 Pt 4:10). 3

Stewardship The Path To Holiness Stewardship is a way of life, deeply rooted in Jesus Christ, who by His example, has taught us how to live. God has given each of us something to do that no one else on earth can do. No one else can be the person that God has called us to be. We are each unique and have been given a unique set of gifts and talents. As faithful stewards of our gifts, we do not keep them to ourselves. Through stewardship, Jesus makes clear to each of us our individual mission in the Church, giving us the grace to live stewardship as our way of life, helping us grow in spirituality and journey towards holiness. As we recognize the presence of God in our lives, we recognize our need to live out our call to stewardship, which inspires us to share our gifts of time, talent and treasure. In this way, we bring joy to others, which in turn, helps us find satisfaction and happiness. This Ministry Directory provides a list of many opportunities to choose from as you discern how you can best share your gifts here at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Please prayerfully consider how God may be calling you to share your gifts of time, talent and treasure in our parish family. 4
