UU Ministry for Earth has had a banner year, with a great deal to celebrate, as well as some new challenges. We are refining our mission and programming in light of the upcoming changes in the management of the Green Sanctuary Program. Below is a summary of our accomplishments this year. Our congregational memberships have grown significantly, from 104 last year to 146 this year, a 41 percent increase. Our individual and household memberships have increased from 480 last year to 528 this year, a 10 percent increase. The Green Sanctuary Program continues to grow at a high rate, with a 69 percent growth in congregations officially participating in the program. The level of enthusiasm for the work of Earth Ministry in our congregations continues to be a source of inspiration and pride. The administration of the Green Sanctuary Program is being transferred to the UUA, thus elevating Earth ministry within the faith as never before. After several years of working with the UUA to encourage denominational support for Earth Ministry, the Board of UU Ministry for Earth has facilitated a transfer of the Green Sanctuary Program administration into the UUA s Congregational Services program, the first environmentally focused program in UUA history.

We are deepening our collaborative work with the UUA leadership, with other UU groups, and in the greater world. We are moving toward a model of greater partnership within the faith, which can only serve our faith, and the world, by sharing resources, wisdom, and support as we carry on this important work. We are gratified by the response to the development and release of the new children's RE curriculum 'We Are All Connected - 7th Principle Butterfly Creepy Crawlies' that was donated by Stefani Scott and the UU Congregation of Stony Brook. We retained our status as an Affiliate of the Unitarian Universalist Association, one of only six Affiliates in the denomination. This was accomplished largely due to the broad-based congregational programming developed and supported by UU Ministry for Earth, and the Green Sanctuary Program was cited as a model program for congregational engagement. We are planning for the future of UU Ministry for Earth. The board of UU Ministry for Earth has been hard at work, planning for new programming, forming new partnerships, and building the organizational infrastructure to support our work, and the work of UUs across the country. We face some fiscal and structural challenges in this process, but are working diligently to meet these challenges responsibly and effectively. In the coming year, we plan to continue to serve all UUs with new programs, services, and trainings to support the work of Earth ministry. We have started a fundraising campaign to support the organization, and, in partnership with the UUA, to support a national UU environmental justice conference. Thank you for your work in the world. If you have not renewed your membership, please reflect on the accomplishments above, and consider renewing or increasing your support of UU Ministry for Earth. You will be hearing about new opportunities for supporting UU Ministry for Earth in the coming weeks as well. For the Earth, Barbara Ford, Board Chair
