Pastor Matt Kirkland Abraham never wavered in believing God s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. Romans 4:20 What might help you believe God s promises? I m gonna step out on a limb and say: His Word. If you faithfully study God s Word, you can help your faith grow, and in that you will be bringing glory to God. We can help Check out one of our great Sunday School classes or Growth Groups, you might be surprised what awesome people teach and attend them, and you might grow in Christ and glorify our Lord, all at the same time! Grace and peace, Pastor Matt From Pastor Fred Jantz Four score and seven days ago, our Father in heaven asked me to fill the pulpit and resource an elder board of a church in Roseville, Ca. The church was conceived in faith 20 years ago and was now going through a transition of a new pastor/ shepherd to see if what the Chief Shepherds wishes would long endure. It was dedicated to the proposition that all people are in need of a Savior and that His amazing grace was available to all. Kathy and I are back at LPC. The 140 mile round trip is now behind us. We were privileged to serve a wonderful group of people who are going through some major changes in their lives. God was so good...his presence was there...and His word gave good direction and stability. The new pastor has moved into town and has assumed his new responsibilities. The church is ready for a new chapter in their collective life. They want to offer HOPE to their affluent but inner broken world. Plenty to do around here... 1. Update our mission emphasis and make it more effective for our people. 2. Finalize the house purchase of 6245 Gettysburg, so that we can move forward with the next step in the full utilization of this site. I have fresh evidence that Jesus will build (Matt. 16:18) His Church...primarily people...but also the full evidence of His presence in their collective life of worship and service. He will be LORD. He is the LORD. What a privilege to belong to Him. Kid s News for October - Jessica Klinker Fall is here! We are all getting ready for Trunk or Treat. It was so much fun last year! This outreach reached over 600 people last year and we are predicting more will come this year. It is such a great way to get to know our neighborhood and for them to know us! Please consider decorating your trunk on October 31 st this year, from 6-8pm. We will give you lots of ideas if you need any help. If you are interested please talk to Jessica or send her an email at jessica@lincolnpres.org Also, we need lots of candy to give out, so pick up a bag or two and leave it in the containers we ll have set up in the narthex soon, or bring it by the office. We hope to see you there! If you see me walking around with a cape or superhero shirt on Sundays, it isn t that I think I m a superhero - we are learning about Superheroes of the Bible! We are comparing 3 Bible men and women each week that each have a superhero skill of generosity, doing what God asks them to do, doing what is right and more. In Preschool we are learning about the life of Joseph and how forgiveness conquers all. If your child is interested in going to camp, it is time to decide if you want to put in your deposit. I will be sending letters to every 3-5 grader, but if you know someone else who is interested please let me know. Mount Hermon is so popular we have to make our reservations by November 1st for next Summer! Awana is going great! A big THANK YOU shout out goes to our Directors Duffy Ruffin, Gela Wachholtz-Yee, Kathy Jantz, Story Leader Matt Klinker and Game Leader Matt Kirkland for all the work they do in preparation for Awana. It is smooth sailing because of you all! Upcoming: Trunk or Treat Summer Camp Registration Deacon Message Your deacons have the responsibility and the privilege of preparing and serving communion for this very important act of worship. Communion supplies are purchased, the bread is cut, the "wine" is poured and the elements are arranged on the beautifully draped communion table from which the pastor serves. Your deacons are honored to serve the body of believers at Lincoln and we thank you for your donations to the Deacon Fund. Attention students: November 1st is the deadline for submitting letters of request for scholarships for any member of Lincoln attending college or a vocational school. First time applicants should have regular attendance and members who live away should attend church in the area where they attend school. Each applicant should submit a let- ter of request indicating the name of the school, the history of their involvement with LPC, current address and phone number. Please mail them to Mary Kaye Moore at Lincoln Presbyterian Church at 900 Douglas Rd. Stockton, CA 95207 or email them to the church at office@lincolnpres.org. Donations received in the months of June and November support this important ministry. Deacon Service Page 3
