During this season of Lent we have been invited to gather together as God s people to listen once again to the stories that have guided the particular journey of Christians for nearly two millennia. Lenten House Churches, Lenten Lunches, Sunday School classes and Sunday worship services have given us much to ponder. Last Sunday we waved palm branches and sung Hosanna, Loud Hosanna much like the crowds who lined the streets of Jerusalem long ago. On Thursday we will gather together and participate in Holy Communion and remember the supper Jesus shared with his friends. We will hear once more how the followers of Jesus turned against him on Good Friday, just a day later. Perhaps on Saturday we will pause for a little while and imagine the quiet grief of those whose hopes lay in the grave with Jesus. What is important on this journey of faith is where it leads to our own Jerusalem, to a rejection of that which is temporary, to a meal with friends, to a solemn prayer in a garden, to a making a decision about what is eternally important, and then being treated in a way that no one deserves. And learning a little more about the greatness of God s love each and every step of the way. On the third day Jesus rose from the grave! God s amazing love for us was shown to the fullest and a foolish world was forgiven. Through the resurrection God brings healing to what is broken and new life even where there is death. Alleluia! Christ is Risen! Holy Thursday Tenebrae Service April 1 at p.m. in the sanctuary Good Friday Prayer Vigil (come and go) April 2 at 11:00 a.m. p.m. in the chapel The 11:00 a.m. service is broadcast each Sunday on Brenham radio KWHI/AM 1280 and Channel 10 Cable TV.
