Health Ministry/Nurses Guild Health Topic: Arthritis What Is Arthritis? Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints. It can affect one joint or multiple joints. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis, with different causes and treatment methods. Two of the most common types are osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The symptoms of arthritis usually develop over time, but they may also appear suddenly. Arthritis is most commonly seen in adults over the age of 65, but it can also develop in children, teens, and younger adults. Arthritis is more common in women than men and in those who are overweight. What Causes Arthritis? Cartilage is a firm but flexible connective tissue in your joints. A reduction in the normal amount of this cartilage tissue cause some forms of arthritis. Normal wear and tear causes OA, one of the most common forms of arthritis. Your risk of developing OA may be higher if you have a family history of the disease. Another common form of arthritis, RA, is an autoimmune disorder. It occurs when your body s immune system attacks the tissues of the body. What Are the Symptoms of Arthritis? Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling are the most common symptoms of arthritis. Your range of motion may also decrease, and you may experience redness of the skin around the joint. Many people with arthritis notice their symptoms are worst in the morning. What Is the Long-Term Outlook for People with Arthritis? There is no cure for arthritis. However, the right treatment can greatly reduce your symptoms. In addition to the treatments your doctor recommends, you can make a number of lifestyle changes that may help you manage your arthritis. Tithing Affirmation: I am a biblically based tither because the word of God teaches tithing, my experience bears witness to tithing and my obedience to God requires tithing. I tithe my time, my talent and my treasure to God and His house. For it says in Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tithe into the storehouse, that there may be meat in My house and prove Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. To God be the Glory, Great things He has done. To God be the Glory, Great things He has done. To God be the Glory, Great things He has done. ONLINE GIVING ON FBCOG.ORG! You can submit your tithes and offering any time day or night at home or away when you click the DONATE button from the home page of our website, FBCOG.org! ONLINE GIVING is a very simplified, safe and easy process that allows you to dictate the payment type (i.e., tithes, offering, etc.)! Check out ONLINE GIVING and ALL the updates at FBCOG.ORG TODAY! This is a secure site! You can also go to Givelify and add the App to your phone to do online giving. To contact Pastor s Administrative Assistant, Susan Omoniyi, please send an email to admin@fbcog.org or call 301-725-2600. The Intercessory Prayer Ministry Team welcomes those who have a burden for prayer that have given their lives to Christ to be part of this prayer ministry team. We would ask there be a representative from each ministry of First Baptist to stand in intercession praying the will of God for this branch of Zion. We meet on Saturday morning in the main sanctuary at 8 am. Should you have a prayer need and want prayer covering you can send request to prayerministry@fbcog.org I John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us whatever we ask we know that we have what we asked of him. It Happens By Faith No Limits, New Levels, New Life! Romans 1:16-17 Jonah 4:5-11 "The Work of the Worm" Why do we think we can hide from El Roi, the God Who Sees? We choose the route of self-satisfaction over and over again when the One who lives in us desires bigger and better for us. A little gaze at Jonah, the prophet of God, shows us ourselves. Jehovah God has given Jonah a mandate to go and preach to a group of people that Jonah feels is not worthy of being saved by his God. Or God has given us something to do and like Jonah, because we are unable to see the full potential of the situation or the full provision of the God Who Sees, we make bad choices and decisions causing us to take detours that God did not plan for us to take and facing worms that cause us problems. All Knowing Father, knowing that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity (Jonah 3:2b, NIV). Help us to avoid becoming a complacent and defiant people; running away in the opposite direction from the assignment we have been given, for disobedience is never free. Holy Spirit, let us come to understand that gracefulness, appreciation and gratitude with a pure heart will provide us with unspeakable joy for those who worship El Elyon, the Most High God. In Jesus Name, Amen! Ministry Activities: Every Tuesday Prayer Line 6-7 pm all are welcome to join! 218-895-3086 code 732237729# Every Saturday join us for Intercessory Prayer at 8 to 9 am in the sanctuary. Prayer March 23, 2017 at 7:30 pm on the Prayer Line listed. Meditative: Spend time with the Lord and in The Word daily! Prayer needs contact: prayerministry@fbcog.org
