We glorify God by building healthy relationships with God, with one another, and with our community following the example of Jesus Christ.

Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them.

Christmas Day December 25, 2013 Gathering 10:00 AM Prelude VI Noel Louis Claude Daquin Welcome and Greeting Blessed be the Holy Trinity, + one God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the word made flesh, the Lord and the giver of life. Amen. Let us come into the light of Christ, confessing our need for God s mercy. Silence is kept for reflection. God of peace, we confess that we are not at peace with others or with ourselves. We bring to you all that tears us apart: discord in our families, violence in our world, our own conflicted hearts. In your mercy, mend us. Reconnect us to one another and you. Let peace reign over all the earth, through the Prince of peace, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. In the word who has come Rise, shine, for your light has come. Amen. A holy day has dawned upon us. Come, you nations, and adore the Lord. For today a great light has come upon the earth. Gathering Hymn ELW 270 Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Prayer of the Day Almighty God, you gave us your only Son to take on our human nature and to illumine the world with your light. By your grace adopt us as your children and enlighten us with your Spirit, through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Word First Lesson Isaiah 52:7-10 Psalm 98 1 Sing a new song to the LORD, who has done marvelous things, whose right hand and holy arm have won the victory. 2 O LORD, you have made known your victory, you have revealed your righteousness in the sight of the nations. 3 You remember your steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. 4 Shout with joy to the LORD, all you lands; lift up your voice, rejoice, and sing. 5 Sing to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the voice of song. 6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn shout with joy before the king, the LORD. 7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it, the world and those who dwell therein. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, and let the hills ring out with joy before the LORD, who comes to judge the earth. 9 The LORD will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with equity. Second Lesson Hebrews 1:1-4 Children s Message Gospel Acclamation ELW 253 He Came Down, v. 1 Gospel John 14:1-14 (vv. 2-4 of the hymn will be sung throughout the Gospel reading) 2

Sending Prayer after Communion We give you thanks, O God, that in this bread and cup of Christ s very life, you give us food for our journey. As you led the magi by a star, as you brought the holy family home again, guide us on the way unfolding before us. Wherever we go, may our lives proclaim good news of great joy in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Blessing May the Word that Mary brought to birth carry you into new and abundant life. Amen. May the Word that Joseph cradled in his arms enfold you with love and strength. Amen. May the Word that angels proclaimed in song bring harmony to our world. Amen. And the blessing of almighty God, the Father the + Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen. Closing Hymn ELW 288 Good Christian Friends, Rejoice!
