Bette Cook, Teresa Bailey and Brenda Kirkpatrick will treat us to a soup supper! A program on quilting will be presented by Melva Magee and Cindy Bruce. Our Rummage Sale will be held on February 25, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are now accepting your donations for this sale. Please put them on tables especially marked for items brought in or on the floor. Please do not place them on tables with items already priced. WE CAN- NOT ACCEPT CLOTHING. However, we WILL accept hats, shoes, belts, jewelry, purses. We will need help from the CWF each Thursday from now until the sale date. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 on these Thursdays. As we get into February, we will probably need to work additional days as well. The last week before the sale we will be at the church every day. This is always a big project and a big fund raiser for our CWF. We will certainly appreciate your donations and your help getting ready for the sale! INVITATION FROM CLAY STREET CHRISTIAN CHURCH We have received an invitation from Clay Street Christian Church for a Laity Program this Sunday, Jan. 22, at 3 p.m. Women and men are welcome. There will be a speaker and the program will last approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. Linda Jensen and several other ladies are planning to attend and will meet at our church at 2:30, in case anyone wants a ride. DID YOU KNOW? We are getting ready for our CWF Rummage Sale to be held on February 25, 2017. If you have items you want to put in the rummage sale, please bring them to the church as soon as possible. Once we start pricing and setting up, it is difficult to have items come in late so it would be appreciated if you could bring your items as soon as possible. We will need a lot of help setting up and pricing for the sale. As usual Valetha will be supervising this HUGE project THANKS VALETHA. I m sure she will have a schedule put in the newsletter. We are in need of plastic bags so if you have some at home please bring them to the church. Chris Garey will be having his meeting Sunday after church on Property matters and since he is going to provide lunch, it is important that you let Brandi know if you will be attending the meeting so Chris has an idea of how much food to provide. So far she has had a response from only 3 or 4 people but I have heard several people say they will attend the meeting. Linda Ferguson

Minister s Insights and Inspiration I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. When did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink, a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee, sick or in prison and visit thee? And the King will answer, Truly, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me. Matthew 25 Giving outside of ourselves is critical to our life as a Christian congregation. Our Mission Program has projected the following outreach giving for 2017. Special Offerings The Souper Bowl, Week of Compassion, Easter, Pentecost, Reconciliation, Thanksgiving and Christmas with goals of $200 for each. This would be a total of $1,400, the amount budgeted for 2017. The actual amounts paid are the amounts received for each offering. There is a schedule for the promotion, receipt and payment of these offerings. Regular Outreach Giving The 2017 budgeted amount for Regular Outreach giving is $4,000. The Trinity-Brazos Area will receive $100 a month, a total of $1,200. The Area provides resources for our congregation and others, runs and maintains our Disciples Crossings campground in Athens and will help us in our search for a new senior minister. Supporting community agencies is a major part of our ministry. Seven agencies are scheduled to receive one-time payments of $200 for 2017 from January through July. They are Friends for Life, the Family Abuse Center, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), The Salvation Army, Caritas, Meals with Wheels and Mission Waco/World. These gifts will total $1,400 With TBA receiving $1,200 and the community agencies $1,400, a total of $2,600, this would leave the Program $1,400 to allocate for Outreach for the remainder of 2017. A decision about the use of these funds will be made later in the year. Evangelism In addition to Outreach monies in the Mission Program budget, there is $1,000 budgeted for Evangelism. Other Outreach Later in the year consideration will be given to providing school supplies for children, Operation Christmas Child with our shoe boxes, Mission Waco Toy Store and other such service opportunities some sponsored by our Mission or other organizations in the church. Jim Young is our Mission Program coordinator. Others working with our program are Ethel Biddle, Angela Carothers, Bette Cook, Terry Ermoian, Pat McFerrin and Dana Renschler. Let s give this program our full support with our prayers, our volunteering and our giving, Richard
