CHURCH COVENANT Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour; and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ. We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every organization of human origin; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; to contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has prospered us, towards its expenses, for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. In case of difference of opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit, and if we cannot unanimously agree, we will cheerfully recognize the right of the majority to govern. We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study diligently the word of God, to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our employ, and faithful in the service we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will towards all men to exemplify and commend our holy faith. We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every good word and work; to guard each other s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other s joys, and with tender sympathy bear one another s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Saviour in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; and through life, amid evil report, and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God, who hath called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible to unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God s word.

ABYWEST Thank you to everyone who supported the $3.0 in 24MO! Campaign and those who attended the reception. This two year campaign officially ended on October 31, 2016. To date, the campaign allowed us to pay for the cost of nearly two of the five floors. Your generosity has been overwhelming. As you can see, we still have a way to go. For those who have not completed their pledge, we want you to continue your payments even though the campaign has ended from an accounting point of view. All of your future payments will be noted to your pledge. We ask all to continue to support AbyWest. New initiatives will roll out soon as we forge ahead to reach our goal of $8MM to complete the entire five floor community center. We strive to attain 100% participation because we want others to know that our membership is committed to this effort. Your support is greatly appreciated!

THE ABYSSINIAN BAPTIST CHURCH MISSIONARY MINISTRY 2016 STEWARDSHIP REPORT The mission of The Abyssinian Baptist Church Missionary Ministry is to evangelize and spread the Gospel through intercessory prayer, visitation, scripture reading, food distribution, educational workshops and donations, as well as faithful service to the sick and shut-in, the incarcerated, seniors, and those in need, locally, nationally, and internationally. VISITATION Abyssinian Missionaries shared encouragement with the church s sick and shut-in members through cards, calls, home, and hospital visits. We supported grieving missionary members and their families. Further, Abyssinian Missionaries delivered over 30 Easter Lilies and The Daily Word to Sick & Shut-in members and others during Holy Week and beyond Resurrection Sunday. Sadly, this year we lost longtime member Sister, Bernyce Hay. FOREIGN MISSION The Abyssinian Missionary Ministry also supported the church s affiliate, Abyssinian Fund, with donations and assistance. We are committed to assisting Reverend Itang Young in the work of AbyFund, and remain supportive of international projects supported by the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. We made our annual contribution to the Hospital in Malawi, Africa, attended The Foreign Mission Rally in November 2016, the United Missionary Baptist Association s World Day of Prayer in November 2016, and maintain our membership in the Loyal Boosters. HOME MISSIONS At home, we donated clothing to various Nursing homes through the Women s Auxiliary of the Empire Baptist Missionary Convention (EBMC). We supply food and clothing to the Shelter for new families as needed. During the upcoming holiday season, Abyssinian Missionaries will once again support local seniors and families in the Harlem Community who are in need through the Charlyce B. Sampson Christmas Love Basket effort. We anticipate distributing 200 baskets, and thank God for the generous donations from numerous Abyssinian service ministries, church members, and the 100 Black Men Organization. The Missionary s Ministry remains enthusiastic in support of our church s AbyWest project. GENERAL Throughout 2016, our members supported Harlem and greater NYC Churches in celebrations, revivals, workshops and conferences. Our members attended the National Baptist Convention in September 2016; all sessions of the United Missionary Baptist Association, and we were present at the October 2016 Annual Session when Abyssinian s Deaconess Chair, Eleanor E. Olive, was elected President of The Women s Auxiliary to the United Missionary Baptist Association; We supported and served at the Empire Baptist Missionary Convention, and we collaborated with the Abyssinian American Baptist Women s Ministry. The Missionary Ministry has, and will continue to achieve its mission duties. We seek the Lord s guidance for the plans that we hope to expand in the areas of Foreign and Home Mission.

From the streets of Ferguson to the contaminated water pipes of Flint, Black communities have recently faced the harsh reality of state-sanctioned genocide in 21 st Century America. Where is Jesus in this moment? Through engaging discussions, lectures, and group reflections, this course will explore the revolutionary nature of Jesus who proclaimed a radical, economic, social, and political change for a people living under the force of the Roman Empire. Required Reading: The Politics of Jesus: Rediscovering The True Revolutionary Nature of the Jesus Teachings and How They Have Been Corrupted by Obery M. Hendricks, Jr. Declare & Decree: Effectual Fervent Prayer Life - Instructor: Min. Pamela Mason Thursdays 12/1 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Vestry How do we achieve the strength, focus and self-discipline needed to experience abundance in our lives when the enemy comes to lie, steal and destroy the promises of God? When we begin to see ourselves the way God sees us, we learn to pray as heirs to a risen King who gave His life so that we might live in abundance, peace and love. Through this four-part workshop experience, we will explore what it means to put on the full armor of God, stand on God s principles and pray God s promises back to Him. Join us as we strengthen our witness of Christ by putting into practice what the scriptures teach us about faith-based prayers. If you saw the film, War Room, you don t want to miss this special teaching series on the power of an effectual fervent prayer life.
