March 2015 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Dear Brothers and Sisters, I made the trip to the Shasta Lodge with Michael, John, Lorna, Roy and Yvette Vanoni; to celebrate their lodges Anniversary party. I want to thank you all from the Shasta lodge for making me feel at home. Our 29th annual Spaghetti and meatball dinner is right around the corner, on April 12th, so anyone who has yet to obtain a position to help; please contact John A.S.A.P. March meeting is our sauce/gravy cook off. Just bring your best sauce or a dessert and dinner is on us. If you can t bring sauce or a dessert, no worries, the cost is only $5.00 per person. The lodge will be supplying the pasta, salad, bread, butter and wine. I would like to personally send congratulations out to our new delegates; Frank and Georgia Scotella. Our convention this year will be remarkable. Special thanks to our friends at Forcella restaurant for taking on over 24 of our members at the last Dine out. Even though the kitchen was backed up, they mentioned that our smiling faces and positive attitudes helped keep other patrons happy. I look forward to seeing all of you at our regular meeting on March 19th for Good Food, Good Wine and Good Friends. Respectfully, President, Gary R. The meeting was opened at 6:45pm by President Gary Buona sera, spero che tutto va bene. Good evening, I hope everyone is well. Those to be inducted are: Treasurer Franco DiLorenzo, Trustee Cathy Lucido, Mistress & Master of Ceremonies Ron & Marilyn Cervantez. Officer photos will be taken. Payments: Debbie Rossi reported checks were made for: Spaghetti Dinner Posters and stamps & envelopes to the tickets. Financial Reports: disbursements. Treasurer Report: 2 CD's. Debbie Rossi read checking account balance, dues paid & Franco DiLorenzo read the balance on hand for checking & Communications: We received a letter from the Grand Lodge for the Winner Every Day Raffle. Tickets for the new year are available. Shasta Lodge Anniversary Party is February 21st.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Sunshine: free! Ex-President Michael Smith has good news...he's cancer Anniversary Party: Cathy Lucido & Jeannie Smith. The date is set for May 16th at Canyon Oaks Country Club. Tickets will be $30. They will report more at the next meeting regarding fundraising ideas at the event. Meeting Place: Michael Smith--The cost for meeting at St. Johns hall was set at $100 per meeting by the church, which is $50/hr. ARC Pavilion would be $150/night, and holds 240 people. We could hold our Anniversary dinner there, Christmas party etc. Unknown. A member asked if the Newman Center cost went up. Don Smith is checking into the Grange. Gary Smith is looking into the Masonic Center. Spaghetti Dinner: John Jefsen--Our 29th annual Spaghetti Dinner is April 12th. Pre-sale tickets make this event a success. Pasta will be cooked Friday afternoon. Assignments are being made by Committee Chairs. Remember to wear white shirt & black pants. SOI Golf Classic: Michael Smith We lost Recology as our main sponsor. Joe Matz relocated to So. Cal. We need a major sponsor to pay for the lunches which cost about $1500 and to bring 30-40 golfers. Michael will pay the $250 to secure our date. The dinner TBA. Gary Smith will look into the possibility of Build.com and Facebook @ the airport to become our main sponsor. Patrick Cottini will check with Cleanrite Buildrite. Wildflower Music Festival: Gary Smith This event is May 9th at the end of Normal Street. The band Mother Hips will be playing. This is Mother s Day weekend. They expect 1,000 people to attend, last year it was 700. Italian Ice will be attending as well. The only food there will be us, a taco truck & vegetarian food. We will be selling food and giving a % to Wildflower School.

Veterans Spaghetti Dinner/Dance: This event is October 3rd. Rocky said it's a go, but there needs to be a meeting with them before to help get them organized. There is a need for 6-8 people. Call Steve Soldavini if you can help out. Bocce Ball: Joe Serembe from Oakmont Lodge in Chico would like to challenge us to bocce. Tiffany Capuano is the Bocce Chair. We'll hear more from her in the near future. Culture Report: meeting in March. Dominick Chiracosta volunteered to speak at the next Delegates: We need to vote for two. The position will last for two years. Those that have been nominated are Frank & Georgia Scotella and Ken Mackey. Nominations were opened: Ken Mackey declined. There were no further nominations. A motion was made to vote for Frank & Georgia Scotella by Michael Smith, Second by Rocky Santulli. The Vote was unanimous, voting was finalized by Michael Smith's motion and a Second by John Jefsen to vote in as our delegates, Frank & Georgia Scotella. Dine out: Cathy Lucido, John Jefsen The February Dine Out will be at the new Italian Restaurant, Forcella's located on Mangrove Ave. and owned by one of our members Toni Johnson and her family. Please RSVP John Jefsen as seating is limited. Officers Meeting: March 5th. The next meeting will be at Steve Soldavini's house, Thursday New Business: March meeting will be our Sauce Cook-off. The Lodge will provide pasta, salad, dressing, bread & butter and wine. Those who don't bring a sauce or dessert will pay $5.00 per plate. We will vote on best of show. Raffle: 50/50 raffle Jeannie Smith won $45.00 Wish You Were Here raffle: Jeannie Smith won again! $25.00 $100 raffle: Gaylene DiLorenzo won $100! ***The $100 raffle tickets only cost $10. There will be 10 drawings and your name goes back in if you win. You can sell tickets to your friends, but we only sell 200. They're gearing up for their Penne Pasta & Meatball dinner to be held March 8 at the Senior Center on Nunley. Tickets are $15 adults; time is 12:30-5:30p.m. However many of us attend, they will match us by attending ours.
