If your church has usable decorations from previous years, you are welcome to contact Donna Cooke, or (336) 727-1222 to schedule a drop-off time. As the various themes repeat from different publishers, we expect to have areas for beach/ocean, outer space/sky, Jerusalem/Babylon and others. Anyone is welcome then to come shop the props when you have a need at the local church, whether it be for an after school adventure during the academic year or a traditional VBS time. This is one way we can be in connection and honor stewardship resources at the same time. In order to remain current, we have ordered the fully revised sets of the four Disciple Bible Studies: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study Into the Word Into the World Remember Who You Are Under the Tree of Life If you want to reserve a study when they arrive, please send an email to. It is on a first request, first served basis. We also have the short term studies in the library, as well. SAFE SANCTUARIES: MANDATORY!!!!! 1

Medlin Around Do you know how many kinds of calendars there are? I have only used three types in my entire life. One was the little black book the Cokesbury Daily Suggester. I used this for years and then became important (just another name for too many meetings) and had to switch to the UM Daily Pocket Calendar. I used this one for a long time and then became a DS. I started getting bigger calendars where I could write lots of stuff more meetings in a day than anybody ought to have. I found, and began using, the Church Office Planner published by Christianity Today. But in looking toward 2013, and needing a new planner, I could not find one for next year from Christianity Today. So, I had to start looking. Let me ask you again, Do you know how many kinds of calendars there are? I went through web site after web site just looking for something that matched my planner. I looked at United Methodist calendars, Episcopal calendars, Roman Catholic calendars, and Lutheran calendars. Nobody had what I wanted. So I turned to secular sites and began examining their stuff. I found one by the Mead Company a DayMinder that I think will meet my needs! One of the things I discovered as I went through calendar after calendar is that, regardless of the type of calendar I got, nobody offered me more days! Every calendar for 2013 gave me the same 365 days. It didn t matter how much I spent on the calendar, or how big it was, how miniscule it was..whether I needed a briefcase in which to carry it, or whether I could tuck it inside one of my socks, nobody gave me more time! That is what I call the GREAT EQUALIZER! We may not have the same talents, drive the same cars, or live in the same types of homes, but we all have the same number of days. The psalmist, recognizing this, wrote, So teach us to number (order) our days that we may get a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90: 12 RSV). That s the key, isn t it? Not just to have some days, but to number them so that our calendar of life matches up with the one who is the LIFE of the calendar even Jesus Christ our Lord! God be close to you. Bill 3
