Appleton Family Ministries (now known as Appleton Episcopal Ministries) was begun in Macon as a home for orphans of Confederate soldiers and changed with the times to become group homes serving various needs and an outdoor therapeutic center. It now operates as an after-school program for at-risk children and a mentoring program for their parents. For more information about this ministry, contact Missioner Julie Groce, 478/731-5901, or visit their website at www.appletonepiscopal.org. A special offering for Appleton Episcopal Ministries to be taken in all churches "on Thanksgiving Day or between the Sundays preceding and following Thanksgiving Day, both inclusive" is written in the diocesan canons (No. 24). We will have a basket at the altar on Sunday, November 27th, to receive your generous donations. DECEMBER S MISSION OF MERCY: DECEMBER 5, 2016 RECTOR S DISCRETIONARY FUND As with any outreach organization, to help those in need requires the generous donation of funds. The Rector s discretionary fund is no different. As a priest, people come to Ceci for help. She helps people in spiritual, caring ways, but sometimes the need is financial, whether it's food for a family or a light bill for an elderly person. Please support Ceci in her calling to help those who come to her, by giving to her discretionary fund. As always, donations are accepted year round. Advent, the season of waiting and expecting, is a great time to give on behalf of those in need.

REACHING OUT! Be the hands and feet of Christ in our community and the world. THRIFT SHOP OPEN HOUSE Sunday, December 4 th from 10 am 12:30 pm Please pay a visit to our wonderful Thrift Shop and see all the changes that have taken place this year. Light refreshments and coffee will be served. Donations will also be accepted. Please support our Christ Church Thrift Shop! IVONNE S GOING AWAY GIFT After 5 years as our Thrift Shop manager, Ivonne Obelar will be leaving us on December 17 th. She needs to accept a full time position for the future. Ivonne has been a blessing and an inspiration and has made our shop bright, organized and attractive. We would like to honor Ivonne with a going away purse that will help her as she begins her new journey. As a single mom with 4 children, money is always tight. If you would like to participate, please make a check out to Christ Church, write Ivonne s purse on the memo line and put it in the offering plate. You may also drop off a donation to Beth in the church office. We also invite everyone to stop by on Saturday, December 17 th, which will be Ivonne s last day. The TS volunteers are hosting a drop-in potluck lunch, so stop by for a bite and to wish Ivonne well. Our new manager, Veronica Rodriguez, has been training with Ivonne for the past month and will take over on December 20 th. Please call Susie Duke with questions 678-938-2617. Thanks for your support. CALLING ALL KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS The Order of St. Luke, which offers healing prayers in the parlor every Sunday during Holy Eucharist, needs people who crochet or knit, to make small hand-held prayer cloths, about the size of your hand. They can be in any shape--rectangles, squares, triangles, circles, etc. any color, or any design. The prayer cloths will be blessed by our clergy and given to anyone who requests them, as they provide a source of comfort and healing. Feel free to give them to Sarah Randall or Val Wilson, or you may bring them to the church office. For more information about the Order of St. Luke, please contact Sharon Pitman.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS to be changed We re shedding light on the who, what, why, and where within our parish. Look for the weekly highlight Q&A to learn more! Question: Why do we sing each verse in the hymn? Why not sing the first and the last verse of each hymn? Answer: The hymns sung at each service reflect the Liturgy and further illustrates the sermon. Singing also is considered a form of prayer.
