Frazeysburg United Methodist Church Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors. From the Pastor... Just around the corner... Well, we ve almost made it. Spring is almost here just around the corner as they say. It seems odd that we re already into March and I m still not used to writing the year 2017 on my checks. Ash Wednesday is March 1 st. I wasn t ready for that when I turned the page of the calendar. Wow! We re into Lenten season already. Lent is the season when we remember Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by Satan for 40 days. Many people give something up for 40 days; they fast from something. Some people eat no meat during lent. Others refrain from consuming alcohol and still others don t watch their favorite T.V. show during lent. I know a few who do not give something up, but rather add something to their Lenten Season. They may add additional prayer time, make additional offerings, do additional mission work or service to the church, whatever they are led to do. Whatever you decide to do, don t let the Lenten Season go by without making it special. Your own observance of Lent will make Resurrection Sunday (Easter) all the more meaningful. Lent is about penitence, (repentance, regret, contrition). It requires hard work in looking within ourselves. It s hard to do and easy to make excuses for not doing it. It takes a lot of honesty and courage to own up to whom we are and where we are in our walk with Christ. My prayers are for your successful work in this Lenten Season. Yours in Christ, Pastor Bob March 2017 Inside this issue: Scheduled to Serve Upcoming Events on Our Calendar Attendance & Offering Bulletin Board Thank You Page and Prayer Concerns Outreach Page: Dare to Care Family Life 2 3 4 5 6 7 8-9 Missions 10 KICK and SOS Youth 11
