I T I N E R A R Y Day 1 Monday, May 14: Depart U.S.A. Our pilgrimage begins today as we depart on our overnight flight to Tel Aviv. Meals and drinks will be served aloft. Day 2 Tuesday, May 15: Arrive Tel Aviv / Jerusalem Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv we will be met by our local guide Father David Wathen, OFM who will escort us throughout our stay in the Holy Land and make the Scriptures come alive as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Drive to the hotel in Jerusalem for overnight. (D) Day 3 Wednesday, May 16: Jerusalem Following breakfast we will proceed to the Latin Patriarchate, the Cathedral and Residence of the Catholic Bishop of Jerusalem, and during our audience those pilgrims in our group who are members of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre will receive their Pilgrim Shells. This afternoon we will view from a distance the Temple Area of the Old City featuring the beautiful Dome of the Rock, Mosque el Aqsa, followed by a visit to the Wailing Wall which is near the holiest site (the site of the two Jewish temples) in the world for Jews. Continue to Mt. Zion to visit the Upper Room which is the site of the Last Supper, King David's Tomb, Dormition Abbey where Mary fell into eternal sleep and St. Peter in Gallicantu where Peter denied Jesus three times. Early this evening (if possible) we will make our Solemn Entry into the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. (B/D) Day 4 Thursday, May 17: Jerusalem Drive to Bethlehem for Mass at the Nativity Church which was built above the traditional Grotto of Jesus birth visit. Then tour the Manger, the Grotto of St. Jerome, the Church of St. Catherine, the Milk Grotto and the Shepherd s Fields. Then enjoy a special experience as we visit Bethlehem University, which is staffed by Christian Brothers where we will meet students and faculty. This university enhances the lives of many young people in Palestine by providing higher education to both Christians and Moslems. Our lunch will be provided by the Hotel Management Department of Bethlehem University. After an opportunity for shopping at one of the Christian Arab stores in Bethlehem we will drive to Bethany to visit the town of Mary, Martha and Lazarus and the Tomb of Lazarus. After dinner this evening we will return to the Church of the Rock of Agony at Gethsemane for a Holy Hour from 8:00 to 9:00 PM with the opportunity for confession. (B/L/D) Day 5 Friday, May 18: Jerusalem This morning we will enter the Old City of Jerusalem and visit the Church of St. Anne, the Pool of Bethesda, the Chapel of Flagellation, and view the Arch of the Ecce Homo. We will then experience a highlight of our pilgrimage as we follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to visit Golgotha and the Tomb of Our Lord. This afternoon we will drive to Ein Karem to Visit the Visitation Church where Mary proclaimed her famous Magnificat and the Church of St. John where John the Baptist was born. (B/D) Day 6 Saturday, May 19: Jerusalem After an early morning Mass in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre we will return to hotel for breakfast. Later in the morning we will drive to the top of the Mt. of Olives for a spectacular view of Jerusalem. Visit the Church of Pater Noster and the Chapel of Ascension. Then walk the Palm Sunday Road to Dominus Flevit where Our Lord wept over Jerusalem. Proceed to the Garden of Gethsemane to visit the Church of All Nations and celebrate Mass on the Rock of Agony. This afternoon we will drive through the Judean Wilderness to the Dead Sea where we will have an opportunity to float on the salty, mineral laden waters. Next we visit ancient Jericho, the oldest known city in the Western world. From the top of the archaeological tel we ll have an excellent view of Elisha s Fountain, the Mt. of Temptation. We then drive to the city center to see a sycamore tree which recalls the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector. Return to our hotel in Jerusalem. This evening we will enjoy a Farewell Jerusalem cocktail reception and dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D) Day 7 Sunday, May 20: Jerusalem / Petra Today we will check out of our hotel and drive to the Allenby Bridge to cross into the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Once in

Jordan we will visit the traditional Baptismal Site on the River Jordan and view Elijah s Hill, the place from which the great prophet went up into the sky in a fiery chariot. We will continue to Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land. After Mass at the Franciscan Chapel, we will travel south to the ancient city of Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, and settle into our hotel, followed by a Jordanian dinner. (B/D) Day 8 Monday, May 21: Petra / Amman This morning we will take a horse ride (or walk) through the Siq to the magnificent city of Petra, which was rediscovered in 1912. This rose red city was founded by the Nabatean Arabs as their capital city and lies in a valley enclosed by sandstone cliffs in shades of red, purple and pale yellow. The remains of Petra bear eloquent testimony to its former power, wealth and architecture. We will marvel at the masterpieces of the Treasury, made famous by the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and visit the Monastery, the Triumphal Arch and the Roman Amphitheatre. We will then travel to Amman, the capital of Jordan, which was built by the Romans according to a traditional city plan and which, like Rome, sprawls over seven hills. Following this, we will proceed to our hotel. (B/D) view the ancient structure of the House of Peter. Next proceed to Tabgha, site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and to the nearby Church of the Primacy of Peter where Peter was told feed my lambs, feed my sheep. We then drive up to the Mount of the Beatitudes, the site of the Sermon on the Mount. (B/L/D) Day 12 Friday, May 25: Tiberias / Netanya Depart Tiberias and drive to Mount Carmel, home of the prophets Elijah and Elisha, to visit Muhraqa which is the site of the sacrifice of Elijah. We will continue our drive south along the Mediterranean coast to ancient Caesarea, the capital of the ancient Roman Procurators of Judea where St. Peter preached and St. Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial. Visit the Roman Theater, the Crusader s Moat and the Roman hippodrome. Our drive continues to our hotel in Netanya. (B/D) Day 13 Saturday, May 26: Netanya / Tel Aviv / U.S.A. This morning transfer to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv to catch our return flight home. Day 9 Tuesday, May 22: Amman / Tiberias This morning depart Amman and drive to the northern border crossing to cross back into the Holy Land. We then drive north through the fertile Jordan River Valley, until we reach the Sea of Galilee and board a boat for a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Then we check in at our hotel in the town of Tiberias, our home for the next three nights. (B/D) Day 10 Wednesday, May 23: Tiberias Following breakfast we will drive to Cana of Galilee where Our Lord performed the first miracle changing water into wine at the wedding feast. Here, we'll invite couples to renew their marriage vows. We will then proceed to Nazareth, Our Lord s boyhood town where we will visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and Joseph's Workshop. In the afternoon take an excursion to the summit of Mt. Tabor to visit the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Return to Tiberias.
