Anthem: Lift up your heads, O ye gates William Mathias (1934-1992) Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you everlasting doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty he is the King of glory. (from Psalm 24) Hymn during Communion Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour, first-begotten from the dead. Thou alone, our strong defender, liftest up thy people's head. Jesus, true and living bread! Here our humblest homage pay we, here in loving reverence bow; here for faith's discernment pray we, lest we fail to know thee now. Thou art here, we ask not how. Paschal Lamb, thine offering, finished once for all when thou was slain,
in its fullness undiminished shall for evermore remain. Cleansing souls from every stain. Life-imparting heavenly Manna, stricken Rock with streaming side, heaven and earth with loud hosanna worship thee, the Lamb who died. Risen, ascended, glorified! Communion Motet: This joyful Eastertide arr. by Charles Wood Hymn Ye choirs of new Jerusalem Ye choirs of new Jerusalem, your sweetest notes employ, the Paschal victory to hymn in strains of holy joy. For Judah's Lion bursts his chains, crushing the serpent's head; and cries aloud through death's domains to wake the imprisoned dead. Devouring depths of hell their prey at his command restore; his ransomed hosts pursue their way where Jesus goes before. Triumphant in his glory now to him all power is given; to him in one communion bow all saints in earth and heaven. All glory to the Father be, all glory to the Son, all glory, Holy Ghost, to thee, while endless ages run. O LORD, I am your ser-vant; * I am your servant and the child of your handmaid / you have freed me from my bonds. I will offer you the sacrifice of thanks-gi-ving * and call upon the Name of the LORD. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD * in the presence of all his peo-ple, In the courts of the LORD S house, * in the midst of you O Je-ru-sa-lem.
