Transformation of thinking positive thoughts is Yog. Our mind stays 80% in past and 20% in future. So when our mind is in the past, past takes over the present and takes the beautiful moment of present away from us. Similarly, when our mind stays in future, future takes over the present. The reason why we miss the present is because we have become human doings. Everything is focused on human doings. Our happiness is completely dependent on human doings. We always feel that we will be happy if we will do this or if we will fulfill a particular desire. And we have forgotten the most important part of human being. Yoga teaches us that we are not human doing but we are human being. Page 2 of 8
When we focus on our being, doing becomes perfect automatically. If being is happy, doing will bring success. If being is peaceful, excellence will flow through our doing. So when we stay in present and are conscious about our state of being, our future is assured with stability and present is filled with peace. But when we stay in the past, we create emotional hurt and when we stay in future, expectations or fear create disturbances in our life. Most of the time we feel that we will be happy and complete when we will become somebody. But in real life it never happens. Once we achieve something, our mind desires for other things and our happiness is postponed. Yoga teaches us that we need to pay attention to our being...our power of Self. Self is an inner energy that does not require anything from outside to keep our being happy and peaceful. Happiness is its nature. It only requires right thoughts. If we can create right thoughts any time any place, we will assure happiness and success in my present moment and also in future. All day as we interact with the world, we are constantly seeing outside who is doing what, who is seeing what!!! All of our focus and activities are happening outside. We never think or take a moment to check what's happening inside. And therefore, we never pay any attention to our being part. And that is the reason, the effect of outside significantly impacts our inside and attracts pain and disease. Yoga teaches us that it's ok to see what's happening outside but at the same time we must see what's going on inside of me. Often times we get scared and question ourselves when it comes to watching our inside, because we don't know what to watch for. Yogic Science teaches us to watch our thoughts inside. If we can watch our thoughts, all of our actions will flow perfectly. Page 3 of 8
Our mind is like a little child. It needs clear instructions, close monitoring and training. From childhood to the adulthood, we are taught how to read, write and speak but no one teaches us how to think. And that's why we all are very familiar with the art of right living or art of right speaking but don't have any concept of art of right thinking. Just like we listen to others, and others listen to us, our mind will also listen to us if we start giving clear instructions to it. Whenever we have a thought that is not needed at that time, we must give clear instruction to it to exit the mind. 90% of our thoughts are wasted thoughts and are not needed. However, they sit in our mind because we never gave any instructions to it. So by training our mind and by giving clear instructions we can transform all of our doings. According to higher knowledge, what we say to others reaches there but what we think inside is what reaches even faster. Why we are always questioning our relationships with our loved ones are not flourishing, because we keep thinking about others negative inside and say positive things from outside. Till such time we get to the root of it, which is to correct our thoughts about our relatives, the relationships will continue to be stressful. In life, challenging situations will come in the form of relationships, finances, events, but if we continue to create positive thoughts and stay in present, we will increase our energy and our focus to bring resolution to them. Life is not about winning or loosing. In the name of success we accumulate so much pain. Yogic Science gives us a beautiful explanation that we can call ourself successful only if we are happy, healthy and peaceful. So while achieving the outer businesses, we must make sure that the inner business of peace, happiness, love and stability is not being Page 4 of 8
depleted. So we must learn to develop the art of right thinking. It does not come naturally. It needs to be developed. Most of us have confused thinking because ignorance comes in the way. If we bring yogic light of knowledge and wisdom that tells us who we are, what is the nature of the world and how to have smooth passage to the world and beyond, we will ignite higher level of perfection. It is very simple and can be practiced by all age groups. Life is not past or future, it is in the present. Happiness is a result of being totally in present. So be present in the present. Then a different 'presence' opens up. Whatever you are doing, be total in it. Bring in your totality, of being in the " Here and Now". Then a different aliveness opens up. The quality of our life depends more on what we are inside than outside. When mind is calm, intellect becomes sharp and actions are powerful. Page 5 of 8
