Introduction Allah praises himself in the Quran as he descends the Quran and there is no crookedness in the Quran, in another Ayah in the Quran we are told that the stories in the Quran are a means of guidance for people of understanding. This is when we take the lessons from the stories. We will now draw a map for the stories that we studied in Ramadan. The stories in the Quran are always about truth and falsehood. There are people of truth and those of falsehood and the story tells us about the fight between them. Within the story we see actions of Allah as to how he is dealing with the people. In the story about evil people we see the end is miserable for the evildoers and we also see that Allah is forbearing, as He does not punish the people straight away. He sends messages and when the people do not change then the destruction of Allah descends on them. There are 7 stories covered in Ramadan, The beginning 2 stories ( Surah Yasin and Momin Ale Firoun) the are telling more about how to preach i.e. the way of Dawah. Today we will focus on the other five stories that mention the major sins that Allah emphasis on and he narrates to us these stories so we are aware. Sickness of the heart We have 5 main sickness of the heart from the 5 stories. 1. The story of the two sons of Adam is about jealously. The end of Jealously is االندمم and االخساررةة 2. Story of Qarun. Wanting to be higher. Allah made the earth to swallow him so االخسف he came down. The end is he is 3. Story of the people of garden who are greedy for things so the end is deprived. that the people of the town have been االحرمانن 4. Story of Al Batr who were in gratitude. So Allah replaced what they have with االاستبداالل something that was below and lower 2
5. Ashaab Sabt who are tricky and cheating so Allah ordained that they become قرددةة خاسي يین i.e. like despaired monkeys These are the main sins and sickness of the heart that Allah narrates to us in the Quran. 3
1. Jealousy: Story of the two sons of Adam We can see from the story of the two sons of Adam that there is emphasis on jealousy. If a person has jealously in his heart and he does not solve this problem then he ends up as a loser. In every story there is truth and falsehood. We have the following characters in the story: 1. The Good son 2. The Bad Son Now we will see the Ayat in Surah Al Maida in which the story of the two sons of Adam is mentioned 4

We can see there is battle between truth and falsehood. We can see truth in one son and falsehood in the other son. In the beginning we can see the Taqwa is absent. There is no Taqwa. Only Allah knows what is in our heart. As there is absence of Taqwa so there is a trial / test from Allah. The test is that Allah is telling them to offer a sacrifice. The test is from Allah to reveal what is in their heart. Because of the Ibtilah one of the brothers succeeded. 7
Allah accepts from the one who is pious and does not accept from those who are not pious. Therefore Allah did not accept from the son who was not pious and so he got jealous from his brother. The jealously resides in the heart. The jealously then resulted in a reaction that is utterance from his tongue. He said to his pious brother that he would kill him. Now we will see the action of Allah through the people, as soon as the evil son spoke and said that he will kill his brother, his pious brother starts to advice him. This is Allah sending messages to the evil son. The Muttaqi brother advised him of three things: 1. Allah accepts from the Muttaqeen 2. I am afraid of Allah so I will never do like this (in a way he is telling his brother to be afraid of Allah) 3. If you will kill me you will carry my sin and your sin and you will be among the people of the fire. These advices are of different intensity and these are Infact messages from Allah. 8
Next we see the Nafs of the evil son negotiating with himself. His evil Nafs whispers and makes it easy for him to kill his brother. Finally we see the action with his limbs (outside action) that he kills his pious brother. It all starts with the absence of Taqwa. Allah is telling us about the human being. First the heart got effected by jealously then he uttered i.e. he reacted. As soon as he said he would kill his brother he got message from Allah in the form of advise from his brother. Then we see his evil Nafs whispering to him and making it easy for him to kill his pious brother with a knife, which is an action of the limb. 9
The result is that the evil son becomes a loser in the Duniya and the Hereafter. So his action leads him to loss and regret. Within the story there is the solution to the problem i.e. Jealousy. How to suppress the jealousy? The remedies for jealously are the 3 advices that are given by the pious brother. 10
1. Wanting to be higher: Story of Qarun We have fight between truth and falsehood. Qarun and his Qaum. The Qaum Qarun is divided into two groups. One group comprises of people desiring the Duniya and other group is people having religious knowledge. Now we will see the Ayat in Surah Al-Qasas, which mention the story of Qarun 11

We find there is absence of Taqwa, which leads to sickness of the heart. Now we will see the steps how the sins of the heart can be more intense. So we will see all the Actions of Qarun. In the beginning Qarun has the desire to be higher which is in his heart. It is ااررااددةة االعلو that caused him to transgress. This is also present in the heart. When Qarun saw Musa he fell Jealous ااررااددةة االعلو from Musa. 15
When Qarun transgressed then Allah sent messages and advises to him. He got 5 advices. All of the advises are also the solution to the sickness 1. Don t Rejoice as Allah does not like who rejoice for the Duniya 2. Seek the Akhirah. 3. Enjoy what Allah gave you 4. Do Ihsaan (good) 5. Don t spread mischief These are advises that came to him when he transgress his boundaries. He heard all the advices and reacted by his tongue. He said he to his people all that he has is due to his knowledge. This shows he is a very proud person. Now we will see what is needed to reform the problem of pride. There are two advises: 1. Look at how Allah destroyed the people before you. 2. For the criminals the sin is very apparent and you don t need to question anyone. 16
Now what is Qarun s action? He does not listen to the advice and then he does action of the limb by showing off. When he shows off his adornment then his people get affected and they are divided into two groups. 17
One group wanted the Duniya and the other were people of religious knowledge. The people who desired the Duniya got affected by Qarun s adornment and said: 1. They wished they had similar to what Qarun had. 2. They said Qarun has a great fortune. The other group of people who had religious knowledge said three things to the people who desired the Duniya: 1. They reminded them that Allah reward is better than the worldly things. (Goal) 2. You need to busy with doing good deeds and faith (Means) 3. Patience (Means of the means) 18
Now we will see Qarun s point of view. 1. it starts with the desire to be higher (heart) 2. It resulted in pride (tongue) 3. Then he became arrogant ( Limbs) The result is that he along with his dwelling place all sink into the earth. This is all due to absence of Taqwa as Taqwa will help to suppress the sickness of the heart when the reminder comes. Now when people saw Qarun being destroyed, it resulted in repentance for the group of people who desired the Duniya. They were admiring Qarun and were influenced but him but as soon as they saw the punishment of Allah, it shook them and quickly they returned to Allah by saying: 1. Allah is the Provider. He is Ar-Razzaq. He gives whomever he wants. 2. Allah is Al-Mannan as He favored us by not punishing us with Qarun. 3. The Kafiroon will not have any success 19
In the Ayah at the end we are told that the Paradise is exclusively for people who don t want to be higher and those who don t do Fasada 20
