THE CONCEPT OF IBADAH IN ISLAM

INTRODUCTION Ibadah is the fundamental in Islam where it is the second pillar after aqidah. This is because ibadah is the proof of the truthfulness of one s aqidah.

DEFINITION OF IBADAH Ibadah means one s submission as a slave to the creator, Allah, by humility, obedience and loyalty towards His orders (involves instructions and prohibitions). It also means to perform things He likes and to abandon things He dislikes.

THE PLACE OF IBADAH IN ISLAM It is the purpose for Allah s.w.t in making human beings and also all the messages prophets conveyed.

REALITY OF IBADAH The reality of ibadah is the submission and humility of the element of soul (roh) towards its God with the feeling of being flawed in front of its God, submission towards Him, loyal towards His orders and does not breach the borders He set. The external actions by a person in the context of Ibadah are merely translation or reaction shown by the soul / roh.

Examples are, solat, fasting, zakat, hajj and many more. General Ibadah : General Ibadah refers to daily activities of a muslim except Specific Ibadah which fulfill the requirements below: Sincere / With good intention. Fulfilling the syariat of Islam / Do not oppose the syariat of Islam. Do not cause negligence from performing fardhu practices.

CONCLUSION Ibadah is a responsibility of a slave towards its God. Ibadah is a guideline for human beings to live in ensuring they remain on the right path and hinders them from any damage.
