FRIDAY SERMON 2 Jamadil Akhir 1437H / 11 March 2016 THE TRIALS OF DAJJAL Khatib : IMAM MUDA FAKHRUL HASSAN

Allah says in Surah al-nisaa verse 59:

Which means: O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.

My respected brothers, Let us have Taqwa to Allah by upholding all of His commands and avoiding all of His prohibitions, because Taqwa acts as a stronghold to save us from the trials of Dajjal.

Dear Jemaah, For those who believe in Allah and his messenger, there is no doubt towards any news coming from Rasulullah (peace be upon him), even though sometimes it s hard for the human mind to accept it,

but because of our Iman, we are convinced that everything that is told by Rasulullah is true and it is also a revelation from Allah SWT.

Among the things that Rasulullah (peace be upon him) had told us are about the signs that will appear before the Day of Qiyamah.

In a Hadeeth that is narrated by Saidina Huzaifah: The Prophet (peace be upon him) looked out over us when we were talking, and said, What are you talking about? They said, We are talking about the Hour.

He said, It will never come until you see ten signs: 1. Smoke, 2. Dajjal, 3. The Beast (of the Earth), 4. The rising of sun from its place of setting. 5. The descent of Isa bin Maryam (AS),

6. Yajuj & Majuj, 7, 8 & 9. Three earthquakes (one in the east, one in the west and one in the Arabian peninsula). And the last (No. 10) of that will be a fire which will emerge from Yemen and drive the people to their place of gathering. (Narrated by Muslim)

Dear Jemaah, The appearance of Dajjal before the day of judgment is a trial that Rasulullah (peace be upon him) feared for his followers.

Three years before Dajjal appears, mankind would be stricken with trouble, hardship and hunger due to inadequate food supplies.

During the first year after the appearance of Dajjal, one-third of the skies would not rain and onethird of the crops would not grow.

Then in the second year, it increases to two thirds of the sky that will not shower down rain. On the third year, the skies would not rain at all and will cause lot of plants and animals to die of starvation

Nevertheless, the Prophet (peace be upon him) told us that the food for the believers during that period would be Tahlil, Tasbih, Tahmid and Takbir.

Dajjal will emerge in a place between Ash-Sham & Al-Iraq, and will spread mischief right and left. Then he will travel throughout the entire world.

In a hadeeth that is narrated by Abu Umamah Al-Bahili which means: He will start by saying "I am a Prophet," and there is no Prophet after me. Then a second time he will say: "I am your Lord." But you will not see your Lord until you die.

He is one-eyed, and your Lord is not one-eyed, and written between his eyes is Kafir. Every believer will be able to read it, whether he is literate or illiterate.

Dear Jemaah, Every place will be entered by Dajjal except for two places; that is Mecca and Medina. Rasulullah (peace be upon him) said in a hadeeth narrated by Jabir Bin Abdillah which means:

The best of lands is Medina. It will be guarded by Angels on the day Dajjal comes. Dajjal will not be able to stay in Medina. At the time of arrival of Dajjal (outside Medina), the city of Medina will be shaken three times.

Dear Jemaah, Dajjal is the biggest bearer of fitnah. He will come to every nation and will ask them to worship him and they would do so.

Then he will bestow upon them rain and fertile soil. Then, he will come to another nation and will ask them to worship him and they refused, so Dajjal left them.

The next day, their country would be parched from all of their wealth. This is the most feared fitnah.

In a hadith narrated by Ibn Majah it was stated that: Part of his Fitnah will be that he will say to a Bedouin: "What do you think, if I resurrect your father and mother for you, will you bear witness that I am your Lord?"

He will say: "Yes." Then two devils will appear to him in the form of his father and mother and will say: "O my son, follow him, for he is your Lord."

'Part of his Fitnah will be that he will command the sky to rain, and it will rain, and he will command the earth to bring forth vegetation and it will do so.

And part of his Fitnah will be that he will pass by a clan and they will disbelieve in him, so all their flocks will perish and none will be left.

Dajjal can also travel the earth from one place to another place quickly and amazingly like a blown blustery rain.

These are all trials brought by Dajjal to deceive mankind.

In a hadith by Imam Muslim Hudhaifah said: I know best what the Dajjal will have with him. He will have with him a sea of water and a river of fire, and what you see as fire will be water and what you see as water will be fire.

If any of you who live up to that time and desires water, he should drink from what he sees as fire, for he will find it water.

If we are destined to live in the time of the appearance of Dajjal, then let us invoke the protection of Allah by adhering to the teachings of Islam, as well as enhancing our faith.

Bring ourselves close to Allah, fulfill His obligations, read the Quran and attend religious classes.

Make the first 10 ayats and the last 10 ayats of surah al-kahfi as our daily practice to be our protection against Dajjal. Read and ponder over its meanings.

Make doa as in the hadith narrated by Imam Muslim from Ibn Abbas ra: اللهم إني أعوذبك من عذاب جهنم, وأعوذبك من عذاب القبر, وأعوذبك من فتنة المسيح الدجال, وأعوذبك من فتنة المحيا والممات

"O Allah, I seek refuge from the torment of Hell, and the torment of the grave, and from the evil of Dajjal and from the trials of life and death"

Therefore dear brothers, let us fear Allah swt by performing His commands and leaving His prohibitions, as well as doing what the Messenger commanded.

Do our best to prevent ourselves and our families from trials of Dajjal. Strengthen our faith in Allah. Hopefully we will be happy in this world and the hereafter, Inshallah.

Let us ponder the words of Allah in Surat al-hashr verse 18 which means: O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.

O servant of Allah, remember that this world is a place for temporary lodging. Truly, hereafter is the everlasting and permanent abode. So let us devote to Allah for obtaining happiness and escape from the punishment of hellfire.

Allah says in Surah Al Ahzab verse 56:

Which means: Indeed Allah confers blessing upon the prophet and His angels (ask Him to do so). O! You who have believed, ask Allah to confer blessing upon him and ask Allah to grant him peace.

Let us pray that may Allah SWT be please with the khalifahs of Rasulullah s.a.w i.e Sayyidina Abu Bakr al-siddiq r.a., Sayyidina Umar al-khattab r.a., Sayyinda Uthman ibn Affan r.a., Sayyidina Ali ibn Abi Thalib r.a.

And to his companions who struggle to uphold the religion of Allah, also to his uncles Sayyidina Hamzah and Sayyidina Abbas r.a. and to his granchildren Sayyidina Hassan and Sayyidina Hussain r.a., his daughters Sayyidatina Fatimah al-zahraa, his wives Sayyidatina Khadijah and Sayyidatina Aisyah r.a. and the other wives. Followed by his family, companions, followers of the companions and those who come after them from time to time until the end of the world.

O Allah, forgive all Muslims and believers, whether surviving or deceased. O Allah, grant us glory and prosperity to those who fight and spend their wealth in your way such as those who pay zakat, waqaf etc.

Ya Allah, bestow your guidance and help to the leaders and kings of the Muslim countries especially to Abdaka Al-Harith Lishariatika Al-Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Al-Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan and ruler for the State of Johor Darul Takzim.

And to Raja Zarith Sofea Binti Al- Marhum Sultan Idris Shah, Tengku Ismail Ibn Sultan Ibrahim, Tengku Mahkota Johor and Cik Puan Khalidah binti Bustamam, the Prince and Princess, the royal kinship, and all Muslims.
