DEBUTANTE PROGRAM Jewels of Virtue Cherished WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A CHRISTIAN DEBUTANTE? The word debutante is derived from the word debut, which means a formal introduction or presentation to society. The young ladies who become debutantes prepare themselves spiritually, intellectually and socially for transcending from childhood to adulthood. In the African American community it can be deemed as rites of passage. The purpose of the debutante celebration is to build Christian character, social grace, and self-esteem of young ladies that they may take productive leadership roles in their professions, homes, and communities. The debutante brings her talents, her dreams, and her love to God to be eloquently developed and fine tuned to reveal her inner strength and beauty. When she is presented to society or makes her debut many will call her BLESSED. TEN QUALITIES OF A CHRISTIAN DEBUTANTE Dresses respectfully Encourages others Believes in being polite and respectful Understands and respects others opinions Takes time to pray Always thinks positively Negotiates to seek peace Teaches and is teachable Extends a helping hand Seeks Christ in all endeavors

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates Proverbs 31
