First Baptist Church Fisherville January 2015 Let your light so shine before men Matt. 5:16 We will continue collecting for our Lottie Moon Offering through the month of January. Our Church Goal is $20,000. Acts 1:8 Challenge Fund But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8, HCSB) First Baptist Church Fisherville s Acts 1:8 Challenge Fund will strengthen our witness to our Jerusalem by funding the renovation of our primary worship center and the addition of a Welcome Center. It will also provide a foundation of support for funding evangelism and missions in our Judea and Samaria through partnerships with area ministries and Baptist Associations. Ladies Winter Bible Study starts Wednesday, February 4th @ 9:15 AM & 6:30 PM. Please sign up. Workbooks are available for purchase. Join Beth Moore and walk the shores of Thessalonica with this verse-by-verse Bible study of 1 and 2 Thessalonians. It complements our longstanding commitment to reach the ends of the earth through the SBC Cooperative Program and North American and International Missions Boards. Gifts to the Acts 1:8 Fund before April of 2015 will reduce or eliminate the need for the church to initiate a construction loan to complete the renovation and building project.

Dear Fisherville Family, For my article this month, I wanted to share with you a poem that Scott Morton, one of the members wrote: CHRISTMAS AT FISHERVILLE Tis the Christmas season, here at Fisherville, Where the birth of the Messiah still renders a thrill. Rejoicing in the miracle of our soul that He saved. As we reflect on His journey from the manger to beyond the grave. The blessed promise of Christmas On which by faith we stand. Through the precious baby Jesus Came the salvation of sinful man. What an awe inspiring thought, What a miraculous event! That the Son of God, robed in flesh, Would to this lost world be sent. That s why Amazing Grace is our Christmas theme Out of the Father s greatest Gift flowed a crimson stream. He willingly spilt His precious blood on a rugged tree Paying in full our sin debt and forever setting us free. So this Christmas season, let s just praise the Lord! And give Him all the glory for what His grace affords. And as we pray for the spirit of unity and the hope of its increase, Have a Merry, Merry Christmas...full of Jesus and His Peace. Scott Morton Christmas 2014 You shall BE My witnesses As 2015 begins, FBC Fisherville has taken on a new challenge. The Acts 1:8 Challenge. The Church committed itself to strengthen our witness to our Jerusalem, to expand our missions emphasis in our Judea and our Samaria and to continue to assist in global missions efforts to reach the ends of the earth. To do this, we have a need for an additional $1 million above and beyond our annual operating budget of nearly $1.2 million. Our church commits a minimum of 10% (a tithe) of our budget to direct support of missionaries and missions organizations. We have made that same commitment with the Acts 1:8 Challenge. While the immediate need is $900,000 to complete the renovation and expansion program, $100,000 (10%) will be used for missions beyond our Jerusalem. As we build our buildings, if we do not tell people about a Savior who is alive and active in Fisherville, we will have failed to BE His witnesses in our Jerusalem. If we only send dollars into our Judea and Samaria, we will have failed in our real challenge to BE Jesus witnesses there. BE His witnesses Tell someone about Jesus. Tell someone what He has done for you and what He is doing in our church. Invite them to come learn more about Him. Invite them to join us in worship of Him. BE His witnesses everywhere in 2015. Blessings, Gary Redding
