The event netted a profit of $10,104.84 due to your generosity and support. Thank you to the many Committee Members and special Volunteers who helped make this year s event a big success. Great food, smooth operations and lively entertainment were a result of your many hours of hard work and dedication. Without you, this event would not be possible. A good time was had by all!
JUNE 25, 2017 TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 5 GARDEN OF EAT N JUNE UPDATE A lot has happened in the garden over the past month; we thought an update to bring everyone up to speed was in order! As of May 27th, the entire garden has been planted and we are utilizing every available plot to provide the food pantries with a variety of popular produce. Above are photos of the garden blessing which took place on that final plant date. On May 30 th, the middle school students completed part two, and final part, of the pollinator project. After all the wonderful ideas they presented to the garden committee last year on how to attract pollinators, we thought it would be a great idea to let them know of all the suggestions we implemented. These include integrating flowering plants in the garden, a practice of not using pesticides, providing pollinators with water and a home and using a notill method of tending to our garden beds. Three students were able to take home a mason bee house to place in their own gardens and we installed one in Garden of Eat n. Last, but certainly not least, the pumpkin patch has been tilled and the plants the students started from seed were transplanted into the patch. A wide variety of pumpkins were planted and it will be wonderful for the children to see how these plants grew over the summer when they return in the fall. The school children also helped paint the rain barrels! So far strawberries, asparagus and rhubarb have all been donated. The plants look wonderful and we are looking forward to a very successful growing season! Nina Jakubczak
