Parish News Winter Hours/ Sunday Coffee Hours - Starting Sunday, September 15th Starting Sunday, September 15th, we will revert back to the winter service schedule: Orthros 9:00 a.m., Divine Liturgy: 10:00 a.m. Our coffee hours will also resume on the same day. If you have a date in any month you would like to reserve in order to sponsor/host a coffee hour, please get in touch with a Philoptochos Board Member or the church office. We had a very successful season last year and we look forward to another year of fellowship. Thank You to All! On behalf of the Parish Council and the 2013 Greekfest Committee, I would like to extend congratulations and gratitude to all of the volunteers and donors who contributed in any way in making this year s Greekfest successful. It could not have been possible without each and every one of you. Many of you put in countless hours planning during months of meetings, while others organized the baking and cooking preparations prior to the event. So many worked tirelessly, days before, during and after Greekfest. Although many believe that the hard work ends Sunday evening at the close of festivities, it does not. All the tables, chairs and supplies that are set up need to be taken down, and all the equipment, pots and pans need to be washed and put away as well. So, thank you to EVERYONE, including our Philoptochos members, our young adults, our Parish Council members and all the other volunteers who continued working and cleaning up all week after Greekfest was over. Our sincere gratitude, as well, to all those who supported this event by donating in any way, including our Corporate Sponsors, Ad/Program book donors and sponsors, and the food and supplies donors. It is this combined effort of so many coming together as one for the good our parish that makes me especially proud to be a member of the Assumption Church. With Sincere Appreciation, Costa Georgopoulos, Parish Council President and 2013 Greekfest Chairman Bingo Our church bingo operation is looking for a new Bingo Treasurer. The position will only require a few hours of your time per month. If you are interested in helping our parish with this important fundraising group, please contact Costa Georgopoulos or Teddy Rokas at the church office 623-2045. Roof Fundraiser Living in New England, the weather is not kind to buildings and our Church is no exception. Our current roof has serious issues that are allowing water into the church. The Parish Council recognized this over a year ago and has spent the time to investigate the options of repairing the existing roof or replacing it. In that regard we have established a Roof Fundraising campaign to raise $50,000. Our goal is to raise these funds over the next two months so the work can be finished during the early summer before our Festival in August. Your generous donation will help cover the cost of replacing the roof in order to preserve our church. With the support of our parishioners, as well as the benevolence of community businesses and individuals we have raised so far over $35,000.00! We would like to thank you for your unlimited love and support that you have shown for our church, and would kindly ask for your support so that we can overcome this obstacle. If you have questions, concerns, or just want more details about this important fundraising effort, please contact us at (603) 623-2045. 4
