Acts 11:26 Daily Confession by Appointment - Call the Church Office July 15, 2012 What the Bible Contains By: St. Justin Popovich In the Bible, God has made known: 1. What the world is; where it came from; why it exists; what it is heading for; how it will end. 2. What man is; where he comes from; where he is going; what he is made of; what his purpose is; how he will end. 3. What animals and plants are; what their purpose is; what they are used for. 4. What good is; where it comes from; what it leads to; what its purpose is; how it is attained. 5. What evil is; where it comes from; how it came to exist; why it exists; how it will come to an end. 6. What the righteous are and what sinners are; how a sinner becomes righteous and how an arrogant righteous man be comes a sinner; how a man serves God and how he serves Satan; the whole path from good to evil, from God to Satan. 7. Everything from the beginning to the end; man s entire path from the body to God, from his conception in the womb to his resurrection from the dead. 8. What the history of the world is, the history of heaven and earth, the history of mankind; what their path, purpose and end are. (continued next week) The Antiochian Orthodox Basilica of St. Mary Fr. Page 2 THE EPISTLE. Blessed art Thou, O Lord, the God of our Fathers. For Thou art just in all that Thou hast done for us. The Reading is from the Epistle of St. Paul to St. Titus Chapter 3:8-15 T itus, my son, the saying is sure. I desire you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to apply themselves to good deeds; these are excellent and profitable to men. But avoid stupid controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels over the law, for they are unprofitable and futile. As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is perverted and sinful; he is self-condemned. When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. Do your best to speed Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way; see that they lack nothing. And let our people learn to apply themselves to good deeds, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not to be unfruitful. All who are with me send greetings to you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen. THE GOSPEL The Reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew Chapter 5:14-19 T he Lord said to His Disciples: You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father Who is in heaven. Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them, but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Page 4 Week of July 15, 2012 Camp St. Mary 2012 Highlights Camp St. Mary (CSM) has been off to a wonderful start! We kicked off the summer with a trip to the lake and camp out at the church. We had a great time canoeing the next week, and even though our trip to Cedar Point had to be postponed due to the weather, our trip to the Henry Ford Museum provided a fun alternative. Each week, our campers start the day with Morning Orthros and leave in a peaceful state of mind after evening Vespers. Morning program and Christian education offer time to reflect and simply our lives by refocusing on Christ. Remaining Schedule: July 10 - Field Day July 17 - Midway Entertainment (OR Cedar Point - TBD) July 24 - Water Park (OR Cedar Point - TBD) July 31 - NO CAMP August 7 - Monastery August 14 - Final Camp Out If you have a child entering grades 4-12, please join us every Tuesday at 10:00am for a summer filled with fun, fellowship, worship, and love.
