What do you know about Our Lady of Fatima and Her Messages??? In honor of the 100 th Anniversary of Our Blessed Mother and her apparitions to 3 shepherd children in Fatima Portugal I will devote 2 lessons each month for your information. 8 th Lesson = A little more information about the 2 nd Apparition which took place at 12:00 Noon on June 13, 1917. The news about Our Lady s visit spread to many. Some hearers believed, some ridiculed, some were angry and very critical of the children and their parents. Even their Parish Priest made it difficult for the children especially for Lucia. She was unable to tell her Priest everything from Our Lady which made him even suggest this happening was not at all coming from Our Lady. This caused Lucia to endure some suffering. There was one believer whose name was Maria Carrieira. She had every desire to be with the children for this 2 nd Apparition even if she would not see the vision, this was the privilege just for the 3 children. Still she fully believed the children and she want to be with them. On this special day of June 13, which was also the Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua, the village had a custom of hosting a major procession, special blessings and rejoicing and Lucia s Mom made every attempt to win her away from the visions at the Cova and stay with everyone for the festivities. The children could not be persuaded, they wanted to see Our Lady once again. When they arrived at the Cova a small group of curious folks were already there including children, in fact a small group from the First Holy Communion Class came to see. Lucia s Mom was worried about something happening to her daughter and so by secret she followed and hid herself in a spot so she could see the children. At 12:00 noon Lucia calls to Jacinta here comes Our Lady. I just saw the flashing light The children knelt by the holm oak tree. The little crowd could see Lucia move her lips but did not hear her words. Her question for Our Lady was You told me to come here today. What do you want me to do? Our Lady answered her with this request, I want you to come here on the thirteenth of the next month. Say the Rosary, inserting between the mysteries the following ejaculation O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need. ------------------------------------------ Our Blessed Lady s concern for too many souls being lost in the suffering of hell is so great She makes this urgent request for an extra prayer to be included in the Rosary which She asks it to become our daily prayer. I have great confidence that each time we pray the Rosary, especially the children, many souls gain a benefit.
