THE NURSERY IS STAFFED for the 9:30 Sunday School hour. Please use as needed during the 8:00 and 10:45 services. PORTAL OF PRAYERS AND HOPEFUL LIVING, (daily devotional books, October-December) may be picked up at each entrance of the church and in back of the church THRIVENT FELLOWSHIP: Please join us in the Fellowship hall 9:00-9:30 for refreshments and fellowship. FALL QUARTER SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES AND CONFIRMATION CLASSES (GRADES 6-8) start this morning. Students meet in the church at 9:30, for singing and devotions. Birthdays, and perfect attendance recognition will also take place. SUNDAY SCHOOL OPENING Will meet in the church at 9:30 for preschool-5 th grade. SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON S KEY POINT: In the lesson for today, The Fall of Jericho, students learn that as through His servant Joshua, God gave the Israelites victory over Jericho, through Jesus Christ, God gives them victory over their enemy, Satan, assuring them that they are His people. ADULT BIBLE CLASSES: Pastor Chris s class in the Fellowship hall, and Jim Fairchild s class in the Memorial room will continue with their 4 week Stewardship classes. Come when you are able. Church Membership Classes led by Pastor Kevin in the Chapel. BAPTISM OF CAMDEN RANDALL NORMAN: Camden is the son of Josh & Jennifer Norman. Camden will be baptized this morning during Contemporary service. His sponsors are Jason Olomon & Kelli Norman. Camden was born on June 20, 2016 PARISHSCOPE DEADLINE: The ParishScope Deadline for the October newsletter is today. Please get your news to the church office as soon as possible. ACTIVITY SCHEDULING: To avoid overlapping or conflicting meetings, events, etc., please contact the church office whenever you need to schedule something other than a "regular" activity.

ALL WOMEN OF OUR CHURCH ARE INVITED to join a new Women's Bible Study! We will meet on Wednesday evenings beginning on September 21 st at 6:30 p.m. Sue Woodruff will lead this study on Pew Sisters by Katie Schuermann. You can order Pew Sisters from Amazon for only $14.99. If you prefer to have Sue order the book for you, please call her at 347-1888. We will conclude this study before Thanksgiving. CHOIR & PRAISE TEAM - Now is a GREAT time to join our Choir and/or Praise Team! Please contact one of the current members for more information or Pastor Kevin. CANCER COMPANIONS: Do you, or someone you are caring for, have cancer? St. John s Sand Prairie is inviting you to our first session of Cancer Companions on Monday, September 19 th from 6:00-7:00pm in our Fellowship Hall. This is a new ministry to support anyone currently dealing with cancer, as well as their caregivers. For more information, please call Christie Martis at 309-264-4978 after 5:00pm FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 13 th at 7:00pm to establish a budget for the coming year. It is very important that everyone come if at all possible.

THE LIBRARY IS OPEN from 9:00-10:40 am. Please take advantage of the many DVDS and books PEORIA-PEKIN ZONE LWML WOMEN'S FALL RALLY - is Wednesday, September 28 at our church from 9am through lunch! Rev. Terry Strom is an awesome speaker who will share tips he has learned from his mission trips to various areas. Join us for refreshments, devotions, LWML meeting, and lunch! All are welcome! You do not need to be part of LWML to attend. Contact Marlene Baker or Tawn Bueltmann for more details or questions. KEITH & KRISTYN GETTY - IN CONCERT OCT. 14 - If you like the songs "In Christ Alone" or "How Deep the Father's Love for Us" you will love hearing these world-famous musicians who wrote those songs. They will be in Peoria at Grace Presbyterian Church. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 in advance from WBNH (1919 Mayflower Dr. in Pekin). CHICAGO BUS TRIP - If you would like a bus ride to Chicago with a bunch of Lutherans to shop or visit a friend on Saturday, October 22, the cost is $35. The bus will leave Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington at 7:00 am and return about 9:30 pm. If you are interested in helping please contact Andrea Cantrall @ 241-6237. GSLS HAS T-SHIRTS AND MAGNETS for sale at the office. Shirts are $7.00 & $8.00. The magnets are priced at $3.00. MIDWEST FOOD BANK DELIVERIES - We need people to help unload food & repackage bulk food items. Usually the 2nd or 3rd Thursday from 10:15 am to noon in the Fellowship hall. ASSISTANT FOOD PANTRY CHAIR Assist in keeping an inventory & shopping for food & personal care items, filing paperwork, & restocking shelves, etc.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES will be held on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 22nd & 23rd. If you did not receive the paper sent home on this, contact your student(s) teacher. DINING NIGHT OUT: Monday, Sept. 19th is the first Dining Night Out of the 2016-17 school year at Papa John's! This event will last from opening to closing! You can order online, by phone or in person. Be sure to mention Good Shepherd Lutheran School when placing your order to ensure that GSLS gets credit for your order. We thank you in advance for your support! EARLY DISMISSAL: Friday, September 23rd is an Early dismissal day. Pre-K will dismiss at 12:00pm/K-8th will dismiss at 12:30pm. Lunch will be served! K-8TH WILL BE SINGING next Sunday, September 25th at Trinity's 10:00 am service to celebrate their 75th anniversary! GSLS 2016 JOG-A-THON: The 36th Annual Jog-a-thon will be held on Sunday, October 2nd from 11-3pm, jogging to start at 1pm. Students have been given their pledge sheets, so if they do not find you, please go find them to pledge. Anyone, can run in the Jog-a-thon, sign up forms can be found at the Scrip tables at every church. We are in need of dessert donations, which can be left at the School beforehand if necessary. I think that is about it for this week. Thank you for all you do for us. Have a blessed day! DONATIONS OF DESSERTS ARE NEEDED for Good Shepherd s annual Jog-athon. Please see sign-up sheet in Fellowship Hall. You can bring your dessert to the school on Friday before 3pm; have to the church by 9:30am on Sunday, Oct 2 nd ; or bring to the Jog-a-thon held at the school by 11:00 am. Games will be played at 4:00, and the meal will be at 6:00. Meat and drinks will be provided, so if you are able to attend, please bring a dish to pass. At 7:00 there will be campfire devotions led by Pastor Bueltmann. Hope to see you there for fun, food, fellowship, and evening worship.

60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY - Robert & Rose Mary Lutz celebrate their 60th Anniversary on Friday, September 16. There will be an Open House at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin today from NOON to 2:00 pm. All family and friends are invited to come and help them celebrate. No gifts please. WHIPPOORWILL CHALLENGE: Camp CILCA's annual Whippoorwill Golf Outing will be held September 23, 2016 at the Rail Golf Course in Sherman, IL. Bring your own foursome or join one. Check in will be at 11:30am, and there will be a shotgun start at 12:30pm. To register send $60 to CID Golf Fundraiser; Grace Lutheran Church; PO Box 493; Paris, IL 61944-0493. EPIPHANY SOCIETY FALL BAZAAR The Daze of Autumn is the name of our bazaar this year. October 15 th is the date. Now don t forget! Ya hear? From ten thirty til half-past one there will be time for you To shop until you drop ; have lunch and meet the kitchen crew. They ve worked real hard for sev ral days making delicious soups And salads and desserts, oh my! They ve been a busy group! And then there are the crafty ones as busy as can be! They ve made some quilts and so much more! You ll have to come and see! There s noodles, jams and jellies, too; snax, candies and much more. You ll find just what you re looking for in Ye Olde Country Store. And don t forget the bakery cakes, cookies, pies and breads. The tantalizing aroma will turn your pretty heads! For miscellaneous items there is a booth for you. It s fun to see what can be bought for just a buck or two. We pray this later date will meet with everyone s consent, And hopefully we ll hear you say, We re very glad we went!
